  • Three seasme cultivars were compared in viewpoints of ripening developments and yielding potentials per plant after the flowering date. On this study, timely ripening and yielding developments were checked separately with capsules and seeds which outcome from the flowers labelled at 30th of July, the maximum flowering stage. Mostly, size and dry weight developments were estimated and the results obtained are as follows; 1. "Early Russian" was recognized as an ideal cultivar with large sized capsule and high lipid contents. However, under the enough ripening periods and ripening conditions (temperature, lights, and nutrients, etc.), the cultivar has weakness on the capsule developments which is competed with seed developments as mean of sink concern. 2. "Suwon 5" was a high yielding cultivar under the proper ripening weather (F. ex. southern districts), but under the unfavorable ripening conditions the cultivar may have weakness of rapid yield decrease by comparatively later formation of seed weight than the capsule. Especially the cultivar has the very ripening characteristics adapting to southern districts which have higher temperature and later low limiting stage for sesame ripening. 3. "Black colored native" seasme cultivar showed lower yielding and later ripening characteristics among others. Also, under the unfavorable ripening conditions, the cultivar has the weakness of yield decrease. Even under the favorable conditions, the cultivar will still have the weakness which is not able to increase in yield, because the capsule development would be finished in size and dry weight too early to accept the later developments of seeds.e later developments of seeds.

  • Experiments were conducted to know N, P, and K top dressing effects on yield and other agronomic characters of rice plants grown in 5-year differently fertilized soils. Four levels of nitrogen, 0, 1.2, 2.4, and 3.6kg/10a, were applied 32 days before heading in 5-year non-fertilized and PK applied plots. Four levels of P_2 $O_{5}$ and K_2 O of 0, 4, 8 and 12kg/l0a were applied 40 days before heading in 5-year NK and NP applied plots, respectively. 1. Heading was delayed by seven days in 5-year non-fertilized and PK applied plots compared to NK, NP, or NPK applied plots where nitrogen was applied as basal. However, in 5-year non-fertilized and PK applied plots heading was delayed from 1 to 4 days as amounts of nitrogen top dressing increased. Phosphorus and potassium did not affect heading date of rice plants. 2. In 5-year non-fertilized plot grain yield increased as amounts of nitrogen top dressing increased up to 2.4kg/l0a due to both increased number of panicles per hill and spikelets per panicle. However, in 5-year PK applied plot amounts of nitrogen top dressing did not affect grain yield; the number of panicle per hill increased, but the percentage of ripened grains and grain weight tended to decrease as nitrogen levels increase. 3. The number of panicle/maximum tillers ratio in percentage increased markedly as amounts of nitrogen top dressing increased in 5-year non-fertilized and PK applied plots with maximum value of 130% on the basis of maximum tillers at vegetative stage. 4. Top dressing of phosphorus and potassium did not affect yield and other agronomic characters in NK and NP applied plots.

  • This study was conducted to provide basic information to breeders and agronomists working with sesame. Grain filling rate were investigated for eight plant types classified by branching habit, capsules per axil, carpels and loculi of a capsule. Two typical cultivars were chosen for plant type among 527 gene pools. Grain filling rate didn't increase with little difference between lower and middle part capsules, Jut significantly decreased in upper part. Grain filling rate of lower part, main stem and center capsules appeared higher than that of upper part, branch and side capsule for grain filling. Mono-capsule setting and unbranched plant type were higher for grain filling than tricapsule setting and branched type due to inactive ripenness on branched capsule. NMB type showed that best maturity and relatively good grain filling in BTB type despite it's largest sink capacity. NTQ and BTQ type appeared poor ripenness because of immaturity of higher part side capsules; however it was believed that there were still possibilities for improving ripenness in 3 capsule and 4 carpels 8 loculi type by the good maturity of 1 capsule and 4 carpels 8 loculi type.

