The Study on Material Characteristics of the By-Products of the Production of Bronze during the Goryeo Dynasty Excavated from the Sinpung Site, Wanju, Jeollabuk-do, South Korea (완주 신풍유적 출토 고려시대 청동생산 부산물의 재료학적 특성)

  • This study interpreted the characteristics of the site and provenance of raw material by performing material characteristics analysis of the slags and tuyeres excavated from the Sinpung site in Wanju, Jeollabuk-do. The major chemical compositions suggested that the slags and tuyeres were created when Cu-Sn-Pb was alloyed. Metal microscope and scanning electron microscopy-energy dispersive spectrometer analyses revealed that the slags and tuyeres were by-products formed in the alloying process. This alloy, created by adding galena to copper and tin ingots, was an intermediary material used in making the finished products. According to the lead isotope ratio analysis result, slags could be made using galena of the southern Zone III region of Korea. Based on the decomposition of mica group minerals and the formation of mullite detected through X-ray diffraction analysis, it is possible to conclude that the tuyeres operated at approximately 1,000℃ as, the mullite was detected on the outside of the tuyeres.

  • Iron was one of the most influential factors for formation and development of ancient countries. The diffusion of ironware had increased agricultural productivity and brought about military technical revolution. Needless to say, the rise and fall of the countries depended on the possession of stable iron production. Raw materials and fuels are the key factors for mass production of iron and a transportation route is essential to supply the goods. Jungwon area satisfies the three factors. There are many iron manufacture sites such as Jincheon Seokjang-ri Gusan-ri, and Chunju Chilgeum-dong Tangeumdae earthen ramparts in the Jungwon area. In order to study the ancient iron manufacture technique, reconstitution experiment was carried out using restored furnace which was made based on the Jincheon Seokjang-ri B-23 furnace. Some notable results were identified with the experiment as in the followings. Firstly, a roasting process has a connection with the decrease of hardness of the iron ore. Secondly, melting of the blast pipe as well as the formation of product within the furnace had a crucial effect on the cessation of the experiment. Thirdly, reduced iron in various locations within the furnace prove that there was enough reducing environment during the working. Not only melting point but also properties of iron can vary depending on the carbon contents. For the reason, formation of approximate environment in which iron can react to the chalcoal is the most important factor in terms of iron manufacture.

  • Aerodynamic optimization of an automotive air-conditioning blower is a hard task because of the highly complex flow phenomena related to three-dimensional flow separations and the unsteady nature caused by the interaction between primary and secondary air flows throughout the fan. In this paper, an aerodynamic study on a forward-curved centrifugal fan has been carried out Firstly we obtained the fan performance curves versus flow rates showing its unstable nature in the surging operation range. Secondly aerodynamic characterizations were carried out by investigating the velocity and pressure fields in the casing flow passage using a 5-hole pilot probe, at different operating conditions. Surface flow pattern near the cut-off area exhibits similar flow behavior above the best efficiency operating point, although the pressure level increases substantially with the Increase of flow rate. Vorticity in the casing passage flow occurs in all (low rates, downstream from the r-Z plane $\theta$=120 deg., where the position of its core changes with the circumferential location. Although complex, the general flow behavior were common, giving insight in its main aerodynamic features.

