The Effect of Variations in the Vertical Position of the Bracket on the Crown Inclination (브라켓의 수직적 위치변동에 따른 치관경사도변화에 관한 연구)

  • Precise bracket positioning is essential in modem orthodontics. However, there can be alterations in the vertical position of a bracket due to several reasons. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of variations in the vertical bracket position on the crown inclination in Korean patients with normal occlusion. From a larger group of what was considered to be normal occlusions obtained from the Department of Orthodontics, College of Dentistry, Seoul National University, each of the final 10 subjects (6 males and 4 females, with an average age of 22.3 yews) was selected. The dental models of each of the subjects were scanned three-dimensionally by a laser scanner, and measurements drawn from these were made on the scanned dental casts of the subjects were input into the computer program. From this the occlusal plane and the bracket plane were determined. The tooth plane was then constructed to measure the crown inclination on the bracket plane of each tooth. From a practical standpoint, information was obtained on the extent to which the torque of a tooth would be changed as the bracket position was to be moved vertically (in ${\pm}0.5mm,\;{\pm}1.0mm,\;{\pm}1.5mm$) from its ideal position. A one way analysis of the variance (ANOVA) was used to compare each group of the different vertical distances from the bracket plane on a specific tooth. Duncan's multiple comparison test was then performed. There were statistically significant differences in the crown inclination among the groups of different vertical distances for the upper central incisor, upper lateral incisor, upper canine, upper first and second molars, lower first and second premolars, and lower first and second molars (p<0.05). On the upper anterior teeth, upper molars, lower premolars and lower molars, the resultant torque values due to the vertical displacement of the bracket were different depending on the direction of the displacement, occlusal or gingival. This study implies that the torque of these teeth should be handled carefully during the orthodontic treatment. In circumstances in which the bracket must be positioned more gingivally or occlusally due to various reasons, it would be useful to provide the chart of torque alteration of each tooth referred to in this study with its specified bracket prescription.

An Audio System Based on Vertical Sound Source Elevation for the Improvement of Audio Realism in Home TV Environments (가정용 TV 환경에서의 실감효과 향상을 위한 정면 수직음상정위 기반 오디오 시스템)

  • 본 논문에서는 가정용 TV 환경에서 실감효과를 향상시키기 위한 정면 수직음상정위에 기반한 오디오 시스템을 제안하고 이를 구현한다. 제안된 시스템은 가정용 대형 TV 환경에서 TV 하단에 배치된 오디오 시스템으로 인해 음상이 TV 의 하단에 맺히게 되어 재생되는 영상과 위치적인 불일치 문제를 해결하기 위하여, 오디오 신호에 정면 수직음상정위 기법을 적용하여 고도감이 향상된 신호를 생성해 준다. 본 논문에서의 정면 수직음상정위 기법은 청취자의 신체적 특성을 반영하기 위한 머리전달함수 모델, 고도에 따라 달라지는 주파수 특성을 반영하기 위한 spectral notch 및 특정 주파수 대역 boosting 으로 구성된다. 제안된 오디오 시스템의 정면 수직음상정위 기법의 성능을 평가하기 위하여 원음과 이 원음에 정면 수직음상정위 기법을 적용하여 생성한 음원을 TV 오디오 시스템으로 재생한 후의 청취 선호도 조사를 수행하였으며, 그 결과 정면 수직음상정위 기법을 포함하는 제안된 오디오 시스템을 통해 청취한 음원에 대한 선호도가 높았다.

Difficulty of understanding and using the number line by Elementary school students (초등학생의 수직선 이해와 사용의 어려움)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate how elementary school students understand and use the number line relating number concept and what is the main problem in the learning process. For the efficient achievement of this purpose, we investigated how the number line metaphor is related to the number concept and considered the role of the number line on Freudenthal's number concept teaching theory. The test conducted to find the degree of understanding and difficulty on using the number line by actual elementary school students consisted of two questions ; to find appropriate number corresponding to the given number on the number line and to identify contents of chapters about the use of number line on each grade. It was found that many students couldn't solve the problem represented by the number line though they could solve the problem represented by other ways such as number track and pictures. The only difference between the two problems was the way of representation, and they had same contents and structure. This study tried to figure out the meaning of this phenomenon. Also, by using various teaching-learning method (number track, pictures, empty number line, and double number line etc.), this study was aimed to provide the way to help learning 'related number concept' and to solve the difficulty on understanding the number line.

A Positioning Algorithm Using Virtual Reference for Accuracy Improvement in Relay-Based Navigation System (중계 기반 항법시스템에서 위치정확도 향상을 위한 가상 기준점 활용 측위 알고리즘)

  • In this paper, we propose a new positioning scheme for accuracy improvement of Relay-based Navigation System. The conventional relay-based system occurs larger vertical error than horizontal one due to structural characteristics that positioning references are located toward same direction and a location of user is estimated by triangulation technique. In the proposed positioning scheme, the user position is reestimated using an additional virtual reference which is generated based on position information of reference stations in navigation signals and estimated initial user position. The nearest reference station from the estimated user position is selected as a virtual reference to minimize the effect of geometrical factor. The vertical error decreases by using reference points on multi planes, therefore, accurate positioning is possible than the conventional scheme. We demonstrated that the accuracy of a user is improved through simulation results.

