A Prompt Handoff Using Data Link Layer Information on Wireless Networks (무선망에서 데이터 링크 계층의 정보를 이용한 빠른 핸드오프)

  • Mobile IP를 기반으로 하는 무선 네트워크의 개념이 확장됨에 따라 Mobile IP의 중요성이 더욱 부각되고 있다. 하지만 Mobile IP에서 수행되는 핸드오프는 심각한 성능 저하를 초래하고 있으며, 이를 해결하려는 연구도 많이 진행되어 왔다. 그러나 기존의 연구들은 데이터 링크 계층의 특성을 전혀 고려하고 있지 않고 있기 때문에 핸드오프에 의한 문제들을 궁극적으로 해결하지는 못하고 있다. 본 논문은 데이터 링크 계층에서 수행되는 로밍 정보를 이용하여 Mobile IP가 핸드오프를 신속하게 처리하는 기법을 제시하고 이를 사용하여 성능 저하를 크게 막을 수 있음을 보인다.

  • 본 연구에서는 이동 컴퓨팅 환경에서 TCP프로토콜의 전송성능 저하요인을 분석하고 이에 따른 적응적인 정책을 수입해 효율적인 프로토콜을 제시한다. 이동 컴퓨팅환경에서 TCP 패킷을 크기에 따라 벌크데이터와 인터액티브데이터로 나누고, 무선링크의 상태에 따라 안전 상태와 위험 상태로 나누어 각각의 특성을 고려한 TCP의 전송성능 향상방법을 제시하였다. 본 연구에서 제안된 정책은 모의 실험 환경을 통해 성능향상을 검증했으며, 실제 이동 컴퓨터환경에서 무선 네트워크와 유선 네트워크사이의 중간 호스트인 기지국에 적용시킬수 있다.

Analysis on the Active/Inactive Status of Computational Resources for Improving the Performance of the GPU (GPU 성능 저하 해결을 위한 내부 자원 활용/비활용 상태 분석)

  • In recent high performance computing system, GPGPU has been widely used to process general-purpose applications as well as graphics applications, since GPU can provide optimized computational resources for massive parallel processing. Unfortunately, GPGPU doesn't exploit computational resources on GPU in executing general-purpose applications fully, because the applications cannot be optimized to GPU architecture. Therefore, we provide GPU research guideline to improve the performance of computing systems using GPGPU. To accomplish this, we analyze the negative factors on GPU performance. In this paper, in order to clearly classify the cause of the negative factors on GPU performance, GPU core status are defined into 5 status: fully active status, partial active status, idle status, memory stall status and GPU core stall status. All status except fully active status cause performance degradation. We evaluate the ratio of each GPU core status depending on the characteristics of benchmarks to find specific reasons which degrade the performance of GPU. According to our simulation results, partial active status, idle status, memory stall status and GPU core stall status are induced by computational resource underutilization problem, low parallelism, high memory requests, and structural hazard, respectively.

Design of MPTCP Congestion Control based on BW measurement for Wireless Networks (무선 환경에서 MPTCP 성능 개선을 위한 대역폭 측정 기반 혼잡 제어 설계)

  • In wireless networks, the packet loss due to the bit error is misinterpreted as loss due to the congestion state, so TCP congestion control occurs frequently and performance degradation occurs. This degradation also occurs in MPTCP(Multipath TCP), which is an extension protocol of original TCP. In MPTCP, the overall performance of the multipath is degraded. In this paper, we propose a congestion control scheme which measures the bandwidth on each path of MPTCP and reduces the congestion window size by the measured bandwidth when packet loss occurs, in order to solve the MPTCP performance degradation in the wireless environment. We also implemented the proposed congestion control in the Linux kernel and compared it with the original MPTCP in the testbed and real wireless networks. Experimental results show that the proposed congestion control has better throughput performance than original MPTCP congestion control in the wireless environment.

  • 태양광발전시스템에서 PV모듈이나 어레이의 성능특성 및 성능추정이 요구되고 있다. 태양광 발전 모듈은 장기간 사용 시 환경 요인 등으로 효율이 나빠지며 어레이의 특정 모듈 효율저하는 전체 발전 전력의 감소를 초래하므로 실시간 감시가 필요하다. 이 논문은 태양광 발전 모듈의 발전 전력을 실시간으로 측정하기 위한 것이다. 모듈의 출력을 실시간으로 측정하기 위해 전압, 전류 측정 회로를 제작하고 온도, 일조량 측정 장치를 제작하여 RS485 통신으로 연결하였다. Visual Studio - Basic .Net(2005)과 NI사의 Measurement Studio를 이용하여 실시간 모니터링 프로그램을 제작하였고, 모듈들 사이의 상대적인 발전 출력을 비교하여 효율 저하가 의심되는 모듈을 실시간으로 탐색하였다. 20개 모듈의 직병렬로 구성된 1kW 태양광 발전체에 적용하여 시험한 결과 2개의 모듈에서 성능 저하가 의심되는 결과가 확인되었다.