  • 상온통풍(常溫通風)을 이용(利用)한 In-bin drying에 대(對)한 많은 실험결과(實驗結果)에 의(依)하면 우리나라 10월(月)의 기상조건(氣象條件)은 저온건조(低溫乾燥) system에 적합(適合)한 건조능력(乾燥能力)을 가지고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 최근(最近) Computer를 이용(利用)한 Simulation model이 개발(開發)되어 건조현상(乾操現象)에 관(關)한 경제적(經濟的)이고 효율적(效率的)인 분석(分析)이 가능(可能)하게 되었다. 이러한 분석결과(分析結果)에 의(依)하면 초기함수율(初期含水率)이 높은 벼를 Full-bin을 이용(利用)한 상온통풍건조(常溫通風乾操)를 할 경우(境遇) 건조기간(乾燥期間)이 길어지며 bin내(內)의 상층부(上層部) 곡물(穀物)이 변질(變質)되는 문제점(問題點)이 발생(發生)하였다. 또한 벼의 수확작업체계(收穫作業體系)가 관행(慣行) 및 Binder작업체계(作業體系)에서 점차(漸次) Combine작업체계(作業體系)로 전환(轉換)되어감에 따라 포장(圃場)에서의 건조(乾燥)가 어려우며 예취(刈取), 탈곡작업과정(脫穀作業過程)에서의 기계적(機械的)인 곡물(穀物) 손실(損失)을 줄이기 위(爲)하여 함수율(含水率)이 비교적(比較的) 높은 벼를 수확(收穫)하여야 한다. 본(本) 연구(硏究)의 목적(目的)은 상온통풍건조(常溫通風乾燥)에 있어서 건조능력(乾燥能力)을 증가(增加)시키기 위(爲)하여 곡물(穀物)을 일정기간(一定期間) 나누어서 bin에 넣고 건조(乾燥)를 하는 Layer drying의 Simulation model을 개발(開發)하고 이 Model에 수원지방(水原地方)의 7년간(年間) 평균(平均) 기상자료(氣象資料)를 입력(入力)시켜 곡물(穀物)의 초기함수율(初期含水率), 투입량(投入量), 투입기간(投入期間)의 변화(變化)에 따른 Layer drying현상(現象)을 규명(糾明)하는데 있다. Simulation에 사용(使用)된 bin의 크기는 직경(直徑) 2m, 깊이 1.5m이며 송풍(送風)팬의 용량(容量)은 0.5HP이었다. Simulation분석(分析) 결과(結果)를 요약(要約)하면 다음과 같다. (1) Layer drying의 Simulation model을 개발(開發)하였으며 이 Model은 벼의 상온통풍건조(常溫通風乾燥) 실험(實驗)에서 함수량(含水量) 변화(變化)의 이론치(理論値)와 실제실험치(實際實驗値)가 잘 일치(一致)하였다. (2) 곡물투입기간(穀物投入期間) 1일(日)을 Full-bin drying으로 간주(看做)할 때 Layer drying의 건조성능(乾燥性能)은 Full-bin보다 높은 것으로 나타났다. (3) 연속송풍(連續送風)(24시간(時間))을 할 경우(境遇) 곡물투입기간(穀物投入期間)이 증가(增加)함에 따라 건조기간(乾燥期間)의 감소경향(減少傾向)은 단속송풍(斷續送風)인 경우(境遇)보다 적었지만 건조기간(乾燥期間)은 단축(短縮)되었다. 그러나 건조(乾燥)에너지의 소모(消耗)는 단속송풍(斷續送風)일 때보다 크게 나타났다. (4) 단속송풍(斷續送風)(9 : 00AM~6 : 00PM)일 경우(境遇) 곡물투입기간(穀物投入期間)을 증가(增加)시키면 건조기간(乾燥期間)이 크게 줄어 들었다. (5) 곡물(穀物)의 초기함수율(初期含水率)이 21% 이하(以下)일 경우(境遇) 연속(連續) 및 단속송풍(斷續送風)에서 건조기간(乾燥期間)의 차이(差異)가 별로 없었다. (6) 곡물(穀物)의 초기함수율(初期含水率)이 높으면 Full-bin drying에서는 상부층(上部層)에 곡물(穀物)이 변질(變質)될 우려(憂慮)가 있으나 Layer drying에서는 곡물투입량(穀物投入量)을 조절(調節)하면 이것을 방지(防止)할 수 있었다. (7) 건조(乾燥)가 완료(完了)된 후(後) 층별(層別) 최종곡물(最終穀物) 함수율(含水率)은 모든 건조조건(乾燥條件)에서 동일(同一)하였으나 bin의 하부층(下部層)은 과건조(過乾燥) 물상(物象)을 일으켰다.

