Design and Performance Evaluation of a Marine Engine Fault Detection System Using a Proximity Sensor for a Marine Engine (선박 엔진용 근접 센서를 이용한 선박 엔진 고장진단시스템 설계 및 성능 분석)

  • This paper proposes the design and performance evaluation of a marine engine fault detection system using a proximity sensor for marine engine. Non-linearity is greatly reduced by using the sensor without increasing the response time by applying the CANopen protocol. The CANopen protocol enables the sensor to send initial values and measurement data. The marine engine fault detection system measures crankshaft deflection and the bottom dead center of the crosshead in real-time, which maintains stability and prevents the serious breakdown of the marine engine by use of an interlocking alarm monitoring system.

  • 최근 차량용 IT 기술이 발달함에 따라 네비게이션, 위치추적, 인터넷 접수, 원격 차량 진단, 사고감지, 긴급구난, 교통정보 등을 제공하는 서비스들이 등장하고 있다. 또한 차량의 편의성과 안정성을 추구함과 동시에 친환경 등에 대한 요구도 증가하고 있다. 그리고 최근 차량 상호간 정보의 교환이 더욱 필요해짐에 따라 차량간의 무선 통신 기능이 중요해지고 있으며 차량 내의 네트워크 기술에 대한 연구도 필요하다. 현재 차량 내 네트워크로는 CAN, LIN, MOST등의 유선으로 된 버스 시스템을 중심으로 한 차량 제어 시스템과 멀티미디어 시스템으로 크게 구분할 수 있다. 그러나 자동차 내에 장치 배선이 복잡해짐에 따라 차량의 무게 증가, 고장율의 증가, 연비 저하 등으로 이어지고 있다. 이러한 문제를 보완하기 위해 차량 내에 무선 센서 네트워크 시스템과의 통합 개발이 요구되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 빠르게 발전하고 있는 차량 내 네트워크에 대한 기술개발 동향을 분석하고, 유무선 통합형 차량 내 네트워크 응용 서비스들을 제시하고자 한다.

  • 20~30년 전부터 국내 지중송전선로에 OF(Oil Filled)케이블을 사용해 왔다. OF케이블은 오랜 시간동안 신뢰성을 화고하고 있으며, 전연파괴 사고를 미연에 방지할 수 있는 장점이 있지만 유지보수에 많은 어려움이 있고, 절연유에 의한 환경오염이 발생하며, 화재에 취약한 단점이 있다. 최근 20~30년 전에 설치된 OF케이블의 수명이 한계에 도달하면서 고장 위험성이 증가하고, 누유의 위험성이 도사리고 있다. 본 논문에서는 OF케이블 상태 진단방법에 있어서 절연유에 반응하는 필름센서를 활용하여 절연유 탱크의 연결부에서 누유현상을 감지하여 OF케이블 누유 관리시스템을 개발하자 한다.

스마트 항로표지 통합플랫폼을 위한 마이크로 서비스 아키텍처

  • 항로표지는 다양한 장비들이 복합적으로 구성되는 장치이다. 이러한 복합적 장비의 유연하고 안정적 운영을 위해서는 주 운영체제의 안정성을 보장해야 한다. 모든 SW는 주 운영체제에 영향을 줄 수 있다. 이러한 문제를 최대한 예방하기 위해 마이크로서비스 아키텍처가 필요하다. 서비스 마다 독립된 자원공간을 활용하는 마이크로 서비스 아키텍처는 리눅스 컨테이너 기법을 활용하여 구현된다. 제안하는 스마트 항로표지의 운영을 담당하는 통합플랫폼의 마이크로 서비스 아키텍처의 주요 서비스로 센서 데이터 스트리밍 서비스, 임베디드 고장진단 서비스, 데이터베이스 서비스, 원격 통신 서비스, 컴퓨팅 리소스 모니터링 서비스, 시각화 서비스로 구성된다. 본 연구에서는 전체 마이크로서비스 아키텍처를 제안하고 그중에서도 주요 서비스들의 구현 방법을 기존 오픈소스 활용을 통해 제안한다. 제안하는 구조를 통해 각 서비스가 컨테이너화 되어 관리됨으로써 에러대처와 업데이트 관리에 용이한 마이크로서비스아키텍처를 구현할 수 있다.

  • Wind energy is currently the fastest growing source of renewable energy used for electrical generation around the world. Wind farms are adding a significant amount of electrical generation capacity. The increase in the number of wind farms has led to the need for more effective operation and maintenance. CMS(Condition Monitoring System) can be used to aid plant operator in achieving these goals. Its aim is to provide operators with information regarding th e health of their machine, which in turn, can help them improve operation efficiency. In this work, wind turbine fault diagnostic algorithm which can diagnose the mass unbalance and aerodynamic asymmetry of the blades is proposed. Proposed diagnostic algorithm utilizes both FFT(Fast Feurier Transform) of the signal from accelerometers installed inside of nacelle and simple diagnostic logic. Furthermore, to verify the applicability of the proposed system, 3W small sized wind turbine system is tested and physical experiments are carried out.

