  • In this paper, an aberration free aspherical lens is designed and machined by new design method and the spherical aberration measuring system is developed. It confirmed the propriety of new design method by measuring optical characteristics of machined lens with the new measuring system. The system could measure a spherical aberration quantitatively by using CCD camera, laser, collimator and so on.

  • 적응광학계(adaptive optics system ; AO)는 파면을 파면측정장치로 측정하고 제어용 컴퓨터를 사용하여 파면보정장치를 구동함으로써 파면의 왜곡 및 수차를 보정하는 장치로, 최근 천문학 및 의료분야에서 활용되고 있다. 적응광학계의 제어는 파면을 영역별로 나누어 제어하는 zonal 방법과 모드로부터 제어하는 modal 방법이 있다. 본 연구에서는 파면 측정 장치(wavefront sensor ; WFS)인 Shack-Hartmann sensor로 측정된 파면의 기울기 정보로부터 Zernike 다항식의 계수를 계산하여 수차의 정보를 구현하고, 왜곡된 파면을 실시간으로 보정하기 위하여 Zernike 계수로부터 위상을 재구성한 후 보정장치인 변형거울을 제어하는 방법으로 파면을 보정하였다.   • In order to measure yield stress of PIM feedstocks simply and effectively, a yield stress measuring technique was developed by a vane method. The vane method had an advantage that there was no wall-slip, while it had a drawback that it could not measure viscosity change at various shear rates. A Newtonian fluid was tested for the appropriateness of the measuring technique. The end effect of a vane was checked to produce an acceptable error. The torque peak has been considered to be developed at yielding of non-Newtonian fluids with yield stress. However, it was influenced very much by control system of the instrument so that the torque value at the stable region was taken to calculate yield stress. Torque at zero rotational speed was obtained by extrapolating the torque values at various speeds to remove the effect of the rotational drag. As general verification, yield stress of feedstocks made of Tungsten carbide powder with wax-based binder was measured at different temperatures and various powder concentrations.

  • 수차발전기에서 이상진동이 발생하였을 경우 일반적인 진동판별법을 서술하기로 한다. 실제로 부디치는 진동문제를 취급하여 보면 단순한 원인에 의한 것 뿐만아니라 여러가지 원인이 중첩되어 복잡한 비선형적인 현상이 나타날 경우가 많다. 원동기측 및 피동기측의 회전자급 고정자의 각각에 진동을 발생하는 다수의 요인이 있고 또 각각의 진동원인들의 상호간의 영향력이 작용하여 복잡한 진동현상을 가지고 있어서 그 원인을 판별하기가 용이한 일이 아니다. 이러한 진동원인중 주 되는 몇가지 원인을 찾아내기 위하여는 진동특성에 관한 충분한 이해와 적절한 측정장치를 선택할 필요가 있다.

  • Recently, Plastic optical products are widely used. Injection molding process has advantages of low cost and high productivity. However, it remains a residual birefringence and residual stress by difference cooling. The present study focused on measuring birefringence in optical plastic parts using interference color pattern. The main idea of an analysis comes from chromatic aberration which is caused by difference light wavelengths. As a result, a complete system measuring the high order 2-D birefringence pattern was built. Further investigation is under way to improve the accuracy of birefringence measurement system by diode laser.

  • A camera type optical bench system equipped with a lens collimator and an image analyzer is fabricated to measure the equivalent focal length and distortion of lenses. This system is automatized by the computer which controls stepping motors. A nodal slide optical bench system equipped with an off axis reflective collimator is fabricated and improved by using rotating arms and air bearing system. distortion measurement on a wide angle lens using the camera method and the nodal slide method is reported. Defocusing error in the distortion measurement with the nodal slide optical bench is analyzed and improved by iteration method to search the correct image point.

  • The issue of inspection and characterization of microstructures has emerged as a major consideration in design, fabrication, and detection of MEMS devices. However, the conventional measurement techniques, including scanning electron microscopy (SEM) imaging, atomic force microscopy (AFM) scanning, and mechanical surface profiler, require often destructive process or may be difficult to measure with a wafer scale. In this paper, we characterize the surface profiles of microstructures using an optical scanner based on a DVD pick-up module. Scanning images of the microstructures are successfully generated using the intensity of reflected light from different depths of the surface profiles, based on the focus error signal (FES) from photodiodes. It is shown that the proposed optical scanner can be used as an alternative measurement system with high performance and low cost, compared to conventional measurement techniques.

  • A nondestructive technique for measuring the refractive index of a simple lens is described. The shearing interferornetric technique is used for determining the focal length of a lens by immersing it in various liquids. The lens itself acts as autocollimator and decollimator. An equation for the defocusing error has been theoretically deduced and experimentally verified. The wave aberration has also been investigated for the different values of the focal length.

  • This paper presents the automatic alignment measuring system for improving the accuracy and working time of alignment of large vertical hydraulic pump turbine. It is general practice that rotating shaft should run within acceptable vibration limit. In order to obtain better run-out data of multi-stage rotor, careful and accurate alignment approach must be established. Generally, present alignment procedure are required several iterative works and so many manpower. Therefore, the new system has been developed using a vector calculation algorithm, laser sensor and data acquisition devices. As a result of appling to actual machines, it is confirmed that manpower is saved up to an average 90%.