Concrete Deterioration Near Coastal Area and Characteristics of Associated Secondary Mineral Formation (해안지역 콘크리트의 성능저하 현상과 이에 수반되는 이차광물의 형성 특징)

  • Various deleterious chemicals can be introduced to existing concrete structures from various external sources. The deterioration of concrete by seawater attack is involved in complex processes due to various elements contained in seawater. In the present study, attention was paid to the formation of secondary minerals and characteristics of mineralogical and micro-structural changes involved in concrete deterioration caused by the influence of major seawater composition. The characteristics of deterioration occurred in existing concrete structures was carefully observed and samples were collected at many locations of coastal areas in Busan-Kyungnam. The petrographic, XRD, SEM/EDAX analyses were conducted to determine chemical, mineralogical and micro-structural changes in the aggregate and cement paste of samples. The experimental concrete deteriorations were performed using various chloride solutions (NaCl, CaCl, $MgCl_2$ and $Na_2SO_4$ solution. The experimental results were compared with the observation results in order to determine the effect of major elements in seawater on the deterioration. The alkalies in seawater appear to accelerate alkali-silica reaction (ASR). The gel formed by ASR is alkali-calcium-silica gel which known to cause severe expansion and cracking in concrete. Carbonation causes the formation of abundant less-cementitious calcite and weaken the cement paste. Progressive carbonation significantly affects on the composition and stability of some secondary minerals. Abundant gypsum generally occurs in concretes subjected to significant carbonation, but thaumasite ({$Ca_6/[Si(OH)_6]_2{\cdot}24H_2O$}${\cdot}[(SO_4)_2]{\cdot}[(CO_3))2]$) occurs as ettringite-thaumasite solid solution in concretes subjected to less significant carbonation. Experimentally, ettringite can be transformed to trichloroaluminate or decomposed by chloride ingress under controlled pH conditions. Mg ions in seawater cause cement paste deterioration by forming non-cementitious brucite and magnesium silicate hydrate (MSH).

  • 긴 수명, 높은 효율, 색 재현성 및 친화경등의 많은 장점을 가진 발광다이오드는 높은 접합온도로 인하여 광 효율이 저하되고 이는 신뢰성 저하 및 방열부 장착으로 인한 비용 상승 등의 문제로 발전에 악영향을 받고 있다. 본 논문에서는 방열부인 HeatSink의 구조적 변화가 방열성능에 어떠한 영향을 끼치는지 알아보기 위해 열화상 적외선 카메라와 적분구를 이용하여 서로 다른 HeatSink를 가지고 각각의 열적 광학적 특성을 파악하였다. HeatSink의 Fin 길이를 길게 하여 방열면적을 상승시키는 것보다 Fin 두께를 작게 함으로써 Fin 개수를 늘리는 것이 방열성능을 크게 개선시킬 수 있었고 이는 광 출력으로 이어졌다.

Performance improvement of XCP-OFDM system using cross-handed circular polarization in frequency offset environments (주파수 오프셋 환경에서의 역선회 원편파를 이용한 XCP-OFDM 시스템의 성능 개선)

  • An OFDM system using cross-handed circular Polarization(XCP-OFDM) is newly proposed in his paper. The proposed XCP-OFDM system divides the subchannels into a right-handed circular polarization(RHP channel and a left-handed circular polarization(LHCP) channel that alternate each other. Therefore, the overlaps between subcarriers in XCP-OFDM system can be reduced to a great extend compared to the conventional OFDM system. By this reason, it can improve the orthogonality and reduce the inter-channel interference due to frequency offset. In this paper, it can be seen that the proposed XCP-OFDM system shows robust against frequency offset.

Structural Capacity of RC Beam Retrofitted by CFS with Bond Loss (탄소섬유로 휨보강된 RC 보의 부착 손실에 대한 거동 특성)

  • Recently, various strengthening methods using carbon fiber sheets (CFS) have been developed for the rehabilitation of structures and applied to the concrete member. However, still research need arises in order to verify the structural capacity of RC member which experienced bond loss between concrete and CFS after strengthening. This is because previous research has focused on the development of design process and evaluation of structural capacity only for retrofit. The appearance of this loss may be initiated at just after retrofit construction. And it will be more serious when the layer number of CFS increases. In order to minimize above mistake in retrofit design using CFS, more exact evaluation process to predict the bond loss of CFS is required. The objective of this research is to study the variation of flexural structural capacity of beam which has experienced bond loss after strengthening using CFS. Experimental and analytical study are performed and evaluation of the previous formula is conducted. Test result showed that the significant strength deterioration was not found until the bond loss of 20%. Overall structural behavior of the beams can be predicted by nonlinear sectional analysis.
