The behaviors and design procedures of wale in innovative prestressed support(IPS) system are presented in this paper. Using the theory of the beam on elastic foundation, the member forces of the wale under initial pretension are evaluated. Choosing cable tensions as redundant forces, member forces subjected to earth pressure are calculated by the statically indeterminate analysis. The computer analysis model under uniform and non-uniform earth pressure is constructed using beam element for the IPS wale, tension-only element for cable, and compression-only element for soil. Axial forces and bending moments of IPS wale under initial pretension and design earth pressure are calculated. The combined stresses due to these axial force and bending moment are estimated to satisfy the design formula.

Sturge-Weber Syndrome is a rare congenital disorder and is characterized by port wine nevus following one or more divisions of trigeminal nerve, ocular involvement(eg, glaucoma) and neurologic involvement(eg, epilepsy, mental retardation). Oral menifestations include unilateral blood vessel expansion of the oral mucosa and gingiva, gingival hyperplasia, giant tooth, ipsilateral large tongue, blood vessel anomaly of maxilla or mandible and abnormal eruption sequence. This case report is about 8-year-old Sturge-Weber Syndrome patient presented violet discoloration on upper gingiva and buccal mucosa, gingival hyperplasia and abnormal eruption sequence. In this case, we performed lingual frenectomy and periodic oral hygiene management, and obtained satisfactory result.

Since western mathematics and astronomy had been introduced in Chosun dynasty in the 17th century, most of Chosun mathematicians studied Shu li jing yun(數理精蘊) for the western mathematics. In the last two decades of the 19th century, Chosun scholars have studied them which were introduced by Japanese text books and western missionaries. The former dealt mostly with elementary arithmetic and the latter established schools and taught mathematics. Lee Sang Seol(1870~1917) is well known in Korea as a Confucian scholar, government official, educator and foremost Korean independence movement activist in the 20th century. He was very eager to acquire western civilizations and studied them with the minister H. B. Hulbert(1863~1949). He wrote a mathematics book Su Ri(數理, 1898-1899) which has two parts. The first one deals with the linear part(線部) and geometry in Shu li jing yun and the second part with algebra. Using Su Ri, we investigate the process of transmission of western mathematics into Chosun in the century and show that Lee Sang Seol built a firm foundation for the study of algebra in Chosun.

The PCT that supports the walls of long span temporary shoring facility is previously manufactured in the way of prestressing, and it which is composed of concrete is improved precast structure to satisfy enough stiffness. The components of PCT are manufactured as a fixed form, and they are close to the inner side of the wall of temporary shoring facility by fixed means in PCT. PCT system as support structure is that the ends of concrete filled segment members are united by the means of connection and also they have connection hole. In this study, PCT has enough bearing power for the long span temporary shoring facility, and also make the term of work reduce due to that the time of curing reduce through the method of precast.
