A Study on Transport Characteristics of Hydrochloric Acid in an Anion Exchange Membrane (음이온 교환막에서 염산의 이동특성 연구)

  • Diffusion dialysis is a membrane process driven by concentration difference using ion-exchange membranes and has been employed for many years for the acid recovery from acidic waste generated in steel, metal-refining and dectro-plating industries. Theoretically acid flux increases in propomon to the acid concentration difference. At acid concentrations higher than 3 N HCl, however, the acid flux had not increased linearly with the concentration difference. In this paper the effects of acid concentrations on diffusion dialysis for hydrochloric acid recovery and the acid transport mechanism in an anion exchange membrane were studied by membrane sorption tests and diffusion clialysis cell tests. The experimental results showed that the molecular diffusion was a major transport mechanism in a low acid concentration range and the proton leakage through an anion exchange membrane played an important role at higher acid concentrations. Also osmotic water transport and membrane dehydration retarded the transport of protons and caused the permeate flux to decrease.

  • 최근 신재생에너지에 대한 관심이 높아지면서 에너지 저장 장치로 친환경적인 2차 전지가 전기 에너지 저장 매체로 관심을 받고 있다. 2차 전지는 다양한 전자기기의 구동전원으로 널리 사용되고 있다. 2차 전지의 수명은 충방전과 관련이 있으며, 특히 니켈 수소 전지의 경우 과충전에 의한 온도 상승은 배터리 수명에 직접적인 영향을 준다. 경제성을 고려할 때 2차 전지는 배터리 관리 시스템을 필요로 하며, 충방전 전압과 전류 및 온도를 고려하여 충방전이 제어 되어야 한다. 본 논문은 범용 프로세서와 전압 전류 센서 및 온도센서를 사용하여 배터리의 자동 충방전 데이터 수집장치를 개발에 관한 것이다. 충방전 전압은 0.5V에서 15V까지 설정이 가능하도록 설계하였다. 제작된 장치로 충방전에 따른 배터리의 온도 변화가 측정 및 분석 가능 하였으며, 배터리 전압은 5mV 단위로 충방전이 가능함을 확인하였다.

Effect of Hydrogen Purge Mode on the Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cell (PEMFC) Performance under Dead-ended Anode Operation (양극 닫힌계 작동에서 수소 배출 방법에 의한 고분자전해질 연료전지 성능 영향)

  • As the hydrogen fuel cell market is expanded starting from hydrogen electric vehicle and power generation field, the demand for fuel cells and hydrogen increases recently. Therefore, research works on fuel cell durability and fuel efficiency are required in order to activate the fuel cell market and commercialization. A dead-ended anode system was used in this study to optimize the fuel cell performance and fuel efficiency. The effect of purge condition according to the applied current and hydrogen supply pressure on the fuel cell performance were evaluated. In addition, the influence of water back diffusion on the different electrolyte membrane thickness was analyzed. The accumulated water was purged with a solenoid valve in the case of 3% voltage decrease in the dead-ended anode system. The experiment was performed with the hydrogen supply pressure of 0.1~0.5 bar and purge duration of 0.1~1 second. A maximum fuel efficiency of 98.9% was achieved under the purge duration of 0.1 s and hydrogen supply pressure of 0.1 bar with a NR 211 (25.4 um) membrane. However, the fuel cell performance decreased in a long-term operation due to some frequent flooding. The fuel efficiency and purge interval increased due to decreased back diffusion rates of the water and nitrogen with a NR 212 (50.8 um) membrane.

  • 본 논문에서는 유량변화에 따른 200W급 PEMFC 운전특성을 연구하였다. 연료공급은 수소탱크와 공기공급용 컴프레셔를 이용하였고 유량은 MFC를 이용하여 제어하였다. 연료의 가습은 Bubbling type을 사용하였고 유량변화에 대한 반응차이를 크게 보기 위해 Back pressure 레귤레이터를 제거함으로써 확연한 차이를 얻을 수 있었다.

  • The aging and declining agricultural population in the modern society requires improvement of the agricultural environment and is one of the representative problems. And since most of the work systems always require a transport work, the ratio of labor consumed in the transport work is very high. Accordingly, many types of transport vehicles are being developed and sold, and in the early days, most of them are powered transport vehicles using fossil fuels. However, it is paying attention to next-generation eco-friendly energy such as hydrogen, fuel cells, solar power, and bio due to the strengthening of international environmental regulations such as global warming and the Convention on Climate Change and the depletion of fossil fuels. Therefore, in this study, the ultimate goal is to develop an eco-friendly, easy-to-operate, safe agricultural electric vehicle that replaces fossil fuels. It was designed with a focus on controlling a wide range of vehicle speeds and securing stability of electric agricultural vehicles. Considering the performance and design, it is composed of a frame, a driving part, a steering part, and a controller system, and we are going to review and manufacture each part. It is believed that the manufactured electric vehicle for agriculture can be easily and conveniently operated in an agricultural society where young manpower is scarce, and can be helpful to the agricultural society through high efficiency.

