도장부스의 발화에 관한 연구

  • 도장작업은 기계 기구, 금속, 자동차, 전기 전자, 선박, 가구제조업 등 각종 사업장에서 많이 취급되고 있는 작업으로서 취급물질이 대부분 합성수지 유기용매 등 인화성 또는 가연성 액체이거나 가연성 분체로서 용매 또는 분진으로 인한 폭발 화재의 위험성이 아주 높은 실정이다. 보통 4류 위험물의 유증기는 공기보다 무겁다 라는 생각으로 발생된 모든 유증기는 위험물 인근에 체류할 것이라는 생각을 하지만 상온에서 증발한 유증기 대부분은 인근의 대기와의 밀도차에 의해 주변으로 흩어지거나 연소하고 중량(重量)의 유증기만이 남아 화재조사에서 중요한 단서로 역할을 한다. 대부분분의 페인트 제품이 가열과 동시에 끊기 시작해서 비등점 측정이 어려웠고 발화점이 비슷한 다른 페인트에 비해 중량(重量)유증기 발생이 단시간 동안 낮은 온도에서 많이 발생한 것은 페인트의 안료가 유증기 발생을 방해해서 시너의 유증기 발생량과 동일한 양의 페인트 유증기 발생시간이 더 걸린 것 같다. 대부분의 유증기는 집진시설을 통해 A/C타워의 활성탄에 흡착되어 제거된다. 하지만 슬러지에 남아있는 희석제는 A/C타워를 정지하고 집진시설등의 배관에 있는 슬러지 청소 과정에서 주위 열원에 의해 많은 유증기를 발생하여 화재의 위험성이 존재함으로 작업자의 각별한 주의가 필요하다.

The Study on the Development of Environmental-friendly Surface Material Using Condensed Tannin (축합형 탄닌을 이용한 친환경 건축마감재 개발에 관한 연구)

  • Medium-density fiberboard (MDF) is widely used as an indoor building materials. However, formaldehyde resins, commonly used to bind MDF together, emit formaldehyde and other volatile organic compounds that cause health risk at sufficient concentration. In this study, condensed tannin having formaldehyde absorption ability was used to solve the problem of formaldehyde emission generated from surface material. The synthesis of melamine-formaldehyde resin and reaction of melamine-formaldehyde and condensed tannin were analyzed by FT-IR spectrum. Also surface properties, such as shear force, impact strength, tape adhesion, pencil hardness and gloss retention were measured. Free formaldehyde analysis was performed to analyze remaining unreacted formaldehyde. According to the results, the optimum shear force and impact strength could be obtained by 10 wt.% usage of condensed tannin. In cases of pencil hardness and gloss retention, the optimum properties could be obtained at 20 wt.% of condensed tannin. The amounts of formaldehyde emission of surface material containing 20 wt.% of condensed tannin was 59 ${\mu}g/m^2{\cdot}h$. The amounts of formaldehyde emission could be reduced 3 times by using 20 wt.% of condensed tannin.

Alternative Method for the Treatment of Chemical Wastes Containing Uranium (우라늄함유 화학폐수의 적정처리 기술)

  • Chemical wastes are generated from nuclear facilities and R&D laboratories, but the uranium concentration in the final dried cake is evaluated into 11.2 Bq/g, which exceeds the exemption level of 10 Bq/g for each U isotopes, so the cake is categorized into a radioactive waste. Acid dissolution was applied to extract uranium from the waste sludge, and uranium adsorption on the dissolved solution was experimented by using IRN-77 and Diphosil bead. A large amount of resin was required to get above 80% of uranium removal, which was found to be due to a large amount of metal ions simultaneously dissolved from the precipitates with uranium. As an alternative method, acid dissolution is applied to the dewatered wet cake of the sludge, and the natural evaporation method is adopted for the dissolved solution. The uranium concentration of the dissolved solution was estimated to be 6.97E-01 Bq/ml, and the specific activity of the final waste sheets is evaluated to be 4.3 Bq/g. These results lead to the suggestion that the application of acid dissolution to the wet cake and the natural evaporation for the dissolved solution is an effective treatment method for chemical wastes containing uranium.

