An Exploratory Study on the Hierarchical Model of Consumer Orientation

  • This study aims to stratify consumer market evaluation items from the Consumer Decision Journey(CDJ) perspective and understand the relationship between laws/systems and consumer orientation through the Korea Consumer Agency's '19 Korea Consumer Markets Evaluation Indicators. This study divided consumer market evaluation items into the selection comparison stage, selection decision stage, and post-purchase experience stage. And present a model that stratified the relationship with consumer orientation of laws/systems and verified using the CDJ model's experience as a control variable. Studies have shown that the relationship between the consumer market evaluation index that evaluates consumer orientation can be stratified according to the consumer decision-making stage and positively affects the relationship with consumer orientation of laws/systems. In addition, the impact of consumer market evaluation variables (reliability, and price) on the consumer orientation of laws/systems was different depending on the presence or absence of consumer damage experience.

Mutual Perceptions among Clients, Agencies, and Consumers on the Evaluation of Ad Creativity: Extending Application of the Co-Orientation Model (광고 창의성 평가에 대한 광고주, 광고 제작자, 소비자 간의 상호인식 연구: 상호지향성 모델의 확장 적용)

  • This study explored mutual perceptions among clients, agencies, and consumers on the evaluation of ad creativity applying the co-orientation model. In order to investigate agreement, congruence, accuracy among three groups, they exposed to real commercials as stimuli and evaluated ad creativity of them in terms of four dimensions, such as originality, appropriateness, clarity, and relevance. Results indicated that agreement between agencies and consumers is relatively high, whereas one between clients and agencies is relatively low. Also, clients show relatively higher level of congruence, but agencies have relatively lower level of one. Accuracy between agencies' evaluation of ad creativity and clients' perception of agencies' view on ad creativity, and between consumers' evaluation of ad creativity and clients' perception of consumers' view on ad creativity would be relatively high. On the other hand, accuracy between clients' evaluation of ad creativity and agencies' perception of clients' view on ad creativity would be relatively low. Results showed that there is a need clients and agencies to consider on consumers' viewpoints on ad creativity.

The Determinants of Switching On·Off-Line Channels for Consumers (소비자의 온·오프라인 채널이동 유형의 결정요인에 대한 연구)

  • This study illustrates factors that determine consumer types based on ways in which they alternate between online and offline channels for searching and eventually buying their desired products. This study conducted an online survey targeting 1,040 consumers. As per the study, consumer types fall into five groups: 1) on-on type(online search${\rightarrow}$online buying), 2) off-off type(offline search${\rightarrow}$offline buying), 3) on-off type(online search${\rightarrow}$offline buying), 4) off-on type(offline search${\rightarrow}$online buying), and, 5) on-off-on type(online search${\rightarrow}$ offline search${\rightarrow}$nline buying). The primary factors that determine how the different consumer types switch between online and offline channels are price orientation, convenience orientation,, risk-aversion orientation, and channel familiarity. Although they feel cross-channel shopping can be cumbersome, the findings show that cross-channel consumers would gladly switch channels to buy cheaper and proven products. The findings of this study will be useful for businesses that have both online and offline channels and point out the theoretical aspects of the decision-making process as consumers switch between channels.

Blue Jean Consumers' Brand Switching Behavior in Out-of-ostock Situation (품절 상황에서의 청바지 제품 소비자의 상표전환행동)

  • 본 연구는 청바지 제품 소비자가 쇼핑시 제품이 품절된 상황에 접했을 때 보여주는 상표 전환행동에 관한 것이다. 의류 매장 관리자의 적시 적량의 제품 입고 관리 능력이 부족할 때 발생하게 될 손실을 유추해 보고 어떤 유형의 소비자가 상표 전환을 쉽게 일으키느니를 규명하는 것은 더욱 효과적인 매장 운영 소비자 만족과 고객 관리를 위해 의미있는 일일 것이다. 본 연구는 다음과 같은 목적을 가진다. 1) 제품 품절시 소비자들은 어떤 상표전환 행동을 보이는지 밝힌다. 2) 제품 품절시 대체 상표제품을 구매할 경우 대체 상표 제품의 가격의 영향력이 상표전환 행동과 어떤 관련을 보이는지 밝힌다. 3) 소비자의 쇼핑지향성, 상표충성, 애고 행동, 인구통제적 특성(성별)이 상표전환 행동에 미치는 영향력을 밝힌다. 이러한 목적을 위해 본 연구는 1997년 3월 버지니아주 블랙스버그에 소재한 버지니아 주립대학교 110명의 학생들을 대상으로 설문조사를 이용한 양적연구를 실시하였다 남녀학생 모두가 소비자로서의 역할을 담당할 수 있는 청바지를 선택하여 상표전환 행동에 대한 설문에 답하게 한후 t-test 와 카이 분석을 실시하였다 그결과 20%의 응답자가 품절기 상표전환 행동을 보이는 것을 나타났다 쇼핑시간과 편의성을 덜 중요하게 여기거나 강한 상표 충성을 보이고 의류전문매장이나 백화점을 주로 이용하는 여성 소비자들의 경우 상표전환을 쉽게하지 않는 것으로 나타났다 연구결과를 바탕으로 의류제조업자 및 소매업자의 제품입고에 과한 제언을 하였다.