  • This research was conducted to determine the optimum lifting positions on precast concrete slabs for precast concrete pavement construction, based on the analysis of concrete stress distribution under various lifting conditions. To analyze stresses in concrete slabs, the finite element method was implemented and a numerical model of the precast slab that was going to be used in the experimental construction was developed. Changes in the stress distribution due to the lifting angle were investigated because slab lifting is not always performed in the perpendicular direction to the slab surface. In addition, the effect of the lifting level, the distance between the neutral axis of the slab and the lifting point, on the stress distribution was investigated since the lifting point is not always at the neutral axis of the slab. To consider the actual steel design of the precast slab, the effect of the reinforcement near the lifting point was also investigated. From this study, the optimum lifting positions of the precast slabs were determined according to the lifting angle and level, and the results were compared with the lifting positions used in the PCI standards.

A Positioning Accuracy Analysis in Korea by using NTCM-BC Ionosphere Model (NTCM-BC 전리층 모델을 이용한 한반도 내 위치추정 정확도 분석)

  • A Neustrelitz TEC model (NTCM) developed by Deutsches Zentrum $f{\ddot{u}}r$ Luft- und Raumfahrt (DLR) provides a better accuracy than the global positioning system (GPS) Klobuchar model for predicting ionospheric delay. The NTCM model accuracy is comparable to Galileo NeQuick model, and it has less computation time. The NTCM model uses F10.7 values as a parameter of solar activity function, while a NTCM-Broadcast (NTCM-BC) uses TEC values from a Klobuchar model. For this reason, a NTCM-BC model can be used for real-time ionosphere correction. In this paper, vertical ionospheric delay and GPS positioning errors in Korea by using a NTCM-BC ionosphere model from 2009 to 2014 are analyzed and compared with those of a Klobuchar model. In the 6-year statistics, the vertical ionospheric delay is reduced by 17.7 %, and horizontal and vertical positioning accuracies by the NTCM-BC model are improved by 25.6 % and 6.7 %, respectively, over the Klobuchar model.

Spray Characteristics of Jet According to Position of Injector Hole in Cross Flow (횡단유동내 인젝터 홀의 위치에 따른 제트의 분무 특성)

  • Effects of injector position and momentum flux ratio on a vertical jet in a cross flow field were studied qualitatively and shown by using air and water. The experiment was carried out by fixing the momentum flux ratio and varying the position of the injector hole. Conversely, the injector hole position was fixed and the momentum flux ratio was varied. Image visualization was performed by a Shadowgraph technique using a high speed camera. The visualized images were compared for finding differences in spraying through Density Gradient Magnitude Image. It is observed that as the x/d of the apparatus increased the jet break up height decreases and the spray angle also decreases. When x/d is 0, the spray reaches the floor and ceiling at any momentum flux ratio.

Vertiport Location Problem to Maximize Utilization Rate for Air Taxi (에어 택시 이용률 최대화를 위한 수직이착륙장 위치 결정 문제)

  • This paper deals with the operation of air taxis, which is one of the latest innovative technologies aimed at solving the issue of traffic congestion in cities. A key challenge for the successful introduction of the technology and efficient operation is a vertiport location problem. This paper employs a discrete choice model to calculate choice probabilities of transportation modes for each route, taking into account factors such as cost and travel time associated with different modes. Based on this probability, a mathematical formulation to maximize the utilization rate for air taxi is proposed. However, the proposed model is NP-hard, effective and efficient solution methodology is required. Compared to previous studies that simply proposed the optimization models, this study presents a solution methodology using the cross-entropy algorithm and confirms the effectiveness and efficiency of the algorith through numerical experiments. In addition to the academic excellence of the algorithm, it suggests that decision-making that considers actual data and air taxi utilization plans can increase the practial usability.

  • 앞 턱 부위가 짧고 후방으로 위치해 있을 때 턱의 높이를 증가시키고 전방으로 돌출시키는 축조 이부성형술의 방법으로는, 매식체 삽입술, 골 절단술, 골 절제술 또는 이들을 동시에 시행하는 혼합술등이 행해져 왔다. 그러나 매식체 삽입술에서는 감염 또는 매식체의 유동성 등의 합병증의 발병이 빈발하고 매식체의 밑 부위에 골이 흡수된다든지 연조직의 변화를 예측하기 어렵다든지 하는 복잡한 문제점들이 종종 보고되고 있다. 따라서 매식체를 이용하지 않는 골 절단술이나 골 절제술만을 이용한 다양한 방법의 이부성형술이 많이 시행되고 있다. 하악골이 전후방 관계로 발육부전인 환자에게 양측 하악지 시상분할술을 시행하여 전방 이동시킨 후 앞 턱의 위치를 좀더 개선하기 위하여 $Michel{\'{e}}t$ 테크닉의 변형법을 이용한 이부성형술을 추가로 시행하였다. 이 방법의 이부성형술은 턱의 수직적, 수평적 길이를 증가시키기 위하여 하악결합면 부위에 장부와 장붓구멍 모양을 한 골 절단술을 시행하고 광범위한 연조직경을 보존하여 골편으로의 혈류 차단을 최소화하였으며 나사를 이용한 견고한 고정을 용이하게 하였다. 이 술식은 턱을 수직적으로 증가시킬 때 두 골편 사이의 공간에 골 이식을 시행할 필요가 없으며, 금속판을 이용하지 않아도 정확한 위치에 골편을 고정하기가 용이하고, 또한 고정용 나사가 향후 골형성 부위에 위치하게 된다는 장점을 경험하게 되어 이에 한 증례를 보고하는 바이다.
