As technologies have been more quickly developed in this 4th Industry Revolution era, their application to defense industry has been also growing. With these much advanced technologies, we attempt to use Manned-Unmanned Teaming systems in various military operations. In this study, we consider the Location-Routing Problem for reconnaissance surveillance missions of the maritime manned-unmanned surface vehicles. As a solution technique, the two-phase method is presented. In the first location phase, the p-median problem is solved to determine which nodes are used as the seeds for the manned vehicles using Lagrangian relaxation with the subgradient method. In the second routing phase, using the results obtained from the location phase, the Vehicle Routing Problems are solved to determine the search routes of the unmanned vehicles by applying the Location Based Heuristic. For three network data sets, computational experiments are conducted to show the performance of the proposed two-phase method.

Generally, surface vessels have many compartments for operation and living quarters, and each compartment is an important space for the ship's survivability. During ship construction, a compartment leak test is necessary and is carried out on each vessel. However, the current test method is in doubt when looking at the actual test results. The reason is that only one pressure gauge is used for the measurement to check the air, so an uncomprehended phenomenon is detected during group compartment leak tests. From this point of view, an improved test device and method are needed. In this study, a multi-channel data acquisition device with multiple pressure sensors is proposed to detect each compartment's pressure variation or pressure drop. This test is a more confidential compartment leak test than the current method, and the test device can show real-time pressure detection values of each of the pressure sensors, which are installed in each compartment, including unmanned space.

Metal ducts for transporting air conditioning and heating inside ships have recently been replaced by cloth ducts that have the advantage of delivering air evenly to the compartments, with excellent noise reduction in major compartments, such as combat command rooms, steering rooms, and sound detector cabins. Since the performance requirements of fabric ducts for vessels are strict, and the entire length of the ducts was imported from Korea, the government wants to create economic effects through localization of fabric ducts. Air permeability and fire prevention performance tests verified the applicability to naval vessels of fabric ducts developed by Hyundai Heavy Industries and HiDact, and performance requirements presented in the POS were verified. As a result of the tests, the fabric ducts met the requirements for air permeability and fireproof performance.

Since the active sonar for a naval vessel is usually installed in a bulbous bow, GRP(Glass reinforced plastic) material with low density and high strength is used for the material of the sonar dome window in order to prohibit impact by slamming wave or foreign material in the sea. The structural safety of the sonar dome is varied according to the interior and exterior distributed pressure on the sonar dome. Therefore, the variation of the structural safety according to the pressure variation of the sonar dome window caused by the drain valve state is studied by CAE.

The accurate assessment of hull-appendage interaction in the early design stage is important to control the inflow to the propeller plane, which can cause undesirable hydrodynamic effects in terms of cavitation phenomenon. This paper describes a numerical analysis for the flow around a fully appended surface ship model for which KRISO has carried out a model test in the Large Cavitation Tunnel(LCT). This numerical study was performed with the LCT model test in a complementary manner for a good reproduction of the wake distribution of surface ships. A second order accurate finite volume method provided by a commercial computational fluid dynamics(CFD) program was used to solve the governing Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes(RANS) equations, where the SST $k-{\omega}$ model was used for turbulence closure. The numerical results were compared to available LCT experimental data for validation. The calculations gave good predictions for the boundary layer profiles on the walls of the empty cavitation tunnel and the wake at the propeller plane of the fully appended hull model in the LCT.
We consider simulation study combining static and mobile decoys for survivability of a surface warship against torpedo attack. It is assumed that an enemy torpedo is a passive acoustic homing torpedo and detects a target within its maximum target detection range and search beam angle by computing signal excess via passive sonar equation, and a warship conducts an evasive maneuvering with deploying static and mobile decoys simultaneously to counteract a torpedo attack. Suggesting the four different decoy deployment plans to achieve the best plan, we analyze an effectiveness for a warship's survival probability through Monte Carlo simulation, given a certain experimental environment. Furthermore, changing the speed and the source level of decoys, the maximum torpedo detection range of warship, and the maximum target detection range of torpedo, we observe the corresponding survival probabilities, which can provide the operational capabilities of an underwater defense system.

Aegis Combat System(ACS) is a shipboard combat system developed by U.S. Navy. Its name, Aegis, came from a shield 'Aegis' in greek mythology, which Zeus gave to his daughter Athena. U.S. Navy uses Aegis ships(ships which mount ACS) as their main surface forces. It is known as one of the greatest anti-air warfare ship in the world by its ability to detect air threats with AN/SPY-1, phased array radar, superior Target management and command and control capabilities of the combat system, and SM series interceptors. After first Aegis cruiser USS Ticonderoga was deployed at 1983, U.S. Navy continuously put effort in developing Aegis Combat Systems and Aegis ships. They also improve old fashion existing ships by modernize them. In this Paper, to deduct a lesson which Korea Navy should benchmark, it is went through that a history of Aegis ships and development of ACS, and also its feature.

the Naval Combat Management System(CMS) has been installed and used in various ships since its localization, and has been developed by continuously introducing the latest technology. Recently, surface ship CMS have applied server virtualization and desktop virtualization(Virtual Desktop Infra, VDI) technologies among virtualization technologies to increase system stability and limitations on the limited space and weight of ships. On the other hand, submarine CMS do not have virtualization technology applied, so there are limitations in space and weight limitations and CMS efficiency improvement. To this end, this paper proposes a next-generation submarine CMS using Docker-based server virtualization. Through performance analysis between the processor of the existing CMS and the processor to which Docker-based server virtualization was applied, it was confirmed that the method proposed in this paper is applicable to the next-generation submarine CMS.

The submarine is very threatening and secretive weapon system that achieves missions under the sea. However, the submarine is faced with danger that can be attacked from the enemy when is detected by sensor or rose to the surface. This study will be planned optimal path to maximize the survival rate that considers submarine navigation capability in underwater and search activity of hostile warships. A mathematical programming model and a heuristic algorithm will be suggested in this study. The mathematical programming model is verified by using ILOG CPLEX. The submarine path, unit time(distance) of navigation, survival rate, and computation time is computed by using a heuristic algorithm.
