The Effects of Technological and International Marketing Capability of SMEs in Gwangju·Jeonnam Province on Export Performance: Focusing on the Moderating Role of CEO's Risk-taking Propensity (광주·전남지역 중소기업의 기술역량과 국제마케팅역량이 수출성과에 미치는 영향: CEO 위험감수성의 조절효과를 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze whether SMEs' technological capabilities and international marketing capabilities affect the export performance of the SMEs and to empirically test the moderating effect of the CEO's risk propensity on such a relationship. We obtained data from 190 SMEs located in Gwangju and Jeonnam Province in Korea through survey and performed a regression analysis for hypothesis testing based on these data. As a result of the analysis, it was found that SMEs' technological capabilities and international marketing capabilities had a significantly positive (+) effect on export performance, respectively. Also, the CEO's risk propensity was found to reinforce the relationship between technical competence and export performance, and the relationship between marketing capabilities and export performance was also found to be strengthened in the positive (+) direction. These results suggest that it is necessary for SMEs to continuously develop technological capabilities and international marketing capabilities to achieve successful export performance in overseas markets. Also, the CEO's propensity to promote these relationships may be important.

Relationship Banking and Exports: Evidence from SMEs in the Korean Stock Markets (관계금융이 중소기업의 수출에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구)

  • This study explores the role of relationship banking for the exports of SMEs (small and medium sized enterprises) in Korea. Using a sample of SMEs listed on the Korean stock markets between 2004 and 2018, I find that relationship banking has a positive impact on exporting behaviors of SMEs. This result indicates that relationship banking is suitable for SMEs to raise their funds in the export decision-making since the incentive for banks to obtain soft information enhances SMEs' access to external finance. In particular, through further analysis considering financial constraints, I find that the positive impact of relationship banking on exports is amplified for financially constrained SMEs. In addition, the positive impact on exports is also amplified for export starters. Finally, relationship banking provides benefits for SMEs' export decision-making regardless of the financial crisis. To sum up, relationship banking may be useful means of financing for Korean SMEs whose creditworthiness cannot be assessed only by hard information. As the role of finance in international trade has recently been highlighted, this study provides insightful evidence that relationship banking may enhance exports of SMEs as a source of trade finance.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the direct investment decision factors in the Kaesong Industrial Complex and Vietnam, and to contribute to the creation of domestic jobs and the revitalization of the inter-Korean economy. According to the analysis, most of the Kaesong Industrial Complex and Vietnamese investment companies are entering the complex for the purpose of utilizing cheap labor, cheap factory locations, sales/development of local markets, and bypass export production bases in third countries. This can be divided into production-efficient investors using differences in production price such as labor costs and market-oriented investors to sell and expand the local market, which seems to be consistent with global direct investment patterns such as Nike, Apple, and Amazon. However, even if the North Korea-U.S. denuclearization talks ease or lift sanctions, Vietnamese investors' willingness to invest in the North Korea has been most burdened by the possibility of closing special economic zones due to political risks. Last but not least, it is important to note that those willing to invest in North Korea are mostly smaller enterprises in textiles, sewing, footwear and leather industries-those that benefit from low-cost labor. Since their size is small, they need policy support in financing, especially in the early stages of their business. Even after they grow past the early stages, those without collateral would still need state guarantee letters to get financing. Thus, it is worth considering to use the Inter-Korean Cooperation Fund to compensate commercial banks for bad loan loss or for low-interest loans for smaller SMEs. The interviews with SMEs found that red-tape is one of the biggest difficulties they face. Thus, it is recommended that a one-stop service agency should be established to cover all processes and issues related to inter-Korean economic cooperation to eliminate redundancy and expediate government support for SMEs.

  • In the past, an policy measures for the promotion of the export has actively used trade finance, but also in its effect there is no doubt. However, in 2008 the bankruptcy of Lehman Brothers triggered the global financial crisis. As a result, the need to effectively manage liquidity risk posed, and was a debut for Basel III. Focusing on trade finance banks are being made. Domestic commercial banks have not been able not utilize various trade finance techniques. In these situations, the introduction of Basel III can discourage trade finance. Therefore, responses should be prepared for it. Therefore, this study analyzes the status of trade finance system. And international regulation of the financial market are investigated for changes. Based on this, the development direction of Korea's trade finance is proposed.

