LCL Cargo Loading Algorithm Considering Cargo Characteristics and Load Space (화물의 특성 및 적재 공간을 고려한 LCL 화물 적재 알고리즘)

  • The demand for Less than Container Load (LCL) has been on the rise due to the growing need for various small-scale production items and the expansion of the e-commerce market. Consequently, more companies in the International Freight Forwarder are now handling LCL. Given the variety in cargo sizes and the diverse interests of stakeholders, there's a growing need for a container loading algorithm that optimizes space efficiency. However, due to the nature of the current situation in which a cargo loading plan is established in advance and delivered to the Container Freight Station (CFS), there is a limitation that variables that can be identified at industrial sites cannot be reflected in the loading plan. Therefore, this study proposes a container loading methodology that makes it easy to modify the loading plan at industrial sites. By allowing the characteristics of cargo and the status of the container to be considered, the requirements of the industrial site were reflected, and the three-dimensional space was manipulated into a two-dimensional planar layer to establish a loading plan to reduce time complexity. Through the methodology presented in this study, it is possible to increase the consistency of the quality of the container loading methodology and contribute to the automation of the loading plan.

  • Many foreign freight forwarders make inroads into domestic markets. Korean freight forwarders are not competitive on th domestic logistics area because of higher customer services by foreign freight forwarders in Korea. The purpose of this research is to analyze degree of satisfaction on customer services attributes of freight forwarders in Korea, and to strengthen the competitiveness of customer services by Korea freight forwarders in contrast to foreign investment freight forwarders in Korea. The results of the research could be summarized as follows.: When freight forwarders are selected, the most important customer service attributes have been ranked in order with 'the accuracy management of shipping order' , the reasonable offers of freight rate' and 'the quick arrangement of vessels' when freight forwarders are selected.

  • This study aims to suggest a containerization plan for non-standardized cargo; it also reveals the significance of containerization in facilitating freight inducement and cargo creation for increasing the competitiveness of the Gwangyang port container terminal and checking excessive competition among terminal operators. Therefore, this study suggested a containerization plan and its significance by dividing 14 items, ones with low containerization ratios or undergoing containerization, bulk, and liquid cargoes. In the case of general cargo, it will be necessary to raise the utilization rate by remodeling a general container or improving cargo loading techniques. In the case of bulk cargo, it will be necessary to exploit the benefits of containerization in preventing product deterioration due to rain, facilitating the sale of small orders, ensuring clean cargo handling, and reducing logistics cost, among others. In the case of liquid cargo, it will be necessary to order and sell liquid cargo in small quantities by using superior quality, safe, and durable Flexitank or Flexibag products, which offer transportation convenience and reduce time and costs.

  • Container Freight Station(CFS), which would be located inside terminal or outside, plays the role of consolidating less than container load(LCL) cargo gathered from multi shippers and deconsolidating full container load cargo into individual consignment. When CFS is allocated inside terminal it muses several problem such as traffic gam around terminal, high social and logistics cost and deterioration of terminal condition. This study, therefore, tries to evaluate the location of CFS, inside and outside of terminal, with respect to the social and logistics costs.

International Comparison of Railway Freight Performance (국가별 철도물류 운영현황 비교연구)

  • This study aims to quantify the railway freight performance using various indicators, to compare it over many countries, and to evaluate efficiency of railway freight in Korea. The indicators developed in this study was classified into two categories; country-specific and company-specific indicator. The former includes freight train density, average gross train load and average haul while the latter contains revenue/ton-km, ratio of operating costs to revenue, revenue per employee, ton-km per employee, costs per ton-km and ratio of labor costs to total operating costs. The results of this study shows that Korail performance is in low efficiency due to multi-frequency small amounts transport. The productivity of railway freight in Korea represented as ton-km per employee appears to be lower than that of other oversea companies considered in this study.

