Cultural Differences of Choice on Interaction Problem (인터랙션 문제에 대한 선택의 문화적 차이)

  • This study is aimed to compare choices on interaction problems, and to consider the reason of the choices. It was expected that the interaction problems are influenced from national culture, age, gender and so on. The first interaction problem in this study is default answer button when user operates to delete all messages on SMS in-box. Second one is action when pop-p window warning dangerousness of install showed on web browsing. The third one is type(analog/digital) and information expression of control panel on soup maker. 639 Korean data and 784 data from China, Japan and the Netherlands are analyzed through cross-tabulation and chi-square test. In the results, many Japanese choose 'No' answer at SMS delete problem, while many Dutch choose 'Yes'. The result suggests that uncertainty avoidance effect on interaction problems. On warning pop-up, Younger generation and men choose actively 'install' than older one and women. On type of control panel, Dutch subjects preferred analog type than other countries' subjects. On expression of control panel, older generation and individualistic subjects relatively preferred text style than other style.

Perceptions of Successful Aging and Preparations for the Later Life Among the Baby Boom Cohort (베이비붐 세대의 성공적 노화 인식과 노후 준비에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the factors affecting perceptions of successful aging and preparations for the later life among the baby boom cohort. The subject of survey is the baby boomer(from 1955 to 1963) and it was done from May 1 to September 15 in 2016. 814 self-reported questionnaires were used for final analysis by SPSS WIN18. The major results of this study were as follows: First, there were differences in the perception of successful aging by education level, subjective awareness of economic status, subjective awareness of health condition, marriage status. Second, there were differences in the preparations for the later life by education level, job, subjective awareness of economic status, subjective awareness of health condition. Third, The higher perception of successful aging was deserved to significantly affect preparations for the later life.

Growth Characteristics of Leptochela gracilis in the Coastal water near Kanghwa Island, Korea (강화도 연안 돛대 기새우 (Leptochela gracilis)의 성장에 관한 연구)

  • Present study was performed to describe the growth of Leptochela gracilis (STIMPSON, 1860), the dominant species of the coastal water near Kanghwa Island, Korea. Samples were collected from 1 sampling point by long bag seine net at monthly interval from April 1993 to January 1994 except for August 1993. In the population study of Leptochela gracilis, ovigerous female has appeared from April to September 1993 and the ratio (egg-bearing female/female) showed over 70% from May to July 1993. Female individuals were predominant from May 1993 to January 1994 and it was found that sex ratios were not significantly different between pregnant and non-pregnant period(p>0.05). The population of Leptochela gracilis was divided into 2 types of generation; i) short term generation. and ii) long term generation. Longevity of the long term generation was presumed to vary from 12 to 15 months. In the case of short term generation, spawned by egg-bearing stock of September, however, it was not certain whether they absorbed in the long term generation, thus overcome winter season or die after December by environment factors. The growth in cavalcade length of the long term generation was better fitted to Pauly and Gaschutz model than Von Bertalanffy.

A Comparative Study by Service Type and Generation on the Factors Affecting the Intention to Use Vehicle Mobility Service (차량 모빌리티 서비스 사용의도의 영향요인에 대한 서비스 종류별, 세대별 비교 연구)

  • Mobility service is a service that connects consumers and suppliers of transportation using information and communication technology (ICT), and aims to reduce inconvenience to users in the current transportation system and increase environmental sustainability. Recently, the use of mobility services is gradually increasing, and interest in it from academia and industry is growing. This study derives key influencing factors related to the increase in intention to use vehicle mobility services, and comparatively analyzes the influences between groups by service type (car-hailing vs. car-sharing services) and by generation (generation MZ vs. generation X). As a result of the comparative study, there were differences in user benefits between service type groups, and differences in user benefits and attitudes toward mobility platforms between generation groups. Through this comparative study, the main factors affecting the increase in the intention to use the vehicle mobility service by generation and service type and their differences were identified. This study provides implications to consider in terms of knowledge management for activating vehicle mobility services according to the major target users and service types.

Generational Relationship of the Middle Aged to the Elderly Parents and Their Attitudes on Old-Age Security (중년층과 노부모의 세대관계와 중년층의 노후부양관)