The Role of Implicit Theory of Beauty and Appearance Orientation on Consumers' Perceptions of Multi-Purpose Products (미(美)의 암묵적 이론과 외모지향성이 다목적 제품에 대한 소비자 인식에 미치는 영향)

  • Cosmetics brands are increasingly offering "multi-purpose" products that serve multiple functions at once, such as an eye cream that could also be used as a lip moisturizer. Yet, there is little research on consumers' perceptions of multi-purpose products and the brands that offer these products. This research examines the impact of consumers' own theory of beauty. We find that endorsing a strong incremental (vs. entity) theory of beauty (i.e., believing that one's beauty is changeable through one's effort rather than innate and unchangeable) reduces consumers' preferences for multi-purpose products, particularly among those who are highly appearance oriented. These consumers' reduced evaluation of multi-purpose products also spills over to their overall brand evaluation. The findings suggest that brand managers should consider consumers' implicit theory of beauty and product preferences when managing product knowledge.

Consumer Resistance and Satisfaction with Restaurant Self-service Technology (외식업체 셀프서비스기술에 대한 소비자 저항 및 만족)

  • This study aims to investigate the effects of self-service technology (SST) characteristics and consumer characteristics on consumer resistance and satisfaction with SST in restaurants. An online survey was conducted for consumers in their 20s and 50s who used SST at restaurants, and 343 data were used for analysis. As a result, convenience and tech-controllability have a negative effect on consumer resistance with SST, whereas complexity, social risk and relationship orientation have a positive effect. In addition, convenience, entertainment, and tech-controllability have a positive effect on consumer satisfaction with SST, whereas social risk and relationship orientation have a negative effect. This study contributes practically and academically in that it proposes a practical strategy to reduce consumer resistance and increase satisfaction, and identifies the determinants of consumer response to SST. In future studies, an in-depth analysis of consumers' ambivalent responses to SST is required.

  • 인간의 생태계를 근본적으로 위협하고 있는 기후변화와 같은 환경오염 문제는 글로벌 경쟁시대의 기업 경영에 있어 강력한 제재요인 중 하나로 관심이 집중되고 있다. 국내에서도 이러한 환경문제가 중요 이슈로 부각되고 있는데, 특히 인류생존에 필수적인 자연환경을 기반으로 사업을 영위하는 농업분야는 더욱 깊은 연관성을 갖는다. 정부는 이러한 농업분야에 대하여 도시와 농촌 간 소득 불균형이나 농촌인구 노령화 등의 문제를 해결하고 미래 성장산업으로 발전시키고자 6차산업화 인증 제도를 시행 중에 있으며 앞으로의 성장이 기대된다. 또한 최근 기업의 환경을 포함하는 사회적 책임활동에 대한 관심이 높아지고 능동적으로 참여하려는 소비자의 특성 변화에 따라 6차산업화 인증을 받은 기업들도 성장하기 위해서는 기업 활동의 근간이 되는 소비자 니즈에 더욱 집중할 필요성이 제기되므로 기업의 새로운 성장 방안으로써 고객과 환경에 집중하고 사회적 가치를 창출해 나가야 할 것으로 추측된다. 이에 본 연구에서는 6차산업화 인증을 받은 기업을 대상으로 고객지향성과 경영성과 간 관계에서 환경지향성이 조절효과를 가지는 지를 밝히고자 하였으며, 연구 결과 고객지향성은 경영성과에 정(+)의 영향을 미치며, 이러한 관계 속에서 환경지향성은 정(+)의 조절효과를 가진다는 것을 실증하였다. 즉, 6차산업화 인증기업이 경영성과를 제고시키기 위해서는 소비자의 변화와 기업이 수행해야 할 사회적 책임을 명확히 인식하여, 소비자 니즈기반의 환경보존과 같은 사회적 가치를 창출하고 공유하려는 친환경 지향적인 새로운 혁신전략을 수립하고 실행해 나가야 할 것이며 이를 통해 지속적인 성장을 견인할 수 있을 것이다.

The Influences of SMEs' Market Orientation and Brand Orientation on Firm Capabilities and Performance in Export Markets (수출중소기업의 시장지향성과 브랜드지향성이 기업역량 및 수출성과에 미치는 영향)

  • This study examined the casual relationships among SMEs' market orientation, brand orientation, firm capabilities-technology and marketing capabilities, competitive advantage and financial performance in export markets based on the resource-based view. The data were collected from 286 cases of exporting SMEs. The results of path analysis indicated that market orientation of exporting SMEs increased technology and marketing capabilities. Market orientation directly increased both competitive advantage and financial performance in export markets. Brand orientation influenced technological capability and had indirect effects on both competitive advantage and financial performance through the firm capabilities. Based on the results, managerial implications and future research directions for exporting SMEs were provided.
