  • An experimental study was carried out for the estimate of the properties of concrete contained an antiwashout admixtures. Properties of antiwashout under water concrete clearly differed from other types of concrete. This paper reports the effects of specific types, dosage of antiwashout admixtures and superplasticizer. The test results have indicated that dosage of antiwashout admixture and superplsticizer to improve the antiwashing property, fluidity and compressive strength will be approximately 2.5kg/$\textrm{m}^3$, 8~10kg/$\textrm{m}^3$ of the weight of concrete each. When cellulous ether type antiwashout admixture is added with a napthalen sulphonate superplasticizer, resulting in reduced whole properties of antiwasout under water concrete.

  • This paper presents the history of heat hydration and the core strength of underwater non-segregation concrete. Three types of cements including Type I, Type V and low-heat cement have been used to make the mass specimens for measurement of heat of hydration and also for coring. Two environments of ambient and underwater conditions have been accounted for the comparison of producing the heat of hydration and for the assessment of core strength in respect to the test specimens made under normal practice.

  • Nowadays, antiwashout underwater concrete is widely used for constructing underwater concrete structures but they, especially placed in marine environment, can be easily attacked by chemical ions such as SO$\^$2-/$\_$4/ Cl$\^$-/ and Mg$\^$2+/, so the quality and capability of concrete structures go down. In this paper, to solve and improve those matters, flyash and GGBFS(ground granulated blast furnace slag) were used as partial replacements for ordinary portland cement. As results of experiments for fundamental properties of antiwashout underwater concrete containing 10, 20, 30% of flyash and 40, 50, 60 % of GGBFS respectively, setting time, air contents, suspended solids and pH value were satisfied with the "Standard Specification of Antiwashout Admixtures for Concrete" prescribed by KSCE, and also slump flow, efflux time and elevation of head were more improved than that of control concrete. From the compressive strength test, it was revealed that the antiwashout underwater concrete containing mineral admixtures(flyash and GGBFS) is more effective for long term compressive strength than control concrete. An attempt to know how durable when they are under chemical attack has also been done by immersing in chemical solutions that were x2 artificial seawater, 5 % sulphuric acid solution, 10%, sodium sulfate solution and 10% calcium chloride solution. After immersion test for 91days, XRD analysis was carried out to investigate the reactants between cement hydrates and chemical ions and some crystalline such as gypsum ettringite and Fridel′s salt were confirmed.

  • As a part of the study on the development of augered pile method, this study is intended to investigate the properties of fresh and hardened mortar with the proportion of expansion additives. With the increase of proportion of expansion additives, the fluidity of mortar shows a decrease while air content increases and setting time gets retarded. It show the satisfactory property in strength at 5% of proportion, and shows more expansion with the increase of proportion of expansion additives and sand/cement ratio. In conclusion, both of strength and expansion reveal appropriate at 10% of proportion of expansion additives.

  • Recently the use of the antiwashout underwater concrete with the antiwashout admixture is increased considerably. Antiwashout underwater concrete is quite different in concept from conventional underwater concrete. By mixing an antiwashout admixture with concrete, the viscosity of the concrete is increased and its resistance to segregation under the washing action of water is enhanced. The aim of this research is to evaluate the fundamental characteristics and permeability of antiwashout underwater concrete with fly ash and blast-furnace slag. Test Results of antiwashout underwater concrete with fly ash and blast-furnace slag fluence can provide its excellent fundamental characteristics and resistance of permeability.

  • In this study, an experiment was performed to analyze the influence of water-cement ratio on the fundamental characteristics of antiwashout underwater concrete using blended sand (sea sand:river sand = 1:1). The water-cement ratio (45%, 50%, 55%, 60%), andtiwashout underwater agent contents (0.82%, 1.00%, 1.14% of water contents per unit volume of concrete), and superplasticizer contents (1.5%, 2.0%, 2.5% of cement contents per unit volume of concrete) were chosen as the experimental parameters. The experimental results show that the underwater segregation resistance, unit weight of hardening concrete and compressive strength were increased as the water-cement ratio decreased and as the antiwashout underwater agent contents increased. On the other hand, the flowability(slump flow) was increased to the 55% of the increase of water-cement ratio, however, it was decreased at the ratio of 60%. From this study, the antiwashout underwater concrete can potentially be used as a materials underwater work of ocean if the water-cement ratio and chemical admixture contents for the suitable balance between cost and performance are properly selected.

  • Admixtures for concrete placed underwater have been developed to the stage that they are now widely used. The use of this type of product allows concrete to be placed underwater with far less risk than was previously possible. One of the problems facing users of underwater concreting admixtures is how does one test such products in order to access their performance initially while minimizing the expense of carrying out site trials. This paper will introduce three categories of laboratory test for underwater concrete listed next : fluidity test, non-segregation test, strength test. Trial underwater concretes were ordinary Portland cement. Strength and workability development and segregation resistance properties of the concrete under the coexistence of some kinds of superplasticizer were studied for this laboratory tests.

  • Recently, the antiwahout underwater concrete with an natiwashout admixture has been increasingly used for underwater structures. However, the credibility of antiwahout underwater concrete was brought up as problems because it was seldom applied to fields. In this study, experiments were made on the basic properties of antiwashout underwater concrete replaced with GGBF Slag from 40% to 60% to improve its properties. Resultant to the test, we got the results as follows; the difference of U-type heght was decreased, and the slump flow was increased. Whereas the amount of suspended solids became high as to increasing the replacement ratio of GGBF Slag, pH value became low. Beacause the ratio of compressive strengths (in water compared to in air) at 28days was obtained over 90%, its value is satisfied with 70% of a criterion.

  • The objective of this study is to investigate the compressive strength property of antiwashout underwater concrete with curing water through experimental researches. Type of casting and curing water(fresh water, sea water) are used as main experimental parameter, additionally a few variables affecting compressive strength property are used ; water-cement ratio (45%, 48%, 50%, 52%, 55%), and unit weight of admixtures (antiwashout underwater agent ; 0.6%, 0.8%, 1.0%, 1.2%, 1.4% of unit weight of water, superplasticizer ; 0.5%, 1.0%, 1.5%, 2.0%, 2.5% of unit weight of cement)) Compressive strength level of antiwashout underwater concrete which was cast and cured in fresh water is higher than other one. Consequently, incremental modulus has to increase when the antiwashout underwater concrete is made use of underwater work from ocean.

  • In case of constructing the concrete structures under seawater environment, the concrete suffers from deterioration due to penetration of various ions such as chloride, sulfate and magnesium in seawater. Tn the present study, Immersion tests with artificial seawater were carried out to investigate the resistance to seawater attack of antiwashout underwater concrete. From the results of compressive strength, it was found that blended cement concrete due to mineral admixtures such as fly ash(FA) and ground granulated blast-furnace slag(SGC), were superior to ordinary portland cement concrete with respect to the resistance to seawater attack. Moreover, XRD analysis indicated that the formed reactants of ordinary portland cement paste by sulfate and magnesium ions led to the deterioration of concrete. As expected, however, the blended cements with FA or SGC have a good resistance to seawater attack. This paper would discuss the mechanism of seawater deterioration and benefical effects of antiwashout underwater concretes with mineral admixtures.