Study on the Characteristics of Far Infrared Ray Drying for Rough Rice(I) (벼의 원적외선 건조특성에 관한 연구(I))

  • 본 연구에서는 원적외선.열풍 복합건조특성을 구명하기 위하여 건조용량 150-500kg이고, 승강기, 상.하부스크류, 건조실, 템퍼링실, 송풍기 및 가열장치로 구성된 시뮬레이터를 제작하여 건조특성시험을 실시하였다. 그 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 가. 열풍온도에 따른 곡온변화를 시험한 결과 열풍온도 45$^{\circ}C$일 때 곡온 32-33$^{\circ}C$를 유지하였으며, 48, 51$^{\circ}C$일 때는 곡온이 35$^{\circ}C$가 넘어서는 현상을 나타났다. 건조중 곡온이 35$^{\circ}C$를 넘어서게 되면 동할미 발생량이 많아지고 품질저하가 급격히 일어난다. 나. 템퍼링실의 온도편차가 2,5$^{\circ}C$ 정도로 고른 온도분포를 나타내었고, 버너 입구쪽과 템퍼링실 중앙지점에서 온도가 약간 높게 나타났으며, 원적외선방사체 표면온도분포는 열풍온도가 45$^{\circ}C$일 때 평균 17$0^{\circ}C$를 유지하였고, 48$^{\circ}C$, 51$^{\circ}C$일 때 각각 22$0^{\circ}C$, 23$0^{\circ}C$에서 유지하는 것으로 나타났다. 다. 원적외선방사체 길이방향으로 온도편차는 버너를 기준으로 해서 버너쪽에서 멀수록 온도가 높았고, 중간, 근거리 순으로 나타났다. 버너의 원거리쪽에서 온도가 높게 나타난 것은 원적외선방사체를 통과하는 열풍이 빠져나가도록 되어있는 열풍 유동관이 버너 원거리에 위치하고 있어 버너에 불꽃이 점화되면서 열풍이 방사체 끝쪽으로 일시 머물렀다가 배출되기 때문으로 판단된다. 라. 건조기의 송풍량을 요인으로 하여 건조속도와 건조에너지를 비교한 결과 송풍량이 30cmm일 때가 25cmm에서보다 약 33%의 건조속도가 증가되어 송풍량이 많을수록 건조속도가 빨라졌으나, 건조에너지는 1,391kcal/kg.water로 나타나 약 4.2%정도가 더 소요 되었다. 곡물순환속도를 요인으로 하여 비교 시험한 결과 곡물순환속도가 33kg/min일때가 26kg/min보다 약 25%의 건조속도가 증가되어 곡물의 순환속도가 빠를수록 건조속도가 빨라졌으며, 건조에너지도 1,334kcal/kg.water로 비슷하게 소요되었다. 마. 시험구와 대비구의 건감률은 시험구에서 1.08~1.36w.b./h로 나타나 대비구보다 약 9.9~18.3%가 높게 나타났고, 건조에너지는 10.2~14.6%가 절감되었다. 발아율은 열풍온도가 낮을수록 높게 나타났고 시험구가 대비구보다 발아율이 낮게 나타났으며, 동할률 증가량도 원적외선.열풍 복합건조방법이 높게 나타나 이것은 곡물 표면에 원적외선 방사에의한 복사열이 전달되어 열장해를 받았기 때문으로 판단되며, 금후 더 연구하여 적정 열풍온도 및 방사체 크기를 구명해야 할 것이다.

An experimental archaeological study on the Baekjae iron smelting furnace and its production process (백제 제철로 및 제철기술의 복원을 위한 실험 고고학적 연구)

  • A Jincheon Seokjangri B23 furnace was reconstructed and iron smelting experiment was performed to investigate an ancient Baekjae iron production process. The work mainly described in this paper is the $1^{st}$ and $2^{nd}$ experiments among the several experiments carried out at Jungwon National Research Institute of Cultural Heritage. Iron ore(magnetite) and oak charcoal were used as a source and a foot bellow was used for air supply. Common results of the experiments are masses of iron, slag and charcoal formed in the furnace. Most iron lumps were formed nearby the tuyere rather than the area of tapping hole. Metallographic and chemical analysis shows that the iron lumps can be used for either forge or cast depending on their carbon content. Low Fe content and glassy texture of the inner slags suggest that the operation environment was quite reducing. Based on the results of the iron smelting experiments, measurements and analysis, various information was obtained regarding physical-chemical and metallurgical processes of the ancient iron smelting process. It is firmly believed that its undisclosed contents can be revealed more in depth with continual reconstitution experiments.