Principles for Government Involvement in Urban Logistics Planning (도시물류정비를 위한 공공부문의 역할에 관한 연구)

  • The pattern of urban transport activity has two major components: the movement of people and the movement of goods. Roads in urban areas carry large number of trucks laden with goods that support urban economy and lifestyle. Therefore urban goods movement plays a vital role, but at the same time, urban goods movement are an important source of congestion, and a major contributor to the adverse environmental and social impacts of urban transport. In addition, the demand for goods movement is growing at a faster rate than personal travel in many cities, due to changes in industry logistics and consumer purchasing patterns. As a result, the significance of urban freight activity is increasing in terms of both its role in urban economy and its adverse impacts on urban amenity. This study is focused on the role and involvement scope of metropolitan government in urban logistics aimed at increasing its efficiency and reducing its negative impacts. The major suggestions of this study are (a) development of a measure of urban goods movement activity, (b) evaluation of data requirements and availability, (c) dialogue between the public sector and private sector, and (d) the role of metropolitan government.

  • 극저온 유체를 운반하는 선박의 화물창은 보통 1차 방벽과 2차 방벽으로 구성되어 있다. 1차 방벽에 소량의 극저온 유체의 누출이 생기더라도, 액밀이 되는 2차 방벽에서 추가적인 극저온 유체의 누출을 방지할 수 있기 때문이다. 그러나 2차 방벽에 추가적인 손상이 생길 경우 유리솜으로 만들어진 Flat Joint를 거쳐 선체내벽까지 극저온 유체에 노출될 가능성이 있게 된다. 본 연구의 관심사는 2차 방벽의 손상 정도에 따라, 그리고 누출되는 극저온 유체의 양에 따라, 내측선체에 얼마나 영향이 미치는가를 알아보는 것이다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 극저온 유체를 운반하는 선박의 화물창을 구성하는 2차 방벽에 구멍을 뚫어 Flat Joint 사이로 극저온 유체가 흘러 들어가도록 격자를 생성한 후, CFD 소프트웨어를 이용하여 극저온 유체의 누출에 대한 계산을 수행 하였으며 이를 실험 결과와 비교 분석 하였다. 실험과 계산 결과를 살펴보면, 극저온 유체량에 따라 내측 선체에의 피해를 최소화 할 수 있음을 확인하였다.

  • 대부분의 기계장치는 철을 주재료로 하여 만들어진다. 철은 본래 순수 금속으로서는 존재하지 않고 주로 다른 원소와 결합하여 산화물로 존재한다. 철 산화물이나 철광석을 재련하면 순수금속(free metal)이 얻어지는데 성능을 개량하기 위해 소량의 다른 원소를 첨가하게 된다. 그러나 금속철을 철산화물로 되돌리려는 자연의 힘이 막강하여 유용한 금속이 못쓰게 된다. 이는 마치 인간이 철광석에서 유용한 금속을 만들어내는 것을 자연이 다시 환원시켜 인간의 성공에 반항하는 것 같다. 미국에서만 매년 철 종류의 부식에 대처하기 위해 사용되는 물질이 60억달러 이상 소요되는 것으로 추산되고 있으며 철 종류 50톤중 1톤이 매년 산화물인 녹으로 바뀌어 지고 있는 실정이다.

Chemical Reactivity of N-Iodopyridinium Dichlorodate as a Lubricant Additive (潤滑添加劑로서의 N-Iodopyridinium Dichlorodate의 화학반응성)

  • Small amounts of iodine compound in mineral oils are usually effective in reducing friction of metallic surfaces. Such improvement in frictional behaviour of wear characteristics was explained by the formation of a diiodide layer lattice structure at the metallic contact surfaces. The lubrication mechanism, however, by which organoiodine compounds functions is not based on the formation of such lattice structure iodide. It was tested and shown, by a static surface chemical reactivity test, wear and EP tests, and a hot wire method, that compound such as N-iodopyridinium dichlorodate, a double charge transfer complex, reacted with metals as an interhalogen compound and that the resultant thin film product reduced appreciable the friction of metallic surfaces, more than compounds such as methyl iodide, diiodomethane, and iodoform. These results suggest that the action of iodine, included in organoiodine compounds, is not that of a classical layer structure iodide, and an entirely new mechanism may be derived from a further studies on charge transfer complex compounds of organoiodine compounds.