Comparative Studies among Bull, Steer and Heifer on Growth Performance, Blood Composition and Carcass Characteristics According to Fattening Phase in Hanwoo (한우 암소, 수소, 거세우의 비육단계별 발육성적과 혈액성상 및 도체특성에 관한 비교연구)

  • This study was conducted to compare among bull, steer and heifer on growth performance, blood composition and carcass traits according to fattening phase in Hanwoo. 12 month of aged 4 bulls ($339.8{\pm}18.5kg$), 4 steers ($309.8{\pm}13.2kg$), and 3 heifers ($290.0{\pm}16.7kg$) were allocated in the stalls with individual feeding system during 20 months. Average daily gain was not different among the treatment groups during early fattening phase, but higher in the bulls and lower in the heifers after mid-fattening phase (p<0.05). The difference of body size by animal groups appeared from 24 month of age, and wither height and body length of Hanwoo heifer were the smallest (p<0.05) among treatment group. But wither height was not difference among treatment groups at 32 month of age. At 12 month of age, concentrations of serum cholesterol, triglyceride, glucose and total protein were higher in the heifers compared to other groups, and serum GPT (Glutamic pyruvic transaminase) was the highest (p<0.05) in the bulls, and serum GOT (Glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase) was the highest (p<0.05) at late fattening phase in the bulls. Meat yield index was similar between the bulls and the heifers, and the lowest (p<0.05) in the steers. Marbling score was significantly higher (p<0.05) in the steers and the heifers than in the bulls, and meat quality was the best in the steers among treatment groups. The results of this experiment might be used as a basal data on difference between gender in revision of Korean feeding standard for Hanwoo.

Analysis of Private Road Toll Discounts and Subsidy Payment Plan for Sunset-type Vehicles (민자도로의 통행료 할인 현황과 일몰형 통행차량의 보조금 지급 방안)

  • Vehicle toll discounts on private roads are categorized into two types: non-sunset and sunset. Sunset types refer to provisions in which all or part of a law loses its effect upon a specific legislator-set deadline. Vehicles eligible for 'sunset' discounts include cargo vehicles operating late at night and eco-friendly vehicles powered by electricity or hydrogen. Korean government has subsidized all reduced toll fees for vehicles classified as non-sunset types on private roads to operators, but no subsidies have been provided for toll reductions on sunset vehicles. The rapid increase in electric hydrogen vehicles escalates the burden of reduced toll revenue on private road operators. This study analyzed traffic volume and toll reduction data from eight private road operators nationwide as of the end of 2023 to propose the necessity and method of supporting sunset-type toll reduction subsidies. In 2022, the subsidy for non-sunset types amounted to 87.5 billion won, or 18.6 % of total traffic revenue. The toll exemption and reduction ratio under the concession agreement ranged from 4.0 % to 5.65 % of total traffic volume for each operator. Although the proportion of vehicles exempted from sunset traffic increased from 0.85 % in 2017 to 2.79 % in 2022, the reduction amount ratio reached 4.2 % (KRW 25.5 billion) of total traffic revenue in 2022. The escalating number of registered eco-friendly vehicles is gradually causing operating profit losses on private roads. In alignment with the government's policy to expand eco-friendly vehicles, it is imperative to consider including vehicles eligible for toll reductions listed under the sunset category for subsidy payments. The study established a minimum ratio for toll reduction assistance at 4.0 %, agreed upon between the road authorities and private operators. Three policy alternatives were proposed to ensure preservation of amounts exceeding this threshold for sustaining adequate toll revenue for private road operators.

Effect of the Hydrophilic Treatment of Polyolefin Separator on the Electrochemical Characteristics for Ni-MH Secondary Battery (폴리올레핀계 분리막의 친수화 처리방법에 따른 Ni-MH 2차 전지의 전기화학적 특성연구)

  • It was investigated the electrochemical characteristics of the Ni-MH battery by hydrophilic process. For adopting the Ni-MH battery in water-electrolyte, polyolefin separator was processed the hydrophilic treatment. No treatment sample did not meet KS standard (KSC 8544) but hydrophilic treatment ones satisfied with the KS standard in electrochemical characteristics, such as discharge performance, retention capacity, and cycle performance. All hydrophilic treatment samples showed similar battery performances. Among them, sulfonation treatment sample exhibited the highest value in aspect of capacity retention rate (> 88%). Furthermore, fluoride treatment sample showed the best cycle performance during battery test. This sample maintained a good cycling performance until $1,480^{th}$ cycle, which was about 3 times as compared with that of KS standard (500 cycle).

Influences of Various Electrolytes on the Low-Temperature Characteristics of Ni-MH Secondary Battery (Ni-MH 2차 전지의 저온특성에 미치는 전해액의 영향)

  • The Ni-MH batteries for HEV and industry are normally placed in outdoor, consequently causing an too weak discharge power problem due to a cold weather specially in winter time. In order to improve the low temperature performances of the Ni-MH battery for HEV and industrial uses, it has been investigated the low temperature discharge characteristics of Ni-MH battery with various electrolytes at $-18^{\circ}C$. The summary of experimental results are as follows. The low temperature characteristics depended strongly on the characteristics of electrolytes. When the concentration of the electrolytes were too high or too low the low temperature performance was poor. The best electrolyte was composed of KOH 6.2M+LiOH 1.2M. An addition of RbOH or CsOH to electrolyte improved the low temperature performance. The best total concentration of electrolyte composed of KOH, NaOH and LiOH was about 7M.
