Korean Nurses' Judgments of Child Sexual Abuse Situations: The Use of Vignettes (아동 성폭력 상황에 대한 한국 간호사의 판단)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 아동 성폭력 상황 자체와 성폭력 가해자에 대한 간호사의 태도가 상황 판단에 미치는 영향을 규명하는데 초점을 둔다. 503명의 병원 간호사와 526명의 보건교사를 대상으로 vignette 디자인 설문조사를 실시하였다. 아동성폭력 상황 vignettes은 7가지의 특성 (성폭력 행위, 성폭력 빈도, 피해자의 연령, 피해자의 저항, 가해자의 연령, 가해자와 피해자의 교차성별, 가해자와 피해자와의 관계)을 조합하여 구성하였다. 1/4 factorial design의 결과로서 64개의 vignettes 이 도출되었으며 이 중 16개 vignettes을 무작위로 추출하여 그 vignettes에 나타난 각 성폭력 상황들의 심각정도를 표시하도록 하였다. 성폭력 가해자에 대한 문항들은 1) 가해자가 아동 성폭력을 하는 이유 2) 전형적인 성폭력 가해자3) 아동성폭력 가해자의 처벌방법에 관한 간호사의 태도를 묻는 것이었다. 자료분석은 Logistic Regression을 실시하였다. 연구결과에서 간호사들은 아동 성폭력 상황의 심각도를 판단할 때 주로 성폭력 상황에 의해 영향을 받고 아동 성폭력 가해자에 대한 개인적 태도는 거의 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났으며, 아동 성폭력 상황 특성 중 피해자의 저항, 성폭력 행위, 성폭력 빈도, 가해자의 연령, 가해자와 피해자의 교차성별 순으로 아동 성폭력상황의 심각도에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 결론적으로, 간호사들은 아동 성폭력 상황에 직면하여 사례를 판단할 때 아동 성폭력 문제에 대한 개인의 태도에 영향을 받기보다는 사례 그 자체에 근거를 두고 판단하는 경향을 나타낸다. 본 연구 결과는 법적, 전문가적 의미에서 아동성폭력 신고자로서의 의무와 사례중재에 개입된 의료인으로서의 역할 수행에 긍정적인 면을 시사한다.

The impact college students' sexual assault awareness has on the sexual assault experience :Mediating effects of the sexual violence allowance scale (대학생의 성폭력 인식도가 성폭력 피해경험에 미치는 영향 : 성폭력 허용도의 매개효과)

  • The aim of this study was to verify the effect of the parameters in relation to college students' awareness of sexual assault and sexual violence experience. The subjects were 408 male and female college students attending four universities located in Jeju island. Sexual assault awareness measures, sexual violence experience scale, and the scale of sexual violence allowance scale were used in the questionnaires. First, correlation analysis showed a significant negative correlation between sexual violence awareness and sexual violence. Also, sexual violence awareness and sexual violence allowance scale showed a considerable negative correlation. This suggests that the higher the sexual assault awareness, the lower the sexual damage and sexual violence allowance scale. Second, after analyzing the division of the subject into research model and competition model to verify the mediation effect in relationship of the sexual violence awareness and sexual violence experience, it was clear that sexual awareness does not have a direct effect on the experience of sexual damage. It rather mediated the sexual violence allowance scale. Therefore, the research model, which is the full mediation model, was selected. In other words, sexual assault awareness appeared to fully mediate the relationship between sexual assault awareness and sexual assault experience. This means that sexual assault perception has an indirect influence through sexual assault allowance rather than a direct effect on the sexual assault experience. Thus, the more well established that sexual assault awareness is, the lower the sexual assault allowance scale. Finally, the lowered sexual assault allowance scale could reduce the sexual assault harm. To improve the sexual assault recognition, a systematic sexual violence prevention education should be conducted. Sexual assault prevention education would allow students in dating relationships to become mature in their human rights and maintain the proper emotional relationship and enable a reduction in the harm sexual assault as a result of giving them the consideration. Finally, this study had a limitation in selecting the subjects as the college students living in Jeju. Therefore, in order to compensate for this limitation, follow-up studies should be carried out on with a sample of generalized and various research subjects.