  • 본 지도업체인 쌍희금속은 1988년 2월 설립, 주생산제품은 닉켈합금선으로서 1997년 12월 현재 총매출액 7.4억원(수출 0.12억 포함) 당기순이익 0.32억원으로 종업원 9명을 포함한 개인기업 형태로 특히 총매출액의 6%를 기술투자비율에 할당하고 있는 유망 중소기업이다. 기술지도와 관련한 연선의 선재(線材)는 포항제철의 $^{ø}$8mm 태선(允線)이 주종이나 특수선(特殊線)인 경우는, 국내선재의 경우 멜팅(Melting)기술이 부족하여 독일국으로부터 $^{ø}$5.5 mm의 선재를 직수입에 의존하고 있었다. 한편 세선가공의 선재는 20여개의 Dies공구 가공공정을 통한 $^{ø}$1.3 mm의 선채를 사용하여 $^{ø}$0.6 mm의 세선(細線)을 가공하고 있었다. 그러나 인발(引拔) 기술과 관련함에 특히 Dies 공구로부터 세선(細線)을 제조한 후 마무리 공정에서의 탈지문제가 정립돼있지 못하여 End User로부터 불만사례가 종종 야기 되었다 이의 원인 규명을 기술지도를 통해 조사한 결과 소성가공유(습식형)의 인식 부족이 주원인이였다. 소성가공유의 조성은 일반적으로 식물성. 광물성, 계면활성제, 극압제 등으로 구성됨에 마무리공정에서의 탈지방법은 가공유제의 기재(Base oil)에 따라 다르다 즉 기유(基油)가 광물계인 경우는 탈지제가 용제형(TCE 등)이 양호하나 식물계인 경우는 Alkali계가 양호하다. 따라서 NaOH sol'n2~3%+분산제(기포방지제)로서 음이온인 노닐페놀 0.1~0.3%의 처방을 제시하고 설비로서는 8$0^{\circ}C$로 유지되는 조제된 알칼리 Vessel과 물중탕 설비(열풍설비 포함)등을 대입하는 공정개선으로 Dies를 통과한 중간제품의 세선 $\longrightarrow$ 탈지설비 $\longrightarrow$ 80~85$^{\circ}C$로 유지되는 열처리(Aniling)공정을 대입함에 세선의 가공경화가 없었으며 아울러 수용성 가공유의 관리 한계(사내표준화)를 설정 관리 하도록 지도함으로서 지도 전에 비해 제조원가의 절하 및 생산성 향상은 물론 세선의 신규 탈지제 개발과 공정 개선을 통하여 가열공정의 부하개선 과 최종제품인 절연선의 품질향상을 가져 왔다.

  • This study has examined how the welfare system has changed as it has passed through the most controversial period in Korean modern history. The welfare system has changed in a way that adapts to the need for export-led economic growth. Industrialization centered on light industry, which started in the mid-1960s, absorbed the labor force that existed in the rural areas and commodified them, thereby creating a momentum for Korean society to get out of poverty. However, the public de-commodification, ie social security system, adapted to the commodification of the labor force has been institutionalized only in a very limited area and people. Indeed, the de-commodification system was confined to the area directly linked to the reproduction of the labor force. Even so, the target was very limited in the abundance of labor in rural areas. Compulsory medical insurance was rejected because of corporate burden, and industrial accidents insurance was introduced centering on large-scale workplaces. As the Korean economy began to move from the light industry to the heavy industry in the 1970s, the commodificated labor force changed from a low skilled labor force to a skilled male labor force. It is at this time that dual structures have begun to be created between workers employed in export-oriented large enterprises and workers employed in domestic-oriented SMEs. Therefore, the system of de-commodification that supports the reproduction of labor power in response to social risks has also been institutionalized centering on large-scale workplaces.