  • 이 논문의 목적은 현재 40-50대의 중년층과 노부모 사이에 이루어지는 세대관계의 심층적 구조를 밝히고, 이 구조에 영향을 미치는 제반요인들을 설명하는데 있다. 그리고 세대관계의 유형에 따라 중년층 자신의 노후부양태도와 노후생활에 대한 대책행위가 어떻게 달라지는가를 분석하였다. 이 연구를 위해 구조화된 질문지를 활용하는 전국전인 면접조사가 이루어졌다. 이 논문은 중년층과 노부모의 세대관계를 세대간 근접성, 지원가능, 그리고 노부모 부양관 에 따라 다섯 가지 유형으로 분류하였다. 중년층의 지배적인 세대관계는 노부모와 별거하면서 지원기능을 유지하는 형태로 나타났다. 별거사항에서 이루어지는 지원관계에는 중년층의 사회 계층적 지위나 노부모와의 정서적 연대와 관련된 요인들이 중요하게 작용하는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 중년층 자신의 노후생활에 대한 부양관과 노후대책 행위는 세대관계의 유형에 따라 유의미한 차이가 존재한다. 근접성, 지원관계, 노부모 부양관 모두에서 전통적인 세대관계를 유지하는 중년층은 자신의 노후생활에 대해서도 가족의 부양을 강조하며, 독립적인 노후대책을 마련하는데 소극적이다. 반면, 노부모와 동거하고 지원기능을 유지하더라도 노부모부양관이 약한 증년층은, 자신의 노후 생활에 대하여 독립성을 강조하고, 스스로 노후대책을 마련하는데 적극적인 것으로 확인되었다.

A Study of the Generational Cleavage in Welfare Attitudes: Differentiating Cohort Effect from Age Effect and Finding Its Factors (복지태도의 세대 간 균열 연구: 연령효과와 분리된 코호트 효과와 그 요인의 분석)

  • It is attempted here to explain change in welfare attitudes for two decades in 10 countries with the cohort effect, especially differences in societal values between generations. It was found that for the last 20 years pro-welfare attitudes of the public has been strengthened, on which the generation has impact, more by the cohort effect than by the age effect, and that the Millennials/Y-generation are the strongest supporters for the state welfare. Value-differences between cohorts, as a background factor for the cohort effect on welfare attitudes, are clear but show a kind of linear trend from the older to the younger cohorts. As for the cohort effect on welfare attitudes, it is expected, at least for the short-term future, in the direction toward supporting the expansion of the state welfare. Korean welfare attitudes show an exceptional pattern - preferring income inequality as incentives, and at the same time, the expansion of governmental welfare responsibility, which echoes recent arguments of contradictoriness and non-class-orientedness of Korean welfare attitudes. Especially, Korean Millennials/Y-G shows this contradictory welfare attitudes the most strongly, which is unique between 10 countries in this study, implying their fierce competition is being internalized. It is expected that the contradictoriness of Korean welfare attitudes may limit its possibility to back up welfare expansion in Korea.

A Comparative Study of Domestic Travel Patterns and Determinant Factors Affecting Satisfaction by Generations (대한민국 국민의 세대별 국내여행 방식 및 만족도 영향요인)

  • While South Koreans overseas travelling rate has been increased every year, domestic travelling rate has been at a standstill for several years. The purpose of this study is to analyze domestic traveling styles of Koreans according to their generations in order to provide generation-specific traveling services. For this purpose, we categorized the survey respondents into four different generations, which are Millennium (age 19~34), X generation (35~54), Baby Boomer (55~64) and senior by following the criterions of the Korea National Tourism Organization. After then, we analyze factors related to travel preparation process, the actual traveling activities and satisfaction after the travel. In this study, 16,713 data collected by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism are used. The results of this study show that Korean people tends to acquire domestic traveling information from their own or acquaintances past experiences. Also, they do not prefer the organized trip for domestic travels, thus do not buy package products a lot. In addition, natural scenery, rich in cultural heritage, and convenient accommodation are the most important determinant factors affecting the overall travel satisfaction of level for all generations. The traveling characteristics for each generation are as follows. Millennium get traveling information from the internet a lot, and more specifically, they refer portal sites and social network services (SNS) in many cases. Also, they tend to travel in summer peak season to popular destinations and pursues active traveling experiences. Generation X has similar traveling patterns with Millennium, however they major transportation method is using their own car. Also, transportation convenience and satisfactory leisure activity are important factors affecting the overall satisfaction level to Generation X. On the other hand, Baby boomer generation has a greater emphasis on appreciation of nature, visiting famous restaurants, and relaxation, rather than actively participating experiencing programs. They travel evenly in summer and spring/fall season to many different areas instead of focusing on popular tourist spots. In addition, shopping and eating delicious food are the important factors affecting the overall satisfaction level for them. Lastly, Senior generation has similar characteristics with Baby boomer in many ways, however, they travel a lot on the same day using public transportations or car rental service. They prefer spring and autumn trips rather than summer peak season, and tend to buy packaged travel products a lot compared with other generations. If these different traveling characteristics of each generation are considered for organizing and customizing tourism services, it is expected that domestic tourism satisfaction level will be ultimately increased.