  • This research is attempted to investigate Dongcheon-rock inscription- to understand symbolic meanings from inscribed texts and to find its construction purpose. For the investigation, 25 target areas were selected for field exploration and literature review regarding Dongcheon were also performed. Several design characteristics of Dongcheon are as follows: First, Dongcheon has four criteria according to creation purpose: residential type(家居地型), hermitage type(隱棲地型), nature excursion type(山水遊覽型), aesthetic scenery type(勝景型), moral training type(修身型) and spiritual discipline type(修道地型). This category shows that Dongcheon is constructed at residential area, shelters, and place for leisure, mortal training and spiritual discipline. Second, Dongcheon is also classified by its location: location on village entrance in a deep forest(深山同口型) and location on near stream(溪流隣接型); location on near stream has also two types(連繫型, 單一領域型): location on an independent territory and location horizontal ground(平地型). Through garden creators' managing their garden in forest, valley and scenic spots, they pursue utopia. Third, naming is a way to create new landscape places. By naming a certain natural landscape as Dongcheon, the landscape is symbolized as utopia, appearing fairyland. Designer's desire and thoughts are saturated in Dongcheon.

  • This study is to examine the energy budget of Hexagrammos agrammus in the natural habitat, based on the von Bertalanffy's growth model using food consumption and growth data of the fish. The fish were collected at the coasts of Tongbaek Island in Pusan and Shinsu Island in Samchonpo, Korea. The standard energy budget model was adopted for this study and the model has the components of toed consumption (C), production (G), assimilation (A), absorption ($A_b$), catabolism (R), excreta (U) and feces (F). These components were expressed as mass unit, not as calorie unit as usual. Both the mass and the proportion of each component varied with age of the fish, The mass of annual excreta declined as the fish became older, while those of the other components increased with the age. The relationship between mean weight (W) and annual absorption ($A_b$) was a non-linear one with the equation of $A_b=4.592W^{0.666}$, while that between mean weight (W) and annual catabolism (R) was linear as R=0.007+0.567W. On the other hand, the annual food consumption (C) showed linear relations both with annual assimilation (A) and annual catabolism (R) as A= -7.026+0.061C and R=-20.749+0.048C, respectively.

  • Laser stimulation has been widely studied and used in clinic. However, electrical response by laser stimulation on meridians has not been investigated. In this study, we compared electric potential of laser and acupuncture stimulation on meridians. We measured electric potential variation at acupoints(Samgan(LI3) and Hapgok(LI4)) on Large Intestine Meridian. In laser stimulation results, average peak electric potential is very low($7.53{\pm}3.44{\mu}V$) for before and after stimulation. However, acupuncture stimulation was performed in ground connection condition and resulted in huge variation of average peak electric potential($2.65{\pm}1.53mV$). That is, the intensity and pattern of electric potential were dependent on the ground connection condition and individual. Also, the electric potential pattern was very similar to the pattern of electric charge and discharge of capacitor. The acupuncture stimulation using a insulating needle resulted in lower average peak electric potential variation($0.25{\pm}0.16mV$) than that of acupuncture stimulation. It might present little electrical response of acupuncture stimulation using insulating needles. In point of electrical response, the laser stimulation was determined to be no acupuncture effect at meridian. Acupuncture stimulation seems to be most effective method to induce electrical response at meridians. The procedure and effect of acupuncture might be considered as energy consensus phenomenon by transportation of bio-ion charge between a practitioner and patient.

