Recently, the frequency and magnitude of the earthquake have increased. The structural safety of the public facilities such as bridges and tunnels etc. which were not concerned for earthquake resistant design are increased. Fiber reinforcement polymer that has been frequently studied for seismic retrofit has advantage as seismic reinforcement material, but it has disadvantage of the brittleness. Therefore, the investigation of safety and seismic reinforcement are required. In this study, new FRP-ductile material layered composites proposed to seismic performance reinforced of subway tunnel. Tensile test of FRP-ductile material layered composites showed that Maximum tensile force of FRP-ductile using Aluminum is similar to existing FRP reinforcement material and maximum strain was increased. In case of application of domestic subway tunnel which need ductility, layered composites of FRP-Aluminum is estimated effectively for increase of seismic performance.

Recently the earthquake occurrences in Korea are likely to increase. Therefore, the facilities such as bridges and tunnels under the unexpected earthquakes need to be enhanced. Especially most of the subways previously built before 1988 have not been seismically designed, so their seismic safety requirements are required to be inspected and/or reinforced. In this study, the seismic reinforcement using FRP-ductile material layered composites was proposed to reinforce for the subway columns. Material properties of FRP-ductile material layered composites were calculated by laboratory tests considering the laminated conditions of the composites. Numerical simulations were performed using the experimental results of the specimens and the calculated properties of the composites. Seismic performance varied according to the types of composites: ductile material, number of layers, fiber orientations.

This study investigates influence of organic fiber reinforced materials, affecting crack reduction of cement mortar using low grade natural sand(LNS). According to the test, for the properties of fresh mortar, the mortar using natural sand(NS) exhibited that flow value increased until adding most of fiber less than 1$\%$, except for Polyvinly alchol fiber(PVA), and then it decreased. Meanwhile, the mortar mixed with LNS showed that increase of fiber content decrease flow value, regardless of fiber type. Air content increased in the mortar adding nylon fiber(NY) and polypropylene fiber(PP), while it maintained or decreased in the mortar adding cellulose fiber(CL) and PVA. Compressive strength of the mortar does not affect during early age, but mortar using NS and adding 0.1$\%$ of fiber content increased the value, except for PP, at 28 age days, while the mortar mixed with LNS decreased. For the properties of tensile strength, mortar, using NS and adding individually PP and PVA, exhibited higher value. Especially 0.1$\%$ of NY provided the highest value. In addition, the mortar mixed with LNS resulted in improved tensile value as fiber content increased. It is demonstrated that mortar using LNS led to higher length change ratio than natural sand.

The purpose of this study is to establish experimentally the mechanical properties of fiber reinforced concrete using kenaf dosages and propose the usable method of kenaf fiber in the concrete industry as natural fiber materials. Kenaf fiber help make the concrete strength including tensile and flexural stronger, more resistant to plastic and drying shrinkage, less amount of carbon dioxide because of having a rough surface and excellent tensile strength of fiber and improving the concrete's corrosion resistance. It is to select the kenaf dosages of 4 cases (0, 0.3, 0.6 and $0.9kg/m^3$ and perform various tests including slump, air content, plastic and drying shrinkage, flexural and tensile strength for fiber reinforced concrete. The results of this study are as follows : In case of increasing kenaf fiber dosages, show the slump decrease and air content increase, also take effect results for increasing concrete strength including flexural and tensile, decreasing plastic and drying shrinkage. therefore, considered test results and cost, the optimum dosages of kenaf fiber is proposed about $0.6kg/m^3$ and need to study on the site application considering concrete quality and another compared tests.

