Analysis of Non-Destructive Flaws in Ceramic Images (퍼지 이진화 방법을 이용한 세라믹 영상에서 결함 분석)

  • 비파괴 검사란 재료나 제품을 원형과 기능에 변화를 주지 않고 실시하여 원하는 정보를 획득할 수 있는 검사를 의미한다. 비파괴검사는 점검자의 육안 조사를 통한 수작업으로 이루어지고 있기 때문에 점검자의 주관이 개입되며, 점검자에 따라 검사 결과의 차이가 있을 수 있으므로 신뢰도의 차이가 발생하게 된다. 그러므로 본 논문에서는 비파괴 검사를 이용하여 획득한 세라믹 소재 영상에서 효율적으로 결함을 검출하는 방법을 제안한다. 제안된 방법은 세라믹 소재 영상에 가우시안 필터링 기법을 적용하여 잡음을 제거하고, Ends-in Search Stretching 기법을 적용하여 명암 대비를 강조한다. 명암 대비가 강조된 영상에 샤프닝 기법을 적용하여 윤곽선을 강조한다. 윤곽선이 강조된 영상에 $3{\times}3 $ Roberts 마스크를 적용하여 강조된 윤곽선을 추출하고, Glassfire 기법을 적용하여 라벨링한 후, 시그마 퍼지 이진화 기법과 형태학적 정보를 이용하여 잡음을 제거하고 결함 영역을 검출한다. 제안된 방법을 세라믹 소재 영상을 대상으로 실험한 결과, 효율적으로 결함을 검출하는 것을 확인할 수 있었다.

Reaction of α-Fe2O3 Red Pigment and Transparent Dielectric Materials (적색안료인 α-Fe2O3와 투명 유전체의 반응)

  • We searched thermal stability of ${\alpha}-Fe_2O_3$ using red color filter for display. In the PDP(Plasma Display Panel), the color filter layer is lied normally between front glass and transparent dielectric materials, so it might be needed to study the reaction of ${\alpha}-Fe_2O_3$ and transparent dielectric materials. The transparent dielectric materials containing ZnO has good transparency. Red colorlayer of ${\alpha}-Fe_2O_3$ contacted with dielectric material layer containing ZnO is changed to colorlessness over 500$^{\circ}$C because ZnO defuse ${\alpha}-Fe_2O_3$, the dielectric materials without ZnO, however, maintain red color at the same condition. We suggest that a layer contacting with ${\alpha}-Fe_2O_3$ red color layer has to lie with transparent dielectric materials without ZnO, then the materials containing ZnO is coated over to get color of ${\alpha}-Fe_2O_3$ for red color filter

Fabrication of Silicon Carbide Candle Filter and Performance Evaluation at High Temperature and Pressure (탄화규소 캔들형 필터의 제조 및 고온고압 하에서의 성능평가)

  • Silicon carbide candle filters for the pressurized fluidized bed combustion system were fabricated by extrusion process. Carbon black was added to control the porosity. Inorganic additives such as clay and calcium carbonate were added to exhibit appropriate strength. Silicon carbide layer with a finer pore size (mean pore diameter ~$10{\mu}m$) was coated on the silicon carbide support layer (mean pore diameter ~$47{\mu}m$, porosity ∼40%). After that, the filter was sintered at 1400${\circ}C$ in air. We evaluated the filtration performances of the filter at 500${\circ}C$ and $5kgf/cm^2$ of pressure. As a result, high separation efficiency, >99.999% was measured. It is expected that silicon carbide candle filter can be successfully used for the pressurized fluidized bed combustion system.

A Study on catalyst-coated ceramic filter for diesel engine exhaust-gas treatment (디젤엔진 배가스 처리를 위한 세라믹 필터 촉매코팅에 관한 연구)

  • Modified dip-coating method 8.3 times shorten in solution volume-coated and 83.3 times in coating time than existing dip-coating method. Coating weight increased nearly 2~3 times. So modified dip-coating method is evaluated that it is economic and has a efficiency. When we make an experiment in coated $LaCoO_3$ on ceramic monolith in modified dip-coating method which use 2 coating applications with relative viscosity $0.006202kg{\cdot}m/sec$, it showed a superior reaction at 88.56mg per ceramic unit gram in NO-CO reaction(optimum coating amount). When we make an experiment in the same size of ceramic filter cell with different conditions 100, 200cell per square inch, the result in low temperature($200^{\circ}C{\sim}350^{\circ}C$), 200cell3 per square inch is 6~23% higher in NO reduction and 11% in CO oxidation than 100cell per square inch. It is because the more the number of cells in the ceramic filter increase, the more catalytic surface area is expanded.

  • Cambodia is a typical country that a very famous tourist destination in South Asian regions, but water has some serious problems. As a public hygiene point of view, water problems in Cambodia can be roughly classified into two categories. A numbers of the report revealed that thermotolerant coliform(TTC) bacteria and arsenic(As) pollution representative species as a representative pollutant for surface water and ground water problems, respectively. In recent years, home water purifier systems for various filter systems including BSF(Bio-Sand Filter), MF and RO have been spread and adopted in rural areas. However, BSF and composite membrane processes are recognized as an undesirable and representative method due to unreliable efficiency, high cost and maintenance issues. In order to develop a small-scale ceramic filter as a home water purifier, the applicability of two types of gravity ceramic filter using clay and red soil in the part of the Northwest was made and compared in this research.