Korean Nurses' Perceptions of the Seriousness of Child Sexual Abuse: A Comparison of School and Hospital Nurses (한국 간호사의 아동성폭력 상황에 대한 심각성 인식: 양호교사와 병원간호사의 인식 비교)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 아동성폭력의 정의에 대한 한국간호사들의 인식의 특성을 알아보는 것이다. 보다 구체적으로, 양호교사와 병원간호사 간의 인식의 일치정도를 밝히고, 간호사들이 아동성폭력의 심각도를 판단함에 있어, 아동성폭력과 관련된 다양한 변수들의 상대적 중요성을 규명하는데 초점을 두고 있다. 이를 위하여 503명의 병원 간호사와 526명의 양호교사를 대상으로 한 vignette디자인 설문조사를 실시하였다. 아동성폭력 상황을 구성하는 일곱 개의 변수 (성폭력 행위 성폭력 빈도, 피해자의 연령, 피해자의 저항, 가해자의 연령, 가해자와 피해자의 교차성별, 가해자와 피해자의 관계)의 조합을 통해 64개의 vignettes를 만들었는데, 이는 1/4 factorial 디자인의 결과이다. 각 설문 대상자에 대해 64개의 vignettes가운데 16개의 vignettes를 무작위로 추출하고, 그 vignettes에 나타난 각 성폭력상황들의 심각 정도를 표시하도록 하였다. 연구결과에서 양호교사와 병원간호사는 아동성폭력의 심각도 인식에 있어 일치를 나타냈다. 각 상황변수들이 미치는 영향에 있어서는 양호교사와 병원간호사 간에 다소 차이를 보였으나, 성폭력 상황을 정의함에 있어서는 근본적인 인식에 일치를 보였다 두 집단 모두에서 성폭력행위 피해자의 저항, 가해자와 피해자의 교차성별, 성폭력 빈도, 가해자의 연령이 아동성폭력 인식에 영향하는 주요 요인으로 나타났다 한편, 가해자와 피해자의 관계는 주요 영향요인이 아닌 것으로 나타났다. 피해자의 연령은 양호교사 집단에서는 어느 정도 영향을 미치는 변수로, 병원간호사 집단에서는 별다른 영향이 없는 변수로 분석되었다. 결론적으로, 양호교사와 병원간호사는 잠재되어 있는 아동성폭력의 심각도에 대해 동일하게 판단한다. 본 연구결과는 법적, 전문가적 의미에서 아동성폭력 신고자로서의 의무를 지닌 한국간호사들의 아동성폭력에 대한 인식일치가, 그 역할 수행에 도움이 될 수 있음을 시사한다.

A Study on the Concept and Cause of Sexual Abuse perceived by Adolescents (청소년의 성폭력 개념 및 원인에 대한 인식 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to provide practical information which can prevent adolescents from sexual derailment by identifying their perception of sexual abuse. A total of 694 middle and high school students were asked to complete a questionnaire consisting of 28 items about the concept and cause of sexual abuse. The results of this study were as follows: 1. Three types(physical. verbal. and psychological) were perceived in the concept of sexual abuse. Among the three types. physical type was most seriously perceived as a concept of sexual abuse. followed by verbal and psychological abuse. Females perceived physical sexual abuse as a more serious type than males. High school students didn't perceive physical sexual abuse as serious as middle school students did. 2. Four types(social environment. victim. sexuality education and community role) were perceived in the cause of sexual abuse. Among the four causes. social environment was most seriously perceived as a cause of sexual abuse. followed by victim. sexuality education and community role. Females perceived social environment and community role as a more serious causes than males. There was no meaningful difference in the perception of the cause according to age.

Effect of Internet Environment and Gender on Online Sexual Violence. (사이버 성폭력에 대한 인터넷과 성의 영향)

  • This study set out to investigate the effect of internet environment and gender on online sexual violence. The final sample size was 436 college students in Gwangju city, South Korea. Hierarchical regression analysis was used for analysis. The major findings of this study are as follows. First, more frequent usage of internet influenced directly increase of online sexual violence, and influenced also indirectly through favorable attitudes to deviance. Third, gender did not influence online sexual violence directly, but influenced indirectly. Male students' more favorable attitude to deviance affected more frequent online sexual violence. These results suggest that internet environment play a role in facilitating online sexual violence through normalizing or justifying online sexual deviance. And gender also affect online sexual violence indirectly through male students' more favorable attitudes to deviance rather than female. And limitations and implications of this study were discussed with respect to further studies.

