In this study, waterborne polyurethane acrylate were synthesized with polyester polyol, 4,4-dicyclohexylmethane diisocyanate ($H_{12}MDI$), dimethylol propionic acid (DMPA), acrylate monomer to improve the properties and peel strength. In addition, the properties of the synthesized waterborne polyurethane acylate was evaluated through FT-IR, particle size analysis, UTM, peel strength. As the acrylic acid content increased, particle size increased. In the results of mechanical properties, when the acrylic acid contents increased, tensile strength was increased but elongation was decreased. All peel strength was improved as the acrylic acid contents of WPUA and acrylate ratio of PU/acrylate increased. Optimum peel strength obtained when acrylic acid was 0.5 wt%.

In this study, polyurethane dispersion was prepared by polyester polyol, 4,4-dicyclohexylmethane diisocyanate ($H_{12}MDI$), dimethylolpropionic acid (DMPA), and monomeric diol. The effect of various monomeric diol, polyol/monomeric diol molar ratio and DMPA contents on the properties of polyurethane dispersion were investigated. As the molecular weight of monomeric diol and monomeric diol molar ratio increased, $T_g$ gradually increased. And when DMPA contents increased, also $T_g$ gradually increased. In the results of mechanical properties, when the molecular weight of monomeric diol, monomeric diol molar ratio of polyol/monomeric diol and DMPA contents increased, tensile strength was increased. Finally, optimum peel strength obtained when polyol/monomeric diol ratio was 8 : 2.
Hybrid emulsions consisting of polyurethane and acrylic polymer were prepared by emulsion polymerization of acrylic monomers and polyurethane water dispersions (PUD) as an emulsifier. At first, cationic type of PUD was synthesized with IPDI, PTMG1000, MDEA, and acetic acid. Then, acrylic monomers, such as MMA and n-BA, were copolymerized with the PUD without adding further surfactant. The tensile properties and water resistance increased with increasing acrylic monomer ratio. The hybrid emulsions showed better properties than the emulsions simply blended with the PUD and the acrylic emulsions.
Waterborne polyurethanes(WPU) based on castor oil were successfully prepared using polycaprolactone diol(PCL), castor oil(CO) and 4,4'-methylene dicyclohexyl diisocyanate($H_{12}MDI$) as soft segment part, dimethylolbutanoic acid (DMBA) as emulsifier, and trimethylamine(TEA) as neutralizer based on different molecular weight of prepolymer. The various properties such as mechanical strength and surface reforming were evaluated using UTM, contact angle, FE-SEM based on the different molecular weight of polyol. Waterborne polyurethanes based on castor oil could be considered as a promising candidate to be applied the various adhesion fields.
In this study, solvent-free waterborne polyurethanes (SWPU) were synthesized with teramethylxylene diisocyanate (TMXDI), poly(tetramethylene glycol) (PTMG) and polycarprolactone (PCL) and different mole ratio of dimethylol proponicacid (DMPA). The effect of ionic contents in the solvent-free waterborn polyurethane on thermal, mechanical properties and adhesion strength were studied. Glass transition temperature (Tg) were in range of $-70{\sim}-50^{\circ}C$ and increased as PCL contents increased in polyol. With more incorporation of PCL and DMPA contents in SWPU, tensile strength, adhesion strength and heat resistance of SWPU increased, while the elongation decreased.
Waterborne polyurethane (WPU) which is environment friendly has been rapidly used in coating and adhesive industries. However, the WPU is deficient in chemical resistance, thermal resistance, and mechanical property compared to solvent-based polyurethane. In this study, the WPU was synthesized from two types of polyester polyols, 4,4-dicyclohexylmethane diisocyanate ($H_{12}MDI$), dimethylolpropionic acid (DMPA), triethylamine (TEA) and ethylenediamine (EDA), organophilic nanoclay. The thermal stability, mechanical property of the WPU nanocomposite dispersion increased with increasing clay concentration. Especially, their peel strength showed their maximum value at 3 wt% of organophilic nanoclay contents.

Production of eco-friendly and biologically harmless materials is strongly required in all industries. In particular, reducing volatile organic compounds in coating processes is extremely important to secure worker's safety. During recent two decades, extensive research works on water-borne polyurethane dispersion (PUD) have been continuously developed as an alternative to solvent-borne polyurethane. However, PUD was shown inferior mechanical properties to the organic solvent-borne polyurethane due to a limit to the molecular weight increase, which resulted in the limit of applications. To overcome this drawback, several approaches have been examined such as polymer blends and thermal/radiation induced crosslinking. Among these methods, the radiation curing system was suitable for industrialization because of the high crosslinking density and fast curing speed. In this study, we overcame the drawback for PUD via introducing benzophenone radiation curable units to PUD. We synthesized PUD films which possessed good dispersion in water for 30 days, increased Tg and Td more than $5^{\circ}C$ after UV curing film as well as improved young's modulus more than double.

The polyurethane resin used for the garment skin leather surface coating was synthesized by varying the content of polyethylene glycol (PEG) in [NCO] / [OH] mole % ratio. The mechanical properties of the synthesized polyurethane resin were analyzed by SEM, FT-IR, UTM. As the [NCO] / [OH] mole % ratio of nonionic poly ethylene glycol (PEG) increased, there was no change in flexural resistance (dry, wet) and abrasion resistance and tensile strength measurement value were lowered. In contrast, the elongation property values were increased. The result of viscosity measurement showed that the viscosity became thinner with increasing [NCO] / [OH] mole % of PEG.

In this study, analyzed of changes resulting from the spread of carbon black in casein grafted water dispersed polyurethane using PPG. For this purpose, casein-grafted water-dispersed polyurethane and (PUD and CPUD's) samples were prepared and samples of CPCB's dispersed with carbon black were prepared. As a result of measuring the tensile strength using prepared samples, the tensile strength was increased to $3.01kgf/mm^2$ with CPUD3, which contains highly casein, in CPCB's tensile strength was measured as low as $2.54kgf/mm^2$ with increasing carbon black. Elongation was measured in 278% of PUD samples containing less casein, and CP3CB4 in CPCB's was measured as 157%. The abrasion resistance of the samples was 36.97 mg.loss for CPUD3 and 41.11 mg.loss for CP3CB4. The solvent resistance of the PUD 's sample and the CPCB' s sample were not changed.
