In this paper, the outage probability of device-to-device (D2D) uplink communication underlaying cellular networks is analyzed over Rayleigh fading. We assume that a D2D pair and M cellular user equipments share the same frequency resources. To prevent any harmful interference from a D2D transmitter to the BS, the maximum transmit power of the D2D transmitter is strictly limited. Under these assumptions, the outage probability is represented as a function of the interference-to-signal ratio from M cellular user equipments to a D2D receiver and the number of cellular user equipments, M. In addition, the interference-to-signal ratio is represented as a function of distances among D2D equipments, cellular user equipments and the BS. Simulation results validate these analytical results.
While most GIS are based on Euclidean space, cellular space can be used as an alternative type of space for a large number of GIS applications. In order to analyze the pattern of moving objects in cellular space, we need new definitions of similarity between their trajectories since the trajectory in cellular space significantly differs from those in Euclidean space. In this paper, we study the properties of moving objects in cellular space. Based on these observations, we propose several similarity measures between trajectories in cellular space. We analyze the difference of the proposed measures by experiments.

A cellular system with fixed relays is considered to be a technology that can support high data transmission service to wide areas. However, either inter-cell interference or inter-sector interference that can be produced by adding relays to the cellular system with fixed relays does not guarantee high link performance to deteriorate function, so that resource allocation for avoidance of interference is very much important. In the paper, the cellular system performance with repeater relay has been compared with the cellular system performance with relay, and cell coverage expansion at the use of relay repeater has been compared. To compare, this paper has suggested resource allocation method to avoid inter-cell interference and inter-sector interference at installation of fixed relay on the cellular system. The proposed method can allocate different frequency resources on adjacent base stations and relays to reduce interference and to expand high data transmission area, and all of frequency bands are used at each sector to elevate efficiency of the frequency when base stations and relays operate simultaneously.
This tutorial paper presents the design methodology of system-level simulators targeted for code division multiple access (CDMA) cellular standards such as EV-DO (Evolution-Data Only) and broadcast multicast service (BCMCS). The basic structure and simulation flow of system-level simulators are delineated, following the procedure of cell layout, mobile drops, channel modeling, received power calculation, scheduling, packet error prediction, and traffic generation. Packet data transmissions on the forward link of CDMA systems and EV-DO BCMCS systems are considered for modeling simulators. System-level simulators for cellular standards are modeled and developed with high-level languages and utilized to evaluate and predict air interface performance metrics including capacity and coverage.

OFDM is a key technology for 4G cellular systems in the future. But when OFDM is used in cellular system environment, it has severe inter-cell interference problems. In this paper, we propose an ICIC scheme that can reduce inter-cell interference for OFDM-based 4G cellular systems. and we analyze the efficiency of the proposed scheme. Simulation is carried out according to the simplified 3GPP LTE system level simulation parameters. We have confirmed the improvement of Geometry efficiency about 4dB at the results.

To cope with the explosive growth of traffic which is considered as one of the most biggest threat to current mobile communication systems, various solutions such as small cell and device-to-device communication have been exploited. Directional transmission in which transmission power of base station is focused onto the direction where the mobile station is located, can be used to increase throughput of the system. In this work, we develop a system-level simulator for cellular mobile communication systems using directional transmission and adaptive interference estimation scheme for directional transmission has been proposed. By using the developed simulator, the performance of cellular mobile communication systems with directional transmission is examined. Moreover, it is shown that the overall throughput of cellular system can be improved by utilizing directional transmission.
In the macro/femto cellular networks, the portion of channels assigned to each cell is a critical factor which sets the stability and the performance of the whole system. To grasp the concrete influence that the channel split portion have on the system, we present the queueing model for IP based macro/femto cellular networks, and find the stability conditions. Additionally we provide the strategy to decide the portion of channels allocated to each cell. Through the experiments, we prove that the proposed strategies operate feasibly in various network environments, and on the basis of these results we discuss the efficient system structure plan.
The capacity of a digital cellular CDMA system is evaluated by computer simulation for reverse link (mobile-to-base) with 37 hexagonal cells including 3 rings from a center cell. It is assumed that the channels have shadow fading and the system is ideally power controlled. In this paper the capacity of CBMA system is evaluated for various propagation exponents, voice activity factors and neighboring cell traffics. The following results are obtained. The capacity of CDMA system is increased according to the increase of the propagation exponents and the decrease of the voice activity factors. Its capacity is about 15 and 5 times larger thari that of analog cellular FM/FDMA and digital cellular TDMA for $\gamma=4$ respectively, and is very sensitive to the neighboring cell traffics.