Fabrication and Properties of Reaction Bonded SiC Hot Gas Filter Using Si Melt Infiltration Method (용융 Si 침윤방법에 의한 반응소결 탄화규소 고온가스 필터의 제조 및 특성)

  • Novel fabrication technique was developed for high strength Reaction-Bonded SiC (RBSC) hot gas filter for use in IGCC (Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle) system. The room and high temperature fracture strengths for Si-melt infiltrated reaction-bonded SiC were 50-123, and 60-66 MPa, respectively. The average pore size was 60-70 $\mu\textrm{m}$ and the porosity was about 34 vol%. RBSC infiltrated with molten silicon showed improved fracture strength at high temperature, as compared to that of clay-bonded SiC, due to SiC/Si phase present within SiC phase. The thickness for SiC/Si phase was increased with increasing powder particle size of SiC from 10 to 34 $\mu\textrm{m}$. Pressure drop with dust particles showed similar response as compared to that for Schumacher type 20 filter. The filter fabricated in the present study showed good performance in that the filtered powder size was reduced drastically to below 1 $\mu\textrm{m}$ within 4 min.

Performance Evaluation of Sintered Metal Filter in LILW Vitrification Facility (중.저준위 방사성폐기물 유리화설비에서 금속필터 적용성평가)

  • A performance test of the stainless steel based sintered metal filter was conducted on the low and intermediate level radioactive waste (LILW) vitrification process. The applicability of the metal filter was based on the test results as well. The baseline pressure drop of the metal filter was evaluated similar to the ceramic filter. During the test, when the flow rate of off-gas was $110Nm^{3}/h$, the total baseline pressure drop was shown as $92mmH_{2}O$. The total pressure drop was attributed to the filter media and the residual dust layer and the value of each was $25mmH_{2}O\;and\;67mmH_{2}O$ respectively. The SEM-EDS spectrum and micrograph of the metal filter specimen showed, no corrosion and no physical damage both at the skin membrane and at the support layer. And most of the baseline pressure drop was caused by the deposition of dust on the surface of the membrane. In conclusion, even though the filter exposure time was short at the test, the performance of the stainless steel based metal filter was acceptable for the treatment of LILW vitrification process.

Automatic Defect Detection using Fuzzy Binarization and Brightness Contrast Stretching from Ceramic Images for Non-Destructive Testing (비파괴 검사를 위한 개선된 퍼지 이진화와 명암 대비 스트레칭을 이용한 세라믹 영상에서의 결함 영역 자동 검출)

  • In this paper, we propose a computer vision based automatic defect detection method from ceramic image for non-destructive testing. From region of interest of the image, we apply brightness enhancing stretching algorithm first. One of the strength of our method is that it is designed to detect defects of images obtained from various thicknesses, that is, 8, 10, 11, 16, and 22 mm. In other cases we apply histogram based binarization algorithm. However, for 8 mm case, it may have false positive cases due to weak brightness contrast between defect and noise. Thus, we apply modified fuzzy binarization algorithm for 8 mm case. From the experiment, we verify that the proposed method shows stronger result than our previous study that used Blob labelling for all five thickness cases as expected.

Design of the Small BPF for Wireless Communication Systems (무선통신용 초소형 대역통과 필터의 설계)

  • In this paper, a small BPF(band pass filter) is designed using new probe type for wireless communication system. The dielectric resonator is used high Q ceramics for low loss characteristic. In order to provide a band pass filter which can be reduced in dimension, can be reduced in height, and can be surface-mounted. The filter was fabricated using $TE_{01{\delta}}$ mode dielectric resonator. The input/output probes are attached to coner portion of the rectangular metal cavity. Results of the manufactured filter($12{\times}12{\times}8[mm]$) show that the center frequency is 9.95358[GHz], the insertion loss is -1.9[dB], the 3[dB]_bandwidth is 14.9[MHz], and the loaf Q is 664.

Effect of Size of Sintered Body on Resonant and Filter Characteristics in Pb(Sn1/2Sb1/2)O3-PbTiO3 Piezoelectric Ceramics (Pb(Sn1/2Sb1/2)O3-PbTiO3계 소결체의 직경변화가 공진 및 필터특성에 미치는 영향)

  • In this study, the effect of the size of sintered body on resonant and filter characteristics in Pb(Sn1/2Sb1/2)O3-PbTiO3 piezo-electric system were investigated. The attenuation characteristics of ring-dot type and ladder type filter were also investigated. As the size of sintered body was decreased, the resonant characteristic(Fr, Fa) and the center frequency(Fo) were increased. As the poling field was increased, the Kp and bandwidth were increased. The big difference between rign-dot type and ladder type was the sharpness of bandwidth, selectivity and the movement of center frequency.