  • In this essay I aimed to analyze the concept of cultivation in east asian aesthetics. Most people regarded traditional asian paintings as an artwork that was obviously an artwork by artists. Moreover, they emphasized the cultivation of artists in their creation and used to accept the concept of cultivation which means cultivating one's mind. Generally speaking, to cultivate one's mind meant enlarging one's ethical behavior and he or she became a better person. And in creation, it meant considering all things more deeply. In this point of view, it was too vague to notice the meaning. What is an accurate meaning of cultivate artist's mind? What was the relation between creation and cultivation? In confucian philosophy, the concept of cultivation had two meanings. One was to enlarge one's ethical behavior and the other was to improve one's knowledge about things. The knowledge implied all of the one's experiences about things. Thus, the knowledge meant what he communicated with under his surroundings and created. In this perspective, to analyze the case of "Dohwaguenmungi" and "Limchungochi", cultivation was related to 'you(游)' and 'jing(精)'. It implied all of the artist's efforts to make communication with his objects deeper and wider, at last, he created his own meaning about object that he experienced. Therefore, I suggest that when we use the concept of cultivation in the context of creation, it should be used as the meaning related with improving one's knowledge about things.

  • Li Zehou(李澤厚) regards Chuang-tzu's fatalism as a kind of pessimism and slavish conformism. The main issue of this paper is to opposes Li Zehou(李澤厚)'s view, and reveal that Chuang-tzu's fatalism is not the negative and slavish conformism but the true positivism of the fate. These Chuang-tzu's fatalism can be conceptualized as a 安之若命. When the human was faced with unavoidable fate, Chuang-tzu's 安之若命 is not pessimistically surrender itself to the fate such as a slave, but pleasantly accepts and affirms the fate. Now, the next three process proves that Chuang-tzu's 安之若命 affirms the fate. The attitude of 安之若命, First, takes the unavoidable(不得已) fate as it is. Second, it resolves a humane 'sadness and joy(哀樂)' through 'the forgetting(忘).' Third, it understands the life and death, the change of world, the human body as the stream of energy(氣). Fourth, in conclusion, it affirms the fate by these processes. These point of view can conceptualize as Chuang-tzu's Amor Fati. That is to say, Chuang-tzu' 安之若命 is not a pessimistic but a positive view of the fate.

  • The relationship between Confucian tradition and modern China has been discussed since the last century only on a preconceived level of "pre-modernization" without practical orientation, since the discussion has been referred to the modern West while China has not yet commenced modernization. Such being the case, it is of great significance to revert to this topic in the contemporary context of China's modernization. In other words, such new discussions are concerned with a series of difficulties China is presently confronted. To put it brief, the profit-oriented market economy has bit by bit undermined the traditional customs of the mild agricultural society, resulting in the emotional apathy among people, crush of the ethical order, discard of morality in life, ignorance of man's spiritual existence, and ultimately the extremely unbalanced development of "beggar-thy-neighbor" situation among ethnic groups, countries and regions. Since Confucius time, the Confucian tradition has always been attaching great importance to purify customs through social rules for etiquette and harmony, in the process of which, the ethic order is arranged to promote the emotional communication among group members, the individuals are cultivated to enhance their spiritual realms, and most importantly, those social rules for etiquette and harmony are casted as forms of civilization so as to achieve peace and harmony of the whole world. The integration of these three aspects of the Confucian tradition can undoubtedly provide a reference for solving considerable problems confronted by modern China.

  • In both the East and the West, the most classical question in classical philosophy was, "What is truly a human virtue and a good man?" A good man realized a human virtue. A good man was composed of mind and body. The question is harmony of mind and body. This article aims to articulate the terms related on Mind and Body in Confucian analects. We analyzed the terms related to Mind (mind, mind-heart, human nature, feeling, will etc) and we analyzed the terms related to Body (body, self, ki etc). Confucius's Theory of Mind and Body Relation focus on self-cultivation and revelation of universal virtue. Chu-his(1130-1200)'s commentary of the terms related on Mind and Body in Confucian analects is based on Heaven's principle vs. man's desire. He advanced the theory of the human mind and moral mind on the bases of Li-Ki. Dasan(1762-1836) deconstructs the mind-law of 16 characters and the theory of Li-KI. He argues that the human mind and moral mind coexist as a servant and a master. Dasan insists that the human mind is controlled by the moral mind but he wants to reconstruct the new theory of mind-body, mind-heart.