Prediction of Maximum Fly Ash Conveying Capacity of Fly Ash System in a Power Plant (발전 보일러용 비회 이송설비에서 최대 비회 이송량 예측)

  • This study presents prediction of maximum fly ash conveying capacity of fly ash system in a power plant. The mixture ratio and pressure drop characteristics of air-fly ash flow in piping system are not well understood due to the complexity of particle motion mechanism. In this paper, the researcher investigated the optimum mixture ratio when the pressure drop of fly ash conveying system is equal to maximum static pressure of displacement fly ash transport blower and the capacity of fly ash transport according to the optimum mixture ratio by experimenting the fly ash conveying system of domestic D coal thermal power plants, which is currently in operation. The experiment results showed that the maximum fly ash conveying capacity of fly ash system were founded under the condition of maximum air volume 5,040 m3/h, static pressure of trip condition 1,163 mmH2O. In addition, it was predicted maximum mixture ratio of the air-fly ash was 8.66 and maximum capacity of fly ash conveying was 52,600 kg/h under these conditions.

  • This purpose of this research is to build up a prototype of bean threshing machine after three dimensional design which can be driven independently by engine and hydraulic equipments and wheels. To accomplish the functionality of bean threshing machine the cutters are placed in a swirl type on a threshing drum the thresing capability would be improved. Also a exit pipe was designed to clear the remains to solve the past problems that the normal machines had. A fan was designed to blow to send the waste only to the outside. Only clean beans will be transferred through a blowing fan wind power to exit pipe and the system was designed to help the worker to collect the beans in front of the machine. This threshing machine using independent driving engine which can provide the power to drive the system and do the threshing is the first developed technology in domestic area through the University and Industry cooperation.

Study on Flow Deflection of Duct and Raw Coal Separation Screen (덕트 및 원탄 선별망 유동 편향에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, computational fluid dynamics was used to analyze the flow bias generated as air supplied by a fan passes through ducts, piping, and a coal separation screen. The flow bias of the air flow is mostly caused by the spatial characteristics of the fan volute and duct, and the internal baffle and the coal separation screen at the outlet cause strong pressure losses that dampen the flow bias. ANSYS CFX was used for computational fluid dynamics, and since the baffle and the coal separation screen are shaped like perforated plates with many small holes uniformly distributed, actual modeling for analysis was not possible. Therefore, the Porous Loss Model was applied. The evaluation of the flow bias was analyzed based on the velocity distribution of the Porous Loss Model at the outlet surface of the coal separation screen obtained from the computational fluid dynamics results.

  • 선박은 사람이나 화물을 수상(水上) 운송수단의 목적으로 오랜 옛날부터 사용하여 왔으며, 금세기에 이르러서는 오랜 옛날부터 사용하여 왔으며, 금세기에 이르러서는 인류문화의 급속한 발전에 따라 주변생활이 가속화(Speed화), 합리화되어 문명의 혜택을 보다 많이 누리게 된 반면에, 국제간에 파생되는 여러가지 교환현상을 바탕으로 지구는 하나의 촌(村)으로 되어 유통경제를 지배하고 이용하는 운송수단으로 발전되어 왔다. 물질문명이 급속히 발전하는 작금, 선용추진 주 기관의 동향을 살펴보면, 1981년 세계에서 건조한 2000톤급 이상의 선박은 940여척으로 이중 13척이 증기 Turbine. 추진(推進), 나머지는 미끄럼 저속 디이젤 또는 중고속 디이젤 추진으로 되어있다. 이와 병행하여 선박에 쓰여지고 있는 각종 윤활제는 주기관으로서 디이젤 engine, Trubine engine, 가솔린 engine, 석유, engine, 선외기, 왕복동 증기기관, Journal계열로서 역전기, 추력베어링, 중간 베어링, 프로펠러베어링, 일반상선으 보조기계로서 발전기, 공기압축기, Boiler, 각종 Pump, 각종 Motor, 냉동기, 조타장치, Side Thrust, 갑판기계, 환기용 송풍기 및 통풍통, Oil 청정기, 수밀로(水蜜爐), 소화설비, 주기 개방용 천정 크레인, elevator, 어선으로서의 주 기관, 보조기기 등에 쓰여지고 있으며 이밖에 수중날개선 등에도 적용되는 등 실로 다양다종한 윤활제가 요구되고 있음에, 본 논고에서는 제목 건을 중심으로 한 선박과 윤활의 중요 Point만을 간추려 기술하고져 한다.