Identification and Physical Characteristics of the Ancient Charcoals Excavated from Chudong-ri Site, Korea (서천 추동리 문화유적에서 채취된 숯의 수종식별과 물리적 특성)

  • The identification of species, hygroscopic property, and ability of ethylene gas absorption of 23 ancient charcoals excavated from wooden coffin burials and roof-tile kilns of Chudong-ri cultural site were investigated. All of the 12 charcoals excavated from wooden coffin burials were broad-leaved trees. Among the total 12 samples, 9 samples were Lepidobalanus and others were Celtis spp.. On the other hand, other 11 charcoals from roof-tile kilns were needle-leaved tree, Pinus spp.(hard pine). The broad-leaved tree charcoals from wooden coffin burials showed a higher moisture absorption capacity than needle-leaved tree charcoals from roof-tile kilns. The ethylene gas absorption was greater in the Lepidobalanus charcoal than that of Celtis spp. and Pinus spp. (hard pine) charcoal. The broad-leaved tree charcoal having high absorption ability of substances was due to a large microporous and specific surface area. Therefore, it was estimated that broad-leaved tree charcoals were filled in order to make favorable condition in tomb. The wood quality of pine is soft and easy to burn because of low specific gravity, as well as high calorific value by resin in wood. We could assume that the pine wood was used as fuel for roof-tile kilns because of easy control of heating and thermal power.

  • Es konnte nachgewiesen werden, daß die erwartete lineare Funktion der $V_{max}$- und $V_{HWB}$-Großen in Abhangigkeit vom Saulenquerschnitt vorhanden ist. Allerdings ließ sich diese Abhangigkeit noch bei Saulen mit 3 mm Durchmesser bestatigen, was bei 20∼50 mesh Kornern wesentlich unter der Grenze der ublicherweise angenommen Randgangigkeit liegt. Der Einfluß der Stromugsgeschwindigkeit macht sich bei den $V_{max}$-Werten ales kleines negatives und bei den V_{HWB}-Werten als starkeres positives Glied bemerkbar. Die damit nachgewiesene Bandeverbreiterung weist auf den Vorteil moglichst geringer Stromungsgeschwindigkeiten bei schwierigen Trennproblemen hin. Die Auftragungsmengen beeinflußten die $V_{max}$- and $V_{HWB}$-Werte durch additive Glieder. Die Unterschiede in den $V_{max}$}-Werte wurden bei den verwente Nukliden (Co und Mn) bei hoheren applizierten Mengen so gering, daß kein Trenneffekt mehr zustande kam. Durch Trennung von Co($K_D$ = 68.2) und Mn($K_D$ = 71.8) konnten die erhaltenen Formulierungen uberpruft und verhaltnismaßig gut bestatigt werden.

Physical Properties of Hybrid Boards Composed of Green Tea, Charcoals and Wood Fiber (녹차-숯-목재섬유 복합보드의 물리적 특성)

  • In this study, eco-friendly hybrid composite boards were manufactured from green tea, three kinds of charcoals and wood fiber for developing interior materials to reinforce the functionalities such as the deodorization and the absorbability on the green tea-wood fiber hybrid boards in the previous researches. The effects of kind of raw materials and the component ratio of raw materials on dimensional stability, deodorization and emission of formaldehyde were investigated. Thickness swelling of the hybrid composite boards increased with increasing of component ratio of green tea and charcoals, but the values were markedly lower than that of Korean standard (KS) for commercial medium density fiber board (MDF), except for hybrid composite boards composed of greed tea, activated charcoal and wood fiber. Reduction rate of ammonia gas for the hybrid composite boards composed of green tea, activated charcoal and wood fiber showed a high value of 96% after 30 minute from the beginning of the test, and the other hybrid boards also showed a high value of about 95% after one hour. Emission amount of formaldehyde was similar to that of $E_0$ grade in case of using $E_1$ grade urea resin, and was similar to that of super $E_0$ grade in case of using $E_0$ grade urea resin.

