Elevation of Specific IgE Antibody in Clonorchis sinensis infection (간흡충종 환자의 혈청내 IgE 열 간흡충 특이 IgE 항체의 상승)

  • 21명의 간흡충 감염환자 및 15명의 건강인으로부터 혈청을 수집하여 혈청내 IgE와 간흡충에 대한 특이 IgE 항체를 RIST와 RAST법을 이용하여 측정하였다. 간흡충 감염환자 및 건강인의 혈청 IgE와 특이 IgE는 각각 2,372 lU/ml과 364IU/ml 그리고 52.0%와 4.4%로 간흡충 감염자에서 모두 유의하게 상승되어 있었으며 (p<0.001 및 p<0.01), 혈청 IgE의 상승과 특이 IgE의 상승은 상호 밀접한 관계가 있었고(r=0.9451), 혈청 IgE와 EPG(r=0.6056), 특이 IgE와 EPG(r=0.5693) 역시 상관 관계가 있었다. 이상의 결과로 보아 간흡충 감염은 인체 혈청내 IgE 및 특이 IgE항체를 상승시키며, IgE 및 간흡충에 대한 특이 IgK는 숙주-기생충간의 면역반응에 관여할 것으로 생각된다.

Analysis of the Organic Matter Content for Soil Samples Taken at the New Points of Korea Soil Quality Monitoring Network (토양측정망 확대 지점의 토양 유기물 함량 연구)

  • Soil organic matter (SOM) is an important soil component releasing nutrients to the plants and reducing risks of soil contamination to the human and ecosystem. Much attention has been recently paid to SOM investigation and management because SOM holds the most of carbon in the earth and sequestrate carbon as a sink tank. The first objective of the study was to investigate SOM of 495 soil samples taken at the Korea Soil Quality Monitoring Network. Soil samples were collected from 16 regions and 8 land use types. The second objective of the study was to find a relationship between the Tyurin method and loss-on-ignition (LOI) method for SOM. The means of SOM by Tyurin and LOI methods were 1.90 and 2.92 % (w/w), respectively. Land uses such as forest, religious area and park where organic matters continuously supply to normally showed higher SOMs than residential and school areas having sandy soils. A regression equation of the relationship between Tyurin and LOI methods was y(Tyurin) = 0.6257x(LOI) + 0.0602 (P-value < 0.001). The coefficient of determination was $R^2=0.749$, relatively linearly related. Although LOI may result in higher SOMs than the Tyurin method, LOI may be a preference for the SOM investigation if various kinds of land uses and many soil samples should be measured.

Phenolic contents and physiological properties of Pleurotus ostreatus by drying method and 30% fermented ethanol extraction for different periods (느타리버섯류의 자실체 건조 방법 및 주정 추출 기간별 페놀성 성분 함량 및 생리활성 효능 비교)

  • The total polyphenol and physiological activities of Pleurotus ostreatus 30% fermented ethanol using different drying methods and extraction periods were investigated. Based on the observed polyphenol content and physiological activity, freeze-drying showed better results than hot air-drying method for P. ostreatus extracted with 30% fermented ethanol for more than 15 days. The total phenolic compound content of 'Gosol' following thefreeze-drying method for 15 days showed the highest value of $0.49{\pm}0.02mg/mL$. Freeze-drying with extraction for 30 days for ASI 2344 showed the highest antioxidant activity based on the DPPH radical scavenging rate of $35.50{\pm}3.29%$. Freeze-drying 'Gosol' for 30 days resulted inthe highest anti-inflammatory and nitrite scavenging activity of $48.40{\pm}3.38%$. Our results showed that P. ostreatus is a functional food.

  • Both Vapor-liquid equilibrium data and boiling temperature have been measured for ternary and each corresponding binaries of n.dodecane-1.decanol-1.dodecanol mixture under constant pressure of 15 mbar. Measured vapor-liquid equilibrium data were correlated with the conventional g$\^$E/ model ; Margules, van Laar, Wilson, NRTL and UNIQUAC equations. Binary equilibrium data were thermodynamically tested by Redlich-Kister integral method and ternary data were also qualitatively checked by two point consistency test, suggested by McDermott-Ellis. Among the binary VLE data, only the system n.dodecane-1.decanol has minimum boiling azeotrope.

  • The interfacial accumulation of the chromium-cupferron complex and the catalytic wave of its redox process is characterized by cyclic voltammetry. One cathodic peak is observed in the forward scan at -1.45 V. Scanning in the reverse direction produces a inverted peak at -1.39 V, which is indicative of a catalytic process. The optimal conditions of inverted peak were found to be 1 mM borate buffer solution(pH 9.48) containing $1{\times}10^{-4}M$ cupferron, holding potential of -1.8 V and scan rate of 20 mV/s. Using main peak, a preconcentration time of 1 min results in a detection limit of $3.2{\times}10^{-10}M$.

