  • In this study, experimental test and numerical analysis were conducted to investigate the heat transfer characteristics and fiber performance of high strength concrete. The fire characteristics of the high strength concrete that couldn't be obtained through the test due to specific requirements and restrictions were forecast using numerical analysis approach. The outcome from the numerical analysis and the test were compared to verify and improve the reliability of the analysis. A numerical analysis of 80 and 100 MPa high strength concrete cases were carried out to identify the heat transfer characteristics and fire behavior using software, ABACUS (V6.8) From the results of verification experiment, a 25~55% level of beam shrinkage reduction was observed compared to the concrete without Fiber-Cocktail, indicating the improved fire resistance performance, which appeared to be attributable to the function of Fiber-Cocktail that was able to control the heat transfer characteristics and ultimately result in enhancing the fire resistance performance.

  • The effect of steel-fiber contents on the compressive behavior of ultra high performance cementitious composites (UHPCC) was studied to propose a compressive behavior model for UHPCC. The experiments considered fiber contents of 0~5 vol.% and the results indicated that compressive strength and corresponding strain as well as elastic modulus were improved as the fiber contents increased. Compared to the previous study results obtained from concrete with compressive strength of 100MPa or less, the reinforcement effect on strength showed similar tendency, while the effect on the strain and elastic modulus were much less. Strength, strain, and elastic modulus according to the fiber contents were presented as a linear function of fiber reinforcement index (RI). Fiber reinforcement in UHPCC had no influence on the shape of compressive behavioral curve. Considering its effect on compressive strength, strain, and elastic modulus, a compressive stress-strain relation for UHPCC was proposed.

  • Accordingly architectural structure is getting high-rise and bigger, a use of high strength and high performance concrete has been increased. High performance concrete has cons of explosion in a fire. This explosion in the fire can cause the loss of the sheath on a concrete surface, therefore it effects that increasing a rate of heat transmission between the steel bar and inner concrete. Preventing this explosion of high performance concrete in the fire, many kinds of researches are now in progressing. Typically, researches with using polypropylene-fiber and steel-fiber can prove controling the explosion, but the reduction of mobility was posed as a problem of workability. Consequently, to solve the problem as mentioned above, concrete cans secure fire resisting capacity through the using of coating liquid, including Ester-lubricant and non-ionic characteristic surfactant. This research has been drawn a ideal condition in compressive strength areas of concrete by an experiment. When applying 13mm of polyamide fiber, proper fiber mixing volume by compressive strength areas of concrete more than 2.5kg in 160MPa. These amount of a compound can control the explosion.

  • The purpose of this research is to secure fundamental data on the application of fibre as a fire resistance method for more than 60 MPa high-strength concrete through an examination of mechanical properties and fire resistance performance. The results are as follows: 1) When there are less than 0.5~1.0kg/$m^3$ contents of PP and NY fibre for 60MPa and less high strength concrete, 1.0kg/$m^3$ contents of PP and NY fibre for less than 80MPa high strength concrete and 1.5kg/$m^3$ contents of NY fibre for more than 80MPa high strength concrete, the effect of fibre contents on workability and strength development is not significant. 2) Based on the result of a 3-hour fire resistance test for mock-up column, it is necessary to secure 50 mm of covering depth for the regulation of fire resistance performance of high strength concrete to the standards of The Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs. 3) It is necessary to secure more than 400mm of column size for stable fire resistance performance.

  • Based on Model Code 2010, flexural and residual strength, flexural toughness of SFRC with design strength of 60 MPa are evaluated. For comparisons, SFRC with design strength 40 MPa was tested. Distribution of steel fibers in crack surface of specimens was evaluated by visual inspection. The used steel fibers were hooked fibers with aspect ratio of 64, 67 and 80. In all specimens, mix ratio of steel fibers was 0.5% Vol. In results, only SFRC with the highest aspect ratio satisfied requirements specified in Model Code 2010. The results demonstrated that the use of high aspect ratio will provide enough flexural toughness for high strength concrete. Also, it is found that low slump of high strength concrete can help to enhance isotropic fiber distribution.

  • In this paper, the flexural creep behavior of hooked-end steel fiber reinforced high-strength concrete was evaluated to investigate the steel fiber content influence on long-term behavior of flexural members. An experimental program consisted of nine prismatic beam specimens with dimensions of 150 × 150 × 600mm reinforced with different contents of steel fiber (0, 0.75 and 1.5% at the volume fraction). To introduce flexural creep loading to notched prismatic beam specimens, a four-point bending test setup was used. The sustained load with 40% of the flexural strength was applied by means of a lever system and controlled by a load cell for 90 days. During sustained loading, crack mouth opening displacement (CMOD) was monitored. Conventional flexural test after creep tests were carried out to evaluate the residual capacity of each specimen. Test results showed that steel fiber content has a significant effect on the flexural creep behavior of high-strength concrete and long-term flexural load with 40% of flexural strength doesn't generate negative effects on the residual capacity of steel fiber reinforced high-strength concrete.

  • In this study, material properties of steel fiber reinforced high strength concrete (FRHSC) with the compressive strength of about 120MPa were modeled. Steel fiber content of 1.0%, 1.5%, and 2.0% was considered as experimental variable. First of all, compressive strength tests were carried out to determine compressive characteristics of concrete, and compressive stress-strain curves were modeled. For conventional concrete with moderate compressive strength, the stress-strain curves are in the form of parabolic curves, but in the case of high strength concrete reinforced with steel fiber, the curves increase linearly in the form of the straight line. In addition, to understand the tensile properties of FRHSC, the crack mouth opening displacement (CMOD) test was performed, and the tensile stress-CMOD curve was calculated through inverse analysis. When the steel fiber content increased from 1.0% to 1.5%, there was a significant difference of tensile strength. However, when the amount of steel fiber was increased from 1.5% to 2.0%, there was no significant difference of tensile strength, which might result from the poor dispersion and arrangement of steel fiber in concrete.
