An Analysis of Urban Spatial Cycles Considering Wide Area City Plan in Seoul Metropolitan Area (광역도시계획을 고려한 수도권 도시 성장주기 분석)

  • This study reveals a change in the growth cycle of metropolitan with analyzing the population of Seoul metropolitan area and identifies the characteristics of each urban area. For this, the exponential growth of the city, Roxy index, which in recent years been actively studied in Japan, has applied. As a result, the entire metropolitan area and central areas, and the southern region are about to move to the accelerating centralization phase. In the phase of suburbanization are highly likely to turn into the new phase of regression phase. In addition, the northern and eastern suburbs are currently in progress with the accelerating decentralization phase and are expected to be converted in the decelerating decentralization phase. Through this implication in Seoul metropolitan area, it is necessary to carry out the policy responses about regional maintenance by connecting to the changes in direction and speed of cycle phase of city. The results of this study can be used as basic data to determine the long-term future growth and decline of the metropolitan area.

Analysis on the Inter-Industry Network between the Service Industry in the Korean Capital Region and 10 Industrial Sectors in 20 City-Regions of China-Japan-Korea (한국 수도권 서비스업과 한·중·일 20개 도시지역 내 10개 산업부문과의 산업 간 네트워크 분석)

  • Considering the intensified ties between Korean service industry and the other industries in China and Japan, this study empirically analyzes the inter-industry network between the service industry in the Korean capital region and 10 industrial sectors in 20 city-regions of China, Japan, and Korea(CJK). Firstly, unit structures are constructed based on the estimated CJK interregional input-output tables to understand the production connection. Moreover, the reorganized unit structures are visualized as networks and examined from various angles. As the results of the analysis, the inter-industry network of the service industry in the Seoul Metropolitan Area is still mostly dependent on domestic industries, especially on manufacturing industry, while it shows the tendency to be weakly connected to the industries in Chinese and Japanese city-regions.

  • 수도권을 중심으로 근교농업으로 발달한 낙농업이 점차 지역의 도시화 됨에 따라 경기도 축산 농가들의 환경을 더욱 어렵게 하고 있다. 특히나 수도권 지역의 낙농가들은 도시화로 인해 후보목장부지 물색에 실패하거나 후계자를 세우지 못한 목장 등이 농장폐업에 나서면서 2006년부터 2009년까지 매년 600여 농가가 자신의 쿼터를 매각하고 목장을 정리했다. 이러한 상황 속에서도 낙농업을 3대째 이어오면 기업승계로 고군분투하고 있는 목장이 있다.

The Spatial Pattern of Freight Flows of Automobile in the Capital Region, Korea (수도권지역 자동차 화물유동의 공간적 패턴)

  • This study is an attempt to grasp the spatial patterns and characteristics in the freight flows based on freight quantity data in 1997. The spatial background for the study is the Capital Region, which plays an important role in regional economics and industrial development. The methodology in the research used factor analysis to produce a functional region. The study selected three categories of freight that account for more than 60 percent of freight flows, chemical industrial goods, light industrial goods, and metal machinery industrial goods. The target analysis unit is divided into 36 zones. The common characteristic of the three categories is that they are concentrated at one specific region than are dispersed regionally. And in particular, the remarkable feature is that the central region of the study is Seoul. Usually the eminent regions of nows were made where environment of distribution facilities is good but these were made in a less than good environment. I think a reason is that facilities were uneven distribution.

  • This paper investigates the current situation of the Gyeonggi border region, which demonstrates the distorted political and economic realities of Korea, in order to gain the basic information that enables the comprehensive understanding of the Gyeonggi border region. This study has found that the 'Law for Protection of Military Facilities' has limited residents' life and economic activities in the region. And, the 'Law for Planning of the Capital Region' has also became another barrier to development of the region. Finally, the analysis of the region's economic condition showed that these regulations have made the Gyeonggi border region a backward periphery.

  • The essential Policy for solving the problems of the Seoul Metropolitan Region is the relocation of national pivotal functions into the non-Capital Region. The decentralization of pivotal functions should be pursued at the national level. National public institutions should be moved according to the characteristics of the institution itself and the regional function and specialization. Primarily, after selecting target institutions from the administrations at the vice-ministerial level, affiliated organizations, government-funded agencies, and institutions invested tv governments, we need to develop various measures to diminish the problems and obstacles resulted from the relocation of public sector. The construction of the new administration capital city is one of the alternatives which solve the problems of the Seoul Metropolitan Region and improve the regional inequality. It is very much important that the Korean citizens agree to the construction of the new administration capital city.

  • 한전계통의 구조는 원거리 발전단에서 부하 밀집지역인 수도권 지역으로의 장거리 송전을 하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 765kV 송전선로 신가평-신태백 2회선 상정사고에 대하여 수도권 및 인근지역에 대한 순동 무효전력을 확보함으로써 계통 전압을 0.96 p.u - 1.03 p.u 사이로 전압안정도를 유지할 방안과 순동 무효전력 투입위치와 투입량 산정방안에 대하여 모의 연구하였다.

A Study on the Land Demand and Supply System in the Capital Region of Korea (수도권 토지수요와 공급체계 분석 연구)

  • The demand of urban land in the Capital Region will be increased by the national economic growth of Korea. However, the available land for residential, commercial, and industrial should be limited in Capital Region, and the system of land supply for the urban land doesn't work effectively in the Capital Region. This research aims to forecast land demand in Capital Region based on the analysis of number of residents as well as housing units, and to suggest desirable land supply directions based on the analysis of land supply regulations and controls. This research concludes that it is demanded $293km^2$ of residential site for the construction of 1.27 million housing units by the year of 2010, and the change of land use from agricultural to residential is very restricted so that it may not supply urban land flexibly and appropriately. Thus, it is necessary to improve not only the system of land use controls but also cooperation among public agencies for the rational operation of land supply system.