  • Isothermal vapor-Liquid equilibrium data have been measured for binary systems MTBE-methanol, MTBE-n-heptane, and methanol-n-heptane at $45^{\circ}C$ and $65^{\circ}C$ by using head space gas chromato-graphy (H.S.G.C). Among these systems a minimum azeotrope was observed in both of MTBE-methanol system and n-heptane-methanol system. Particularly n-heptane-methanol system has a heterogeneous minimum azotrope since it has an immisible region. These equilibrium data were correlated with the excess Gibbs energy model, and the thermodynamic consistency test was also carried out by using Redlich-Kister equation.

A Comparison Study on the Separation Process of TaCl5 from the Chlorinated Reaction Product (염화반응법으로 제조된 TaCl5의 분리공정에 관한 비교 연구)

  • The separation and purification of $TaCl_5$is indispensable in the synthetic process of $TaCl_5$by chlorination of tantalum oxide. The reaction products are mainly $TaCl_5$, $NbCl_5$, $TiCl_4$ and $FeCl_2$. However, we need to separate $TaCl_5/NbCl_5$ mixture from the reaction product, because $TaCl_5$ and $NbCl_5$ are easily separated each other by distillation or hydrogen reduction process. In this work, a comparison study was carried out between direct sequence and indirect sequence to obtain $TaCl_5/NbCl_5$ mixture from the reaction product by removing light component, $TiCl_4$ and heavy component, $FeCl_2$ using two distillation columns. It was concluded that the direct sequence gave better results than indirect sequence in the aspect of initial capital costs and the associative operating costs.

Evaluation of Fracture Toughness Using Small Punch Test for Aluminum 6061-T6 Type-3 Cylinder Liner (소형펀치시험법을 이용한 알루미늄 6061-T6 Type-3 용기 라이너의 파괴인성 평가)

  • Type-3 cylinder liner has a limitation of machining the standard specimen for fracture toughness test because it has approximately 5 mm in thickness as well as a curvature. Hence, it needs to be employed a miniature specimen test technique to evaluate fracture toughness of the cylinder liner. In this study, small punch (SP) test method was employed to evaluate fracture toughness of the cylinder liner. Load-displacement curve result measured from the SP test showed that the liner material was failed during membrane stretching in the general SP load-displacement curve. Additionally, it was shown that liner material was isotropic although the amount of plastic deformation was different depending on the direction due to manufacturing process characteristics. Fracture toughness, $J_{Ic}$, was evaluated using the SP test data. The value of fracture toughness obtained was $13.0kJ/m^2$. This value was similar to that of the same kind of materials. Therefore, the fracture toughness evaluated using the SP test data was reasonable.

Evaluation of the Seismic Safely of Concrete Gravity Dams (콘크리트 중력식 댐의 내진 안전성 평가)

  • Recently, the seismic safety evaluation of concrete gravity dams is raised due to the damage or the failure of dams occurred by the 1995 Kobe earthquake, the 1999 Taiwan earthquake, etc. Failre of dam may incur loss of life and properties around the dam as well as damage to dam structure itself. Recently, there has been growing much concerns about 'earthquake-resistance' or 'seismic safety'of existing concrete gravity dams designed before current seismic design provisions were implemented. This research develops three evaluation levels for seismic safety of concrete gravity dams on the basis of the evaluation method of seismic safety of concrete gravity dams in U.S.A., Japan, Canada, and etc. level 1 is a preliminary evaluation which is for purpose f screening. Level 2 is a pseudo-static evaluation on the basis of the seismic intensity method. Finally, level 3 is a detail evaluation by the dynamic analysis. Evaluation results on existing concrete gravity dam on operation showed good seismic performance under the designed artificial earthquake.

  • Among the various audiometric test batteries, pure tone and speech audiometry was carried as routine. During the past 20 years, there have been works on speech word list for Korean language. As a preliminary work for standardization of Korean speech word list, the authors are intended to study on the factors of test methods with these proposal speech word lists. Now, authors has studied as followings methods and materials and the results were obtained as followings. A. Materials and Methods a. Word List 1. Paik Chun Kee (Paik) 2. Soh Jin Myoung (Soh) 3. Cynn Kyu Shik (Cynn) 4. Lee Jong Dam (Lee) 5. Hahm Tae Young (Hahm) b. Test Method 1. ascending 2. descending c. Test Material 1. live voice 2. Recorded male voice 3. Recorded female voice B. Results 1. Score of ascending method was better result than descending method. 2. Speech reception threshold and discrimination score were better in recorded female voice, live voice and recorded male voice in that order. 3. Speech reception thresholds among tested word lists were Hahm, Lee, Soh, Cynn and Paik in that order. 4. Discrimination score was highest with Cynn and Lee, Soh, Hahm, Paik in that order.
