Analysis on the PMD compensator's limitation from PDL in the optical communication system (광통신 시스템에서 PDL로 인한 PMD 보상 수준 한계에 대한 연구)

  • We analyze the effectiveness of the PMD compensation as a function of the link PDL, to acquire the guidelines for the successful deployment of PMDC. Result shows that the amount of BER improvement from the PMDC is decreased as the link PDL increases. Because PDL elements in the transmission system make well-defined two PSPs under the absence of PDL not orthogonal anymore, and proper definition of fast and slow polarization harder. Accordingly, consideration of PDL's potential effects must be needed for design of polarization mode dispersion compensation.sation.

  • In this paper, a novel speed control strategy using an acceleration feedforward compensation by the estimation of the system inertia is proposed. With the proposed method, the enhanced speed control performance can be achieved and the speed response against the disturbance torque can be improved for the vector-controled induction motor drive systems in which the bandwidth of the speed controller cannot be made large enough. The simulation and experimental results for induction motor drive systems confirm the validity of the proposed strategy.

  • This paper propose a variable proportional resonant feedforward algorithm for reducing the speed ripple of a three-phase permanent magnet synchronous motor. In general, the torque ripples can be generated by electrical pulsation due to current measurement errors and dead time and mechanical pulsation because of rotor eccentricity and eccentric load. These torque pulsations can cause speed pulsations of the motor and degrade the operating performance of the motor drive system. Therefore, in this paper, the factors of the speed ripple is analyzed and an algorithm to reduce the speed ripple is proposed. The proposed algorithm applied a variable proportional resonant controller in order to reduce the specific operating frequency included in the speed pulsation, and utilized a feedforward compensation controller structure to perform the compensation operation. The proposed algorithm is verified through various experiments.

  • In this paper, we present the degradation of focusing induced by velocity inhomogeneity in human tissue. For simulation, the fatty layer which is the major factor of degradation for its lower velocity, is modeled as a uniform velocity perturbation layer. And we simulate the degradation of resolution resulting from change of beam path due to refraction and the time delay due to velocity difference. We show that focusing error can be compensated for considering the velocity inhomogeneity only. The proposed compensation method can be operated in real time in the presently used digital focusing systems.

  • To prove the vibration and speed error problems caused by the nonlinear friction characteristics and load variation of the hydraulic system, a PID speed controller and a load compensation controller for the hydraulic inverter-fed elevator are proposed. The load compensation controller is composed by the PI controller and the speed controller is composed by the PID controller. The P,I and D gains of the control parameters are obtained by the frequency response of system transfer function. The Effectiveness of the proposed controller are shown by experimental results, which the proposed controller yields robustness with load variations and stable and good speed and acceleration responses with less oscillations.

  • 본 논문에서는 유ㆍ무선 통신 채널을 통한 데이터 전송시 발생하는 비선형 왜곡을 적응 필터를 이용하여 보상하였다. 특히 통신채널에서는 심볼간 간섭(ISI)이 발생하는데 이러한 간섭을 비선형 필터를 이용하여 제거하였다. 비선형 채널을 모델링하는 방법에는 볼테라급수를 이용하는 방법과 쌍선형 방법이 있다. 쌍선형 방법은 볼테라 방법에 비하여 계산량이 적은 장점을 지니고 있다. 따라서 쌍선형 필터에 적응 알고리듬을 적용하여 신호의 왜곡을 보상하였다. 적응 알고리듬에는 LMS 계열과 LS 계열 알고리듬이 있으나 통신 채널에서는 알고리듬의 안정도가 중요하므로 LMS 계열 알고리듬을 적용하였다. 또한 적응 알고리듬은 입력 데이터의 상관성과 데이터 수에 의존하여 수렴속도와 안정도가 결정된다. 알고리듬의 수렴속도를 증가시키기 위하여 입력신호를 신호파형으로부터 다량의 데이터를 검출하는 방법을 적용하였다. 이러한 방법을 입증하기 위하여 입력신호는 2진 랜덤 가우시안 데이터를 이용하였고, 통신채널에서 채널간 간섭을 발생시켰으며 화이트 가우시안 잡음을 부가 시켰다. 이러한 신호를 수신한 수신기에 적응 등화기를 설계하여 대량의 데이터를 생성시키고, 적응 알고리듬을 적용하여 채널의 왜곡을 빠른 속도로 보상하였다.

  • In the case of a small UUV operating an active synthetic aperture sonar, various velocity disturbances may occur on the path due to the influence of external underwater environment, and this causes phase errors in coherent synthetic aperture processing, which has a large influence on the detected image. In this paper, when a periodic sinusoidal velocity disturbance is generated in the traveling direction, the phase generated by the round trip slope range at each position is estimated the cross correlation coefficient for multiple received signals and compensated the position variation in the overlapped DPC by the average value within the maximum allowable width. Through simulations, it has been confirmed that the images degraded by the velocity disturbance amplitude and fluctuating frequency of the UUV are removed from the false targets and the performance of azimuth resolution is improved by the proposed phase compensation method.

  • 본 논문에서는 제한 지속시간 모델링(bounded duration modeling)의 지속시간 제한 값(duration bound)을 화자의 발음 속도에 따라 조절해주는 발음 속도 보상 알고리즘을 제안한다. 제안된 알고리즘은 두 번의 인식 과정을 수행하는데, 1차 인식 과정은 화자의 발음 속도를 추정하기 위한 과정이고, 2차 인식 과정이 인식 결과를 얻기 위한 과정이다. 1차 인식 과정에서 추정된 화자의 발음 속도에 따라, 지속시간 제한 값을 증가, 또는 감소시킨 후, 2차 인식과정에 사용한다. 제안된 알고리즘은 CHMM 기반의 한국어 연결 숫자음 인식 시스템에 적용되었으며, KAIST에서 제작된 4-7자리 연결 숫자음 데이터베이스인 DigitDB를 대상으로 성능을 평가하였다. 인식 실험 결과, 제안된 발음 속도 보상 알고리즘이 적용된 인식 시스템에서는 $96.26\% 단어 인식률을 얻어, 제안된 알고리즘이 적용되지 않은 인식 시스템의 $94.72\%보다 $1.54\% 향상된 인식 성능을 얻을 수 있었다.

  • In GPS(Global Positioning System)/INS(Inertial Navigation System) integrated navigation systems, GPS antennas and an inertial measurement units are usually installed outside and inside of the vehicle, respectively. By the difference of installed locations, performance of GPS/INS integrated navigation systems is affected by lever arm errors. For more accurate navigation, lever arm errors need to be compensated correctly since it directly affects the accuracy of navigation states. This paper proposes an effective lever arm error compensation method that utilizes velocity measurements of GPS and INS. By an experiment, feasibility of the proposed algorithm is verified. It is also shown that lever arm compensation is especially important when vehicles are experiencing rotational movements.
