Dual-Tunneling Mechanism for Supporting Host Mobility between Heterogeneous Access Networks (이종 접속 망간의 단말 이동성 지원을 위한 이원적 터널 기법)

  • The Mobile IPv6(MIPv6) has a well-known time gap of packet loss between link down and binding update. To minimize such packet loss, this paper proposes a MIPv6-based dual tunneling mechanism, which keeps exploiting the old tunnel while creating a new tunnel. Superiority of the proposed mechanism is evaluated by quantitative analysis on the lost packets and computer simulation, based on two overlay heterogeneous access networks, such as the UMTS and a WLAN.

  • Mobile IP를 사용하는 이동 단말은 새로운 망으로 이동할 때마다 Home Agent에 등록요구 메시지를 전달해야만 하는데 이는 많은 양의 시그널링 트래픽을 생성 시키고 IP의 특징으로 인하여 일정한 시간 내에 등록할 수 있다는 보장을 받기가 어렵다. 이런 문제를 해결하기 위해서 미시적 이동성 지원 프로토콜이 제안되어 패킷 손실을 최소화 하며 컨트롤 패킷 양을 줄여 네트워크의 대역폭을 효율적으로 활용 할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 Cellular IP에서 바이캐스팅 방법을 이용하는 세미소프트 핸드오프 방법을 개선하며 패킷손실과 중복 수신 패킷의 수를 극소화 시킬 수 있는 관리 기법과 핸드오프 지연을 최소화 하여 실시간 서비스를 제공받을 수 있는 방안을 제시한다.

  • 인터넷 기술의 발전에 따라 무선 인터넷 환경에서의 서비스 이용이 활발해지고 있으며, 향후 무선인터넷의 고속화 및 서비스 수용능력의 신장은 이를 보다 가속화시킨 것이다. 그러나, 무선랜에서 사용자가 서비스 사용 중 이동할 경우 핸드오프 수행은 멀티미디어 서비스 및 음성 서비스를 제공하는데 있어서 지연 또는 데이터 손실을 가져오는 주 요인이 되고 있다. 따라서, 본 논문에서는 무선랜에서 사용하는 기존 핸드오프 기법에 대해서 설명하고, Preauthentication과 데이터의 우선순위를 기반으로 핸드오프를 신속하게 수행하기 위한 기법을 제안함으로서, 향후 고속화된 무선인터넷 환경에서 사용자의 통신간 이동을 고려시 실시간 서비스 사용 중에 일어날 수 있는 데이터의 손실 또는 지연으로 인한 서비스 품질 저하를 효율적으로 방지해 보고자 한다.

Performance Improvements in Guard Channel Scheme by Resource Prediction for Wireless Cognitive Radio-Based Cellular Networks (무선 인지 셀룰러 망에서 자원예측에 의한 가드채널 할당기법의 성능개선)

  • In this paper, we propose a scheme for improving not only the utilization of frequency bands in the guard channel scheme but also the dropping rate of cognitive radio user in the wireless cognitive radio-based cellular network. The proposed scheme enables cognitive radio users to utilize the guard channel for servicing only handoff calls in normal times, but cognitive radio users must vacate the frequency channel when handoff call appearing. At this time our scheme ensures their seamless services for cognitive radio users, by predicting handoff call's appearance by MMOSPRED (Multi-Media One Step Prediction) method and then reserving the demanded channels for spectrum handoff calls. Our simulations show that our scheme performs better than other schemes; GCS(Guard Channel Scheme) and a scheme without prediction in terms of cognitive users call's dropping rate and resource utilization efficiency.

  • This paper proposes the improved handoff mechanism for IEEE 802.11 wireless LANs. When a wireless mobile node moves out of the coverage of its currently associated AP(Access Point) and needs to be re-associated with a new AP, a handoff procedure is initiated. Channel scanning process during a handoff procedure occupies over 90% of total handoff latency. Long latency leads to many packet losses and service discontinuity, which degrades wireless network performance. This paper describes about the new mechanism to improve handoff performance by skipping channel scanning during a handoff procedure. In oerder for that, acquires neighboring AP information such as its address, location, channel number in use, the number of associated nodes before handoff, and delivers the information to its associated mobile nodes. The mobile nodes can reduce handoff latency and perform more exact handoff using the delivered AP information. We have conducted simulations to analyze our proposal's performance and confirmed that handoff latency and the number of handoff occurrences are decreased.

  • In this paper, the new scheme using a Combined Cache(CC) that combing the Paging and Routing Cache(PRC) and an alternative handoff method according to the type of data transmission for achieving the efficient realtime communication. The PRC and quasi-soft handoff method reduce the path duplication. But they increase the network traffic load because of the handoff state packet of Mobile Host(MH). Moreover the use the same handoff method without differentiating the type of transmission data. Those problems are solved by operating U with a semi-soft handoff method for realtime data transmission and with a hard handoff method for non-realtime data transmission. As a result or simulation a better performance is obtained because of the reduction of the number of control packet in case that the number of cells are below 20. And the packet arrival time and loss of packet decreased significantly for realtime data transmission.

  • In this paper we analyze the performance of the low latency pre-registration handoff method of mobile IP by computer simulation. Packet losses and delays are evaluated in terms of system utilization. Foreign agents that participate in the handoff process can be modeled as queues representing input and output ports. Therefore, we propose an analytical model of pre-registration handoff by using open queueing network model. Simulation results are shown for validating analytical estimates.

  • When the Mobile IP is applied for mobility management protocol in the next-generation mobile communication networks, it can cause a serious performance degradation called micro-mobility problem. In this paper, we propose ANMM(Access Network Mobility Management) to efficiently support micro-mobility in the IP-based wireless access network. The ANMM scheme can reduce the handoff latency and signaling overhead resulting in performance enhancement by managing the mobility of mobile nodes within access network.

  • MS(Mobile Station)가 HSDPA(High Speed Downlink Packet Access)를 지원하는 W-CDMA(Wideband Code Division Multiple Access)망과 IEEE 802.16e를 지원하는 HPi(High Speed Portable Internet)망 사이를 이동할 때 발생하는 vertical 핸드오프 시 MS는 이전 경로 상에서 받지 못한 데이터를 새로운 경로로 넘겨받아 데이터가 순서대로 손실 없이 착신됨을 보장받아야 한다. 이것은 재전송의 오버헤드를 줄이는 이점이 있다. 또한 vertical 핸드오프 시 새로운 망에 MS가 재구성되어지는 과정이 포함되어야 한다. 이를 위해 본 논문에서는 vertical 핸드오프 시 이전 경로 상에서 받지 못한 데이터를 순서대로 넘겨받는 것과 새로운 망에 적용되는 MS 재구성에 관련된 프로토콜을 제안한다.

Multicast Schemes for DMSP Handoff in Mobile IP Networks (이동 IP 망에서의 DMSP 핸드오프를 위한 멀티캐스트 방안)

  • The packet loss problem that occurs in the mobile multicast (MoM) protocol due to designated multicast service provider(DMSP) handoff is investigated through simulation experiments for several DMSP selection policies. Then, two enhanced DMSP schemes are proposed to minimize the packet loss of the MoM protocol with single DMSP. The first scheme uses a backup DMSP and greatly reduces the packet loss rate at the expense of the increased network traffic. The second scheme utilizes the extended DMSP operation and shows many desirable features such as the almost zero packet loss rate and relatively low network traffic.