Recovery of Gallium from Steelmaking Dust (제강더스트로부터 갈륨의 회수)

  • A process has been studied to recover gallium from steelmaking dust which had several hundreds ppm of gallium. Aqueous solution containing 38 mg/l gallium was obtained by leaching of dust with 2.25 mol/l sulfuric acid. The leach liquor contained iron and zinc about 1,000 times greater than gallium. Gallium was then concentrated by ion exchanger of chelating resin with functional group of amino carboxylic acid after reduction of ferric ion to ferrous ion and pH adjustment. Gallium was concentrated to be 13 g/l in the resulting eluate by double ion exchanges. The liquor was further treated to remove impurities by solvent extraction technique empolying TOMAC as extractant. The galluim with 99% purity was finally obtainable.

  • Indium is one of the rare metals, and it has been used mainly for preparation of indium tin oxide (ITO). This review investigated the process parameters and the merits and demerits of several methods to recover indium from the leaching solution of secondary resources, such as solvent extraction, ion exchange, and precipitation. D2EHPA has been used mostly as a cationic extractant for indium extraction in moderate acid solutions, while amine extractants are used in strong hydrochloric acid solution. Since the loading capacity of resins for indium is generally small, ion exchange has some advantage over solvent extraction only when the concentration of indium is low.

Antioxidative and Cytotoxicity Activities against Human Colon Cancer Cells Exhibited by Edible Crude Saponins from Soybean Cake (대두박 식용사포닌의 항산화 및 대장암세포 성장 억제효과)

  • To develop soybean cake as a functional food material, the anti-oxidative and cytotoxic activities against human colon cancer cells of crude saponins isolated from 70% (v/v) ethanol extracts of cake were investigated. The Diaion HP-20 adsorption method was used for isolation of crude saponins, which were then eluted with 100% ethanol. The non-saponin fraction was removed by elution with $H_2O$ and 20% (v/v) ethanol. The results of thin layer chromatography (TLC) analysis confirmed that crude saponins were present in the 100% ethanol extract of soybean cake. The hydrogen-donating properties of saponins were more than 60% at a concentration of $1,000\;{\mu}g/mL$. malondialdehyde(MDA) production was $1,200\;{\mu}mol\;MDA/g$ in mouse liver homogenate treated with crude saponins at the concentration of $1,000\;{\mu}g/mL$. This value was lower than that of the control, which was $3,700\;{\mu}mol\;MDA/g$. Saponins inhibited the growth of colon cancer cells in a dose- and time-dependent manner. Saponins also resulted in a decrease in the proportion of cells in the G1 phase of the cell cycle, whereas the cell proportion in G2/M phase was increased with $1,000\;{\mu}g/mL$ saponins. Thus, we conclude that saponins may induce G2/M cell cycle arrest.

Separation of High Purity Terbium Using Extraction Chromatography (추출 크로마토그래피를 이용한 고순도 테르븀의 분리)

  • Extraction chromatography was used to scarch optimum separation conditions of terbium. Stationary phase was 2-ethylhexyl-2-ethylhexyl phosphonic acid(HEH[EHP])levextrel (-100~+150 mesh), column size was ${\Phi}20{\times}530mm$ and kept constantly temperature at $50^{\circ}C$, adsorption flow rate of $0.2mL/cm^2{\cdot}min$, elution flow rate of $1.0mL/cm^2{\cdot}min$, column diameter to packing height of 1:15. But to search optimum separation conditions of terbium, it changed the eluent acidity, the loading weight of sample. the composition of sample. In conclusion, acidity was 0.6 N HCl, loading weight of sample was about 5% and composition of sample was $Gd_2O_3(20%)+Tb_4O_7(60%)+Dy_2O_3(20%)$. Moreover purity of separated terbium by ICP-AES analysis was 99.98% in yield of 99.99%.
