Fingerprint recognition technology was studied by classification and matching. In general, there are five different classifications left loop, right loop, whore, arch, and tented-arch. These classifications are used to determine which class an individual's fingerprint belong to, thereby identifying the individual's fingerprint pattern. The result of this classification, which is sent to the large fingerprint database as an index, helps reduce the matching time and enhance the accuracy of fingerprint matching. The existing fingerprint classification method relies on the number and location of cores and delta points called singular points. The drawback of this method is the lack of accuracy stemming from the classification difficulty involving unclear and/or partially-erased fingerprints. The current paper presents an efficient classification method to rectify the problem associated with identifying Singular points from unclear fingerprints. This method, which is based on Gabor filter's unique characteristics for magnifying directional patterns and frequency range selections, improves fingerprint classification accuracy significantly. In this paper, this method is described and its test result is presented for verification.

To cope with recently increasing demand for data traffics, heterogeneous networks have been actively studied, where small cells are deployed within a macro cell coverage with the same frequency band. To mitigate the interference from the macro cell to small cells, an enhanced Inter-cell Interference Coordination (eICIC) technique has been proposed, where ABS (Almost Blank Subframe) is used in time domain. However, there is a waste of resource since no data is transmitted in a macro-cell in ABS. In this paper, we propose a new interference management method by using a 3D sector beam based on Active Antenna System (AAS), where Genetic Algorithm (GA) is applied to reduce the antenna gain toward a small-cell. With the proposed scheme, the macro-cell and small cells can transmit data at the same time with the AAS antenna pattern generating reduced interference to small cells. The performance of the proposed scheme is evaluated by using an LTE-Advanced system level simulator.

DNA data storage refers to any technique for storing massive digital data in base sequence of DNA and has been recognized as the future storage medium recently. This paper presents an information hiding method for DNA data storage that the massive data is hidden in non-coding strand based on DNA steganography. Our method maps the encrypted data to the data base sequence using the numerical mapping table and then hides it in the non-coding strand using the key that consists of the seed and sector length. Therefore, our method can preserve the protein, extract the hidden data without the knowledge of host DNA sequence, and detect the position of mutation error. Experimental results verify that our method has more high data capacity than conventional methods and also detects the positions of mutation errors by the parity bases.

In this paper, an intercell interference (ICI) reduction technique is proposed for OFDM-based cellular systems using the concept of virtual multiple antenna where multiple antenna techniques are performed on a set of subcarriers, not on the actual antenna array. The proposed technique is especially effective for user terminals with a single antenna at cell boundary in fully-loaded OFDM cellular systems with a frequency reuse factor equal to 1. Proposed ICI reduction techniques developed for SISO and MISO environments are shown to be robust to symbol timing offsets and efficient for various cell environments by adjusting group size depending on the number of adjacent cells. Also, the concept of a virtual signature randomizer (VSR) is introduced to improve channel separability in the virtual MIMO approach. It is shown by simulation that the proposed techniques are effective in reducing ICI and inter-sector interference compared with the conventional methods.
In this paper, we have analyzed the effects of the interference from HAPS airship stations to P-MP FWA base station and to P-MP FWA terminal station, using more detail parameters such as a new interference model, a realistic HAPS scenario, practical antenna patterns for both HAPS system and FWA system. The analysis results show that, in the case of interference from HAPS AS into the P-MP FWA BS, compatibility between two systems can be obtained by using a sectored BS antenna with the boresight directed away from the nadir. However, in the case of Interference from HAPS AS into the P-MP FWA TS, the two systems cannot operate effectively in the same bands unless the separation distance is guranteed and/or some form of interference mitigation technique is employed such as dynamic channel allocation.
This paper presents an approach to the classifications of small size document using the instance-based feature filtering Relief-F algorithm. In the document classifications, we have not always good classification performances of small size document included a few features. Because total number of feature in the document set is large, but feature count of each document is very small relatively, so the similarities between documents are very low when we use general assessment of similarity and classifiers. Specially, in the cases of the classification of web document in the directory service and the classification of the sectors that cannot connect with the original file after recovery hard-disk, we have not good classification performances. Thus, we propose the Extended Relief-F(ERelief-F) algorithm using instance-based feature filtering algorithm Relief-F to solve problems of Relief-F as preprocess of classification. For the performance comparison, we tested information gain, odds ratio and Relief-F for feature filtering and getting those feature values, and used kNN and SVM classifiers. In the experimental results, the Extended Relief-F(ERelief-F) algorithm, compared with the others, performed best for all of the datasets and reduced many irrelevant features from document sets.
As the number of large size multimedia files increases and the importance of individual's digital data grows, storage devices have been advanced to store more data into smaller spaces. In such circumstances, a physical damage in a storage device can destroy large amount of important data. Therefore, it is needed to verify the robustness of various physical faults in storage device before certain systems are used. We developed SOAR(Storage Reliability Analyzer), Storage Reliability Analyzer, to detect physical faults in diverse kinds of HDD hardware components and to recover the systems from those faults. This is a useful tool to verify robustness and reliability of a disk. SOAR uses three unique methods of creating physical damages on a disk and two unique techniques to apply the same feature on file systems. In this paper, we have performed comprehensive tests to verify the robustness and reliability of storage device with SOAR, and from the verification result we could confirm SOAR is a very efficient tool.

In this paper, 2-D RAKE receiver simulator is made which beamforming technique is applied to in WCI)MA uplink basestation, and the performance is compared with that of 1-D RAKE receiver with varying the number of array elements, RAKE fingers and users. To model angular component of received signal and interfering signals due to multiple access, it is assumed that multiple users are located in the arbitrary direction of the same distance far from the basestation within a sector of the cell, and the channel simulator is made by using Geometry Based Single Bounce Elliptical Model(GBSBEM) suggested by Rappaport. BER performance is compared and analyzed with the various choise of the number of array elements, the number of RAKE fingers, the number of users and Eb/No. These results indicate that increasing the number of array elements eliminates efficiently multiple access interfering signals and improves dramatically BER performance.

In this paper, we propose new cell structures using multi-hop Relay Station(RS) based on IEEE802.16j in Narrow-Beam Trisector Cell (NBTC) and Wide-Beam Trisector Cell (WBTC), which are two methods for cell sectorization using 3-sector directional antennas. Then, we analyze our proposed structures compared with the existing system which does not use any RS about the numbers of optimized Base Station (BS) and multi-hop relay, the extended BS coverage, and the deployment cost according to the traffic density using optimization model. According to the results, we know the reduction of total deployment cost of the proposed systems and that WBTC is suitable when the traffic density is high and NBTC is suitable when the traffic density is low in our proposed multi-hop based NBTC and WBTC structures.

MIMO systems utilizing multiple antenna transmission and reception is one of the key technologies to enhance the capacity of 5G wireless communications. In order to obtain an appropriate performance evaluation of MIMO techniques, the usage of wireless channel model reflecting spatial channel characteristics is required, such as the 3-dimensional spatial channel model(3D SCM) proposed by 3GPP TR36.873 documentation. In this paper, we implement and verify the channel simulation environment based on 3D SCM, to present and compare the characteristics of UMi and UMa environments. We also apply MIMO transmission to the UMa scenario to investigate the channel correlation among antenna elements with different array distances and to identify the corresponding throughput changes. By evaluating the channel power correlations for randomly distributed users within the sector for different horizontal and vertical antenna distances, we present the statistical characteristics which determine the transmission performance under the SCM environment.