There is increasingly more research focusing on the application of FRP reinforcing bars as an alternative material for steel reinforcing bars, but most such research look at short term behavior of FRP reinforced structures. In this study, the microscopic analysis and tensile behavior of Basalt and Glass FRP bars under freezing-thawing and alkaline conditions were experimentally evaluated. After 100 cycles of the freezing and thawing, the tensile strength and elastic modulus of FRP bars decreased by about 5%. In the case of microstructure of FRP bars during the initial 20 days, no significant damages of FRP bar sections were found under $20^{\circ}C$ alkaline solution; however, the specimens immersed in $60^{\circ}C$ alkaline solution were found to experience resin dissolution, fiber damage and the separation of the resin-fiber interface. In the alkaline environment, the strength decrease of about 10% occurred in the environment at $20^{\circ}C$ for 100 days, but the tensile strength of FRPs exposed for 500 days decreased by 50%. At temperature of $40^{\circ}C$ and $60^{\circ}C$, an abrupt decrease in the strength was observed at 50 and 100 days. Especially, the tensile strength decrease of Basalt fiber Reinforced Polymer bars showed more severe degradation due to the damage caused by dissolution of resin matrix and fiber swelling in alkaline solution. Therefore, in order to improve the long-term performance of the surface braided FRPr reinforcing bars, surface treatment is required to ensure alkali resistance.
This paper presents the experimental results for the interfacial bond behaviour between AFRP strip and steel members. The objective of this paper is to examine the interfacial behavior and to evaluate the interfacial bond stress between Aramid FRP strips and steel plates. The test variables were bond length and AFRP thickness. 18 specimens were fabricated and one-face shear type bond tests were conducted in this study. There were two types of failure mode which were debonding and delamination between AFRP strip and steel plates. From the test, the load was increased with the increasing of bond length and AFRP thickness, which was observed that maximum increase of 63 and 86% were also achieved in load with the increasing of bond length and AFRP thickness, respectively. Finally, bond and slip characteristics had the elastic bond-slip model and it was observed that bond strength and fracture energy were not affected by bond length and AFRP thickness.

Experiment on flexural analysis of RC beams strengthened with composite material panel is presented. Recently, the strengthening of reinforced concrete structures using advanced fiber reinforced plastic (FRP) composites, and in particular the behavior of FRP-reinforced concrete structure is topic that has become very popular because of good corrosion resistance and easy for site handling due to their light weight. In this study, an efficient computational analysis using ABAQUS to predict the ultimate moment capacity of reinforced concrete beams strengthened with FRP is presented. Test parameters in this study are the shape of fiber arrangement (LT, DB, DBT) and the number of carbon fiber sheets (2ply, 3ply). When comparing with results of the analytical model, results of the experiments show similar values. Furthermore, reinforced concrete beam with FRP obtains improved effects for ultimate strength.

Recently FRP (Fiber Reinforcement Polymer) is widely used for the strengthening of damaged RC beams. Although many tests were carried out to verify flexural capacity of RC beams strengthened with FRP sheet or plate, the behavior of strengthened RC beams has not yet clearly verified. To investigate the strengthening efficiency of the Near Surface Mounted Reinforcement (NSMR) technique experimentally and analytically, a total of 7 specimens have been tested. The experimental results revealed that specimens strengthened with NSMR improved the flexural capacity of RC beams. Also, while the NSMR specimens utilized CFRP reinforcement efficiently compared to the EBR (Externally Bonded Reinforcement) specimen, the NSMR specimens still have debonding failure between epoxy and concrete interface. This study has proposed the model to predict failure modes and failure loads. Good agreement was obtained between the predicted and the experimental results.

The purpose of this study is to improve the problems in Umbrella Arch Method, such as the oxidation, the difficulties in installation and cutting of the steel pipe. The applicability of the high strength FRP (Fiber-Reinforced-Plastic) materials composed of glass fiber as a substitute of steel pipe was investigated in this study. The results of this study show that FRP material is better than steel pipe in work performance and the durability of material except for its price. From the numerical analysis with various types of FRP, it was evaluated that the equiangular curve type is more efficient than the flat type developed abroad, and the supporting effect of FRP-grout mixture is similar to that of steel-grout mixture in results of bending strength test.

The object of this paper is to study the flexural strengthening effectiveness on the construction method of bonding of the FRP. The existing FRP flexural strengthening methods were divided into FRP sheet strengthening and FRP plate strengthening according to the FRP condition. For improving the existing construction method, this paper proposed the velcro type anchorage system for temporary bonding material, and flexural strengthening effects were tested. Test variables were bonding methods of the FRP strengthening materials, and total 4 specimens were tested. Following to the test results, it is shown that FRP-plate strengthening method using the velcro can get better workability than existing construction methods, and have excellent strengthening performance including flexural strength, stiffness, ductility and failure aspect.