The Mediating Effect of permissiveness of Sexual violence on Correlation between College students' stereotypes of Gender role and Experience of Sexual Violence Ability : Surveying residing in Jeju (대학생의 성역할 고정관념과 성폭력피해경험과의 관계에서 성폭력 허용도의 매개효과 : 제주지역 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the mediating effects of permissiveness of sexual violence on the relationship between gender role stereotypes and experience of sexual violence. The survey for this study was administered to 408 (male, 127, female, 281) out of the 600 university students residing in Jeju with the inventory of gender role stereotypes and experience of sexual violence in (conjunction with the) permissiveness of sexual violence scale. The results of this study were as follows: First, as a result of the correlation analysis, gender role stereotypes and experience of sexual violence were positively correlated with permissiveness of sexual violence. Second, the relationship analysis by Structural Equation Modeling demonstrated that permissiveness of sexual violence completely mediated the relationship between stereotypes of gender role and experience of sexual violence. Permissiveness of sexual violence was the most significant factor giving rise to sexual violence in dating. In the investigation of the structure of the equation coefficients and path-mediated effects, the standardized path coefficients of influence in this study, viz. gender role stereotypes to permissiveness (29, p=.000) of sexual violence and permissiveness of sexual violence to the experience of sexual violence (42, p=.000), were found to have an impact. In an indirect effect on the effectiveness of the parameters showed in gender role stereotypes and experience of sexual violence (11, p=.01), direct effects were demonstrated from stereotypes of gender role to permissiveness of sexual violence (28, p=.000) and from permissiveness of sexual violence to experience of sexual violence (40, p=.000). In the end, this implies that gender role stereotypes does not influence permissiveness of sexual violence directly, but indirectly by mediating the experience of sexual violence. Therefore, the implication of this study is that gender role stereotypes and permissiveness of sexual violence need to be reduced, so that sexual violence can be prevented. In other words, a higher awareness of gender equality will lower permissiveness of sexual violence and this, in turn, will also prevent sexual violence.

A Study on the Recognition of Men and Women highschool student's sexual abuse (남녀고등학생의 성폭력 인식에 관한 연구)

  • Purpose of the study is to understand Men and Women highschool student's recognition of, attitude toward, and reaction to sexual violence in terms of men and women difference. The study data was collected from July 1st to 30th in 2013 from 563 highschool students in D city. SPSS 19.0 with percentage, real number and $x^2$_test is used to analyze the data. The result of the study is, the first, there is a significant difference in respondents' experience in sexual violence or harrassment. Secondly, different perspectives about including looking at the body insidiously, forcing lascivious writing or picture, sexual jokes, vulgar expression about appearance, or intentional body contacts in public transportation vehicles to the concept of sexual violence are found between boys and girls. Lastly, different recognitions, attitudes and reactions were produced according to the place and time of the sexual violence, victim-attacker relationship, the cause of the sexual violence, and attitude toward the victim when rescue.

Effect of the course order program of sexual violence offenders (성폭력행위자의 수강명령프로그램 효과)

  • The purpose of this research is to analysis the effectiveness of education in which sexual violence offenders participated in correctional program. The subjects of this study were men living in D city had completed 40 hours of correctional program implemented by the Ministry of Justice. For data collection, a pre-test before training and a post-test completion of training were conducted for those who participated in the program. Those who had aggression, impulsivity, rape myth and anger had a positive effect after the correctional program, but that program didn't help those with feelings of loneliness. This study analyzed the effectiveness of the education through pre and post tests of the Ministry of Justice's sexual violence program targeting sexual violence offenders, and it is significant in seeking ways to change their behavior accordingly. Therefore, this study will be effective in preventing the recurrence of sexual violence, and it will contribute as a data that can be used for the development of the correctional program for sexual violence offenders.

Analytical Research on the Actual Condition of Sexual Violence Among Athletes (운동선수 성폭력 실태 분석)

  • The purpose of the study was to provide policy implications based on the actual condition of athletes' experiences on sexual violence in sports. To achieve this purpose, all athletes except professionals, coaches, athlete's parents were targeted and finally a total of 2,041 respondents were selected. The main topics of this study were as follows. First, this study identified the actual condition of sexual harassment among athletes. Second, athlete's attitude on sexual violence was identified. Last, prevention of sexual violence was examined. This study will provide basic data to build up policies for the prevention of sexual violence. Therefore, it is important that solutions for the prevention of sexual violence must be multifaceted, including all stockholders.

Elementary School Teachers' Needs Assessments and Perceptions on School Education Program to Prevent Sexual Abuse to Children (아동 대상 성폭력 예방교육에 대한 초등 교사들의 요구 및 인식)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyse the needs and recognitions of education to prevent children sexual abuse and to suggest the basic data for school prevent education program. For this purpose 1210 primary school teachers were suggested in Korea and finally 973 questionnaires were analysed. The results are as follows; First, fur the needs of education contents for children,'the reaction skills to crisis situation of sexual abuse' was most needed, and 'the types and cases of sexual abuse' and 'the legal regulations' were lowest. Second, for the recognitions of education forms for children, teachers thought the proper form that professional instructors outside school related sexual abuse in special education type, $1\sim2$ times per semester, to all years of children and parents. Third, the education contents and forms to prevent sexual abuse to children were significantly different by age, gender, carrier years, area for work, related training experience. Fourth, the retraining program chances for teachers and prevent education program for children using the National Common Basic Curriculum needs to be broad.