  • Railway is one of the public transportation systems along with shipping and aviation. With the recent introduction of high speed train, its proportion is increasing rapidly, which results in the higher risk of catastrophic failures. The wheel bearing to support the train is one of the important components requiring higher reliability and safety in this aspect. Recently, many studies have been made under the name of prognostics and health management (PHM), for the purpose of fault diagnosis and failure prognosis of the bearing under operation. Among them, the most important step is to extract a feature that represents the fault status properly and is useful for accurate remaining life prediction. However, the conventional features have shown some limitations that make them less useful since they fluctuate over time even after the signal de-noising or do not show a distinct pattern of degradation which lack the monotonic trend over the cycles. In this study, a new method for feature extraction is proposed based on the observation of relative frequency energy shifting over the cycles, which is then converted into the feature using the information entropy. In order to demonstrate the method, traditional and new features are generated and compared using the bearing data named FEMTO which was provided by the FEMTO-ST institute for IEEE 2012 PHM Data Challenge competition.

A Predictive Bearing Anomaly Detection Model Using the SWT-SVD Preprocessing Algorithm (SWT-SVD 전처리 알고리즘을 적용한 예측적 베어링 이상탐지 모델)

  • In various manufacturing processes such as textiles and automobiles, when equipment breaks down or stops, the machines do not work, which leads to time and financial losses for the company. Therefore, it is important to detect equipment abnormalities in advance so that equipment failures can be predicted and repaired before they occur. Most equipment failures are caused by bearing failures, which are essential parts of equipment, and detection bearing anomaly is the essence of PHM(Prognostics and Health Management) research. In this paper, we propose a preprocessing algorithm called SWT-SVD, which analyzes vibration signals from bearings and apply it to an anomaly transformer, one of the time series anomaly detection model networks, to implement bearing anomaly detection model. Vibration signals from the bearing manufacturing process contain noise due to the real-time generation of sensor values. To reduce noise in vibration signals, we use the Stationary Wavelet Transform to extract frequency components and perform preprocessing to extract meaningful features through the Singular Value Decomposition algorithm. For experimental validation of the proposed SWT-SVD preprocessing method in the bearing anomaly detection model, we utilize the PHM-2012-Challenge dataset provided by the IEEE PHM Conference. The experimental results demonstrate significant performance with an accuracy of 0.98 and an F1-Score of 0.97. Additionally, to substantiate performance improvement, we conduct a comparative analysis with previous studies, confirming that the proposed preprocessing method outperforms previous preprocessing methods in terms of performance.

Remote Communication of sensor data in Ballast Water Treatment System (선박 평형수 처리 시스템에서 센서 데이터의 원격 통신)

  • The ballast water may be discharged into another sea area with marine organisms, it caused problems to disturb the marine ecosystem. So, in order to remove these environmental risk factors, the IMO has mandated the installation of BWTS to the all ships. Our monitoring system diagnose and predict a failure of BWTS by analyzing the sensor information of BWTS collected from which the ships scattered in the ocean of several. This paper presents the design and implementation of communication modules for BWTS remote monitoring considering the satellite communication charge fee. In the our study, we implemented the safety and cost-saving communication modules by LabVIEW program. The collected sensor informations is encrypted and compressed by LabVIEW modules running on RIO. Then they will be transfer to the land server and will be decrypt to enable monitoring in the land server. For the verification, we build the test modules which can verify from collecting the sensor data to consuming them in the monitoring server. We carried out 20 times for the data pattern in all of case. So, we verified the excellent functionality and reliability through the experimental result.

A Study on the Diagonosis and Prediction System of Vehicle Faults Using Condition Based Maintenance Technique (상태기반 유지보수 기법을 적용한 차량고장 진단 및 예측 시스템 연구)

  • Recently, with the development of sensor and communication technology, researchers at home and abroad have actively conducted research on methodologies for determining maintenance through diagnosis and prediction techniques by collecting information on the status of equipment or systems. Based on the status of vehicle parts at this point in time, this study presented a system framework for making maintenance decisions by predicting the change in vehicle part status to a future date based on the current state of vehicle parts. In addition, condition diagnosis and predictive data adjustment was configured through tracking the status of vehicle parts before and after maintenance activities. We hope that the application of the results of this study will contribute a little to the safety of citizens using public buses and to the activation of the condition-based maintenance system of vehicles.

  • This is concerned with the technology to monitor the vehicle operation, failure and disorder by using WiBro portable device. More precisely, the technology makes it possible that the information collection device is connected to both ECU(Electronic Control Unit) which is the device for controlling engine, transmission, brake, air-bag, etc that are connected to in-vehicle network and OBD-II connector that is for data collection from various sensors. In addition, with a WiBro portable device (cell phone, PDA, PMP, UMPC, etc). equipped with a vehicle diagnostic programs, information for operation, failure and malfunction can be obtained and analyzed in real-time, and alarm is alerted when the vehicle is in abnormal status, which makes the early reactions to the status. Furthermore, the collected data can be sent through WiBro network to the server managed by the company specialized in managing the vehicles, thus the technology could help the drivers who have less knowledge about their auto-vehicles have safe and economic driving. There is always a possibility of malfunction due to various types of noise that are caused by wring-harness when the device is wired-connected. In this research, in order to overcome this problem, we propose a system configuration that can do monitoring and diagnosis with a device for collecting data from vehicle and a personal WiBro device. Also, we performed research on data acquisition and interlock for the system defined by the definition for information and data sharing platform.