  • 우리나라의 발효식품 산업의 규모는 2010년 약 4조 원으로 식품 산업 전체의 4.0%정도이며, 이 중 전통 발효식품이 50.0% 수준으로 전체 식품 산업 대비 비중은 2.0%에 불과하지만, 발효제품의 세계 시장 규모는 2000년 152억 달러, 2010년 730억 달러로 급속한 성장으로 확대되고 있다. 국내 소금시장의 규모는 2010년 기준 1,300억 원이며, 전 세계적으로 나트륨 대체 염미제의 시장수요는 절실히 필요한 실정으로, 최근 2,000억 원대 규모를 유지하고 있는 간장 시장에서 염도를 낮춘 '저염 간장'매출 성장세를 보이고 있어 소금을 줄이는 식생활 개선에 대한 교육 홍보와 더불어 '나트륨 저감화 식품 개발의 필요성'이 국민건강증진, 경제성 측면에서 날로 커지고 있다. 또한, 2007년부터 웰빙 열풍으로 자연조미료 제품의 비중이 크게 늘어나는 추세이며, 100% 천연재료로 사용하여 소비자용 제품 출시 등 다양한 변화를 가져온 결과, 자연조미료 시장은 2008년 151억 3,200만 원의 매출규모에서 215억 2,600만원으로 무려 42.3%를 차지했으며, 저염을 위하여 활용하는 저염 소금도 연령대가 높아질수록 선호도가 높아지는 있다는 보고가 있다. 식품의약안전처의 '나트륨 저감화 사업'은 2012년부터 연차별로 가공식품의 나트륨 저감화 가이드라인을 개발하여 가공식품 생산업체들의 참여를 유도하며, 다양한 홍보를 펼쳐 2014년 6월 기준으로 165개 제품의 나트륨이 저감화 되었으며, 2015년에는 95종의 면류제품의 나트륨 함량이 약 20% 이상 저감되는 실적을 보여주었다. 여러 지역자체 단체들은 지역의 특성을 최대한 살려 다양한 발효산업 육성을 진행하고 있음에 영남권의 장류 업체를 대상으로 나트륨 섭취량을 줄일 수 있도록 '경북 발효식품 수출농업기술지원단'은 식품의약품안전처와 연계하여 지속적으로 가공식품 중 나트륨 저감화에 노력을 할 것이며 이에 대기업과 함께 중소기업들의 참여도를 높이기 위해 현장 컨설팅을 지역적으로 실시할 계획으로 각 지역별 업체들의 참여도를 높일 계획이다. 이를 통해 전통 발효식품이 기능성을 유지하면서 나트륨 함량을 줄인 건강식품으로 우리나라 식품산업 발전에 기여하고자 노력할 것이다. 향후 발효산업 중 한류의 매운맛, 김치 등을 시작으로 고성장이 기대되는 세계화 전략 품목이며 지역 농산물을 활용한 발효식품 세계화를 위하여 나트륨 저감화는 반드시 선행되어야 할 것으로 생각된다.

The developed countries make efforts to keep the superiority of military industry with an high technology and huge capital. One of the efforts is the defence industry exhibitions for the management performance regarded as the marketing strategic principal method. The result of the opening exhibitions has been studied by research papers and treatises. A exhibitions' goal is different from an it's characteristic, type, industry, participator, institution and participating nation. An enterprise's management performance is runs as follows. First, an exhibitions participation activation has an effect re-participation following the satisfaction. Second, an exhibitions participation activation contributes to be on sale promotion, The result of the exhibitions participation is classified with sale performance and non-sale performance. The third, an exhibitions participation activation contributes to the effective company management. The huge fund advertisement is a financial burden, but a exhibitions takes effect one-fifth economical retrenchment. Accordingly, this study researched the exhibition participation choice properties, an exhibitions participation activation properties and investigated the Korea defence industry's income statement, balance sheet, growth ratios, profitability ratios, productivity ratios, stability ratios which were substitute for the enterprise's management performance through the exhibitions participation costs and the number of times.
