Two experiments were conducted to explore the implicit representation of gender-stereotype using primed naming task for prime-target pairs. In Experiment 1, Participants were presented gender's attributes as primes at SOA 250ms and were asked to pronounce person's names which differed in typicality and preference of gender's attributes. The results showed that gender congruent effects was not found, but typicality effects and interactions were found. In Experiment 2, Participants were presented gender's attributes as primes at SOA 250ms and were asked to pronounce gender's attributes which differed in typicality of gender's attributes. The results showed that woman's attributes superiority effects were found, but typicality effects were not. These results were discussed from a point of view of graded representation of gender stereotype and asymmetrical processing of gender stereotype to priming conditions in the implicit level.
This study set out to investigate factors affecting gender-role stereotype. Data came from National Welfare Panel Study of 2010 and the final sample size were 4,196 women and 3,703 men in Korea. Hierarchical regression analysis was used for the analysis. The major findings of this study are as follows. First, the olders, the married and the lower level of income showed more traditional gender-role attitudes. Second, the employed women have more egalitarian gender-role attitudes than the not-employed but the employed men showed more traditional gender-role attitudes. And the more educated women showed more egalitarian gender-role attitudes but men's gender-role attitudes had no difference according to the education level. Third, self-esteem did not affect gender-role attitudes. And limitations and implications of the findings from this study were discussed with respect to further studies.
The notable findings are as follow: First, men show higher level of perceiving open marriage, sex-role, acceptance of extra-marital relationship and intention of extra-marital sex than that of women. Second, the effects of men's perception of sex-role and open marriage, and the acceptance of extra-marital relationship have direct effects on their intention of extra-marital sex. The acceptance of extra-marital relationship shows the mediation effect on the path between that of open marriage and extra-marital sex among men. However, men's perception of sex-role does not affect the acceptance of extra-marital relationship. Lastly, women's perception of sex-role and open marriage, and the acceptance of extra-marital relationship directly influence the intention of extra-marital sex each, including the mediating effect of accepting extra-marital relationship between that of open marriage and extra-marital sex which are similar to the men's trend. Women's perception of sex-role show the direct effect on the acceptance of extra-marital relationship unlike man's trend. Therefore, the fact demonstrates that the effect of perceiving of sex-role on the intention of extra-marital sex is different according to gender. Some practical and political implications are discussed based on the study's findings.
This study was conducted to explore the implicit structure of gender-stereotype which is one of the social categories. Social categories were considered to have the more evaluative properties and unclear hierarchical representations compared to the objects or the action categories. In this series of experiments. we want to examine the generalizability of the congruent effect into gender-stereotype using a priming paradigm and introducing the various SOA (stimulus onset asynchrony. SOA 250ms to 1000ms). The results of Experiment 1 and 3 (SOA 250-500ms) showed that the priming effects of female-female condition was larger than the other conditions. However. Experiment 2 (SOA 1000ms) showed that the priming effects among the conditions disappeared. We found the female-congruent effects only in a short SOA. These results suggest the possibility that the gender-stereotype in the automatic and implicit processing level can be represented b by the cross-categorical structure in some cultural area.
The purpose of this study was to examine stereotype of gender role in music video, comparing of gender image, sexuality(body exposure & sexual expression) by genre and gender difference. A content analysis of 300 songs and 517 characters was conducted between 2004 and 2013. Results were including followings. While women engaged in classic image, man engaged in naive image. R&B and Ballad demonstrated more classic image of women. Ballad, R&B, and Rock demonstrated more naive image of men than other genre. Sexuality was more prominent in dance and hip-hop genre. Compared to male character, female character was more sexually objectified, held to exposer herself and more likely to demonstrated sexually alluring behavior.
This study is about university students' perception of intergenerational communication and its affecting factors. Based on literatures on intergenerational communication, the effect of stereotype on intergenerational satisfaction was testified and the mediating role of intergroup anxiety and the moderating role of communication competence were also analysed. Results showed that the effect of stereotype was mediated by intergroup anxiety, and the paths were different depending on the gender and communication competence. In the case of the male student group and the group with high communication ability, stereotypes affected intergroup anxiety, but intergroup anxiety did not directly affect intergenerational communication satisfaction. On the other hand, in the case of the female student group and the group with low communication skills, intergroup anxiety had significant effect on communication satisfaction. Also, it was found that the content of stereotype had an important effect on intergenerational communication satisfaction.
In this study, the illustrations of 27 middle school science textbooks developed under the 2007 Revised National Curriculum were analyzed in the aspect of gender-role stereotyping, and the results were compared with those of the 7th National Curriculum. The types of the illustrations were classified, and the frequencies of pupils and adults who appeared on the illustrations were counted by gender, and the types of activities and the character of them were also analyzed by gender. In all results of the analyses, the differences between male and female decreased in comparison with those of the 7th National Curriculum. More male pupils appeared in the illustrations than female pupils. The frequencies of learning activities were balanced by gender, but other activities were described as focusing on male pupils. The frequencies of male adults outnumbered female adults. While the ratio of female adults was high in houseworks, that of male adults was high in outdoor activities. The jobs of adults were also illustrated as male-centered. Most pupils and adults were found to be active. Both ratios of pupils and adults for each gender were relatively similar.

This study analyzed illustrations presented in middle school science 14 paper textbooks and 14 digital textbooks under the 2015 revised curriculum in terms of gender stereotypes. In both paper and digital textbooks, the most common type of illustration was multiple pupils. For pupils, the frequency of gender was balanced in both paper and digital textbooks. However, there were differences among publishers in digital textbooks. In both paper and digital textbooks, girls showed a higher frequency than boys in learning activities. However, the opposite tendency was observed in non-learning activities. In particular, non-learning activities of digital textbooks showed gender imbalance among all publishers. In both paper and digital textbooks, behavioral characteristics were mostly described to be active without gender differences. But, there were differences among publishers in digital textbooks. For adults, men showed a higher frequency than women in both paper and digital textbooks. Gender frequency was balanced in family activities, however, men showed a higher frequency in social activities. Unlike paper textbooks, digital textbooks were gender balanced in occupational activities. In both paper and digital textbooks, the number of occupations in which men appeared more frequently was higher than that in which women appeared more frequently. Especially, men showed a higher frequency than women in both scientist and researcher. Behavioral characteristics were mostly biased in terms of gender in both paper and digital textbooks.