Fertility Differentials by Demographic and Socioeconomic Characteristics: Analysis of Korean Population Census Data (인구 및 사회경제적 차별출산력 - 인구센서스 자료분석을 중심으로)

  • 본 연구는 한국 기혼여성의 차별출산력 분석으로 인구학적 특성으로 연령, 초혼연령, 혼인상태 및 가족유형(가구구성)을 포함하구 사회경제적 특성으로 거주지역, 교육정도, 경제활동상태, 직업 및 주택 점유형태를 포함하였다. 통계청의 인구주택총조사를 원자료로 하여 인구 및 사회경제적 변인들이 출산력에 미친 영향을 파악하기 위하여 다변량 분석기법을 이용하였다. 초혼연령이 높아지면서 출산수준은 현저히 낮아졌으며, 배우자와 동거하는 기혼부인의 출생아수가 가장 많았으며, 이혼한 경우 가장 적었다. 자녀양육을 위한 부모의 도움을 받을 수 있는 3세대 이상 가족이 동거하는 가구의 경우 출산수준이 상대적으로 높았다. 그러나 최근 이혼이 급증하면서 유배우 상태가 빠르게 감소하구 1세대나 독신가구의 증가와 3세대 이상 가구의 감소는 앞으로의 출산수준을 더욱 빠르게 할 것이다. 사회경제적 특성별 차이에서도 유사한 현상을 발견할 수 있었다. 도시규모가 클수록, 학력수준이 높을수록, 전문사무직종에 근무할 경우, 그리고 전월세로 거주할 경우에 출산수준이 낮았다. 사회경제적 특성별 출생아수의 차이는 1980년에 가장 컸으며, 그 후 지속적으로 감소하고 있다. 더욱이 출산수준이 높은 농촌인구의 급감, 교육수준의 향상으로 교육간 차이의 감소 농어업직에 종사하는 기혼여성의 감소 등은 전체적인 출산수준을 빠르게 감소시키는 요인으로 작용하였다. 기혼부인의 특성별 출생아수의 차이는 여전히 뚜렷하였으나 그 차이는 점차 감소하고 있다. 또한, 출생아수가 많은 집단의 구성비가 빠르게 줄어드는 것을 감안하면 전체적인 출산수준의 감소는 더욱 빨라질 수 있다. 앞으로 2005년 인구주택총조사의 결과가 발표될 때 그 간의 특성별 출생아수의 차이와 인구구성비의 변화를 분석하면 대체출산수준에 근접한 1980년 이후 빠른 출산력의 감소원인을 이해하고 출산력의 장래 변화를 효과적으로 예측하는데 도움이 될 것이다.

Consciousness of Filial Piety and Family Values in College Students (대학생의 효에 대한 인식과 가족가치관에 영향을 미치는 변인)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the differences of gender on consciousness of filial piety in undergraduates. The researched were 155 male and 176 female students in Daegu. The major findings of this study were as follows. : First, there were significant differences in the consciousness of filial piety according to student's gender. there were significant differences in the reason of filial piety according to student's gender. there were significant differences in the family values according to student's gender. Finally, the variables influencing college students' family values were gender, awareness of emotion supporting, financial supporting, physical supporting, and attachment with their parents.

The Social Psychological Meaning of Occupation-related Identities among Generations (세대에 따른 직업 관련 사회정체성의 사회심리학적 의미)

  • This study initiated with the intention to reveal the social consultations and fissures through a comparative analysis on generational characteristics by indicating occupation-related identities with the concept of social identity supported by theoretical resources. According to the three dimensions of social identity which are evaluation, potency and activity, there was more generational agreement rather than difference toward occupation-related identities. Among the 44 identities, only evaluation dimensions on minister, congressman, plane captain, farmer and potency dimensions on CEO of a major companies, professor, medical doctor, nurse, celebrity, shaman, unemployed person were statistically significant. For 'Leader and Professional', the respondents in their 50's gave high scores in both evaluation and potency dimensions. On the other side, the 30's had negative viewpoints while the 20's and 40's had neutral perspectives. For the potency dimension, the age groups were divided into the 20's, 30's and 40's, 50's; having the younger generations underestimate the potency dimension of such categories. Also for the 'General Occupation', 20's and the 30's relatively devaluated with more distinctive degree toward evaluation dimensions. For religion, 20's and 30's were positive toward buddhist monks while the 40's and 50's were more favorable with priests. For the non-economically active population, the lifetime cycle influenced each generations. When performing a two dimensional analysis toward the 'Leader and Professional' with evaluation and potency on each axis, the 50's highly evaluated both evaluation and potency dimension of such identities. However, for the 40's, 30's and 20's, the average value fell while the focus of the distribution deepened. The 30's had negative perspective toward the evaluation dimension while the 20's reflected critical attitude toward the potency dimension.
