  • 열방성 액정고분자 (Thermotropic liquid crystal polymer, TLCP)는 초고강도 섬유로의 응용가능성을 갖고 있어 많은 관심이 집중되고 있으며, 액정고분자의 고강도와 고탄성, 우수한 내열성과 내화학성, 가공시 성형수축률 및 선팽창계수가 작기 때문에 고성능 섬유 및 엔지니어링 플라스틱, 그리고 고분자 복합재료 등 다양한 분야에 응용되고 있다 [1]. 또한 범용성 열가소성 수지와 TLCP와의 용융블렌드는 고분자 복합재료의 강도 및 탄성의 향상뿐만 아니라 우수한 가공성 및 고성능 발현이 가능하기 때문에 현재 많은 연구가 진행되고 있다 [2].   • Effects of CuO addition on the sintering ability and the phase stability of Y-TZP. (Yttria doped Tetragonal Zirconia Polycrystals) were studied. The CuO dopants were found to be quite effective in reducing the sintering temperature to obtain full density and refining the grain size. The maximum allowable concentration of the dopants was limited to 0.3%mol% for CuO to maintain fully tetragonal phase. With the addition of these dopants, the flexual strength decreased by 20% in comparison with the undoped specimen but the fracture toughness increased by 15%.

  • 최근 에너지 소비구조의 선진화에 따라 전력수요는 매년 10%이상 증가하고 있지만 철탑부지확보 및 환경 문제 둥에 의해 신규 송전선의 건설은 점차 어려워지고 있다. 이에 대한 대책으로 철탑의 교체 없이 송전선의 전류용량간 증가시키는 방안이 우선적으로 고려되어 적용되고 있다. 이미 국내에서도 기존 송전선인 ACSR 전선을 중용량 저이도의 특성을 가진 STACIR/AW(Super Thermal-resistant Aluminum alloy Conductors, aluminum-clad Invar-Reinforced)송전선으로 교체하여 전력 수송량을 증가시키고 있다. STACIR/AW전선은 도체의 내열성을 향상시켜 연속허용온도$(210^{\circ}C)$를 높임으로 전류용량을 증가시키고, ACSR에 사용되는 강심재료인 고탄소강선을 선팽창계수가 낮은 인바강선(INVAR)으로 대체함으로 고온환경에 따른 이도증가를 방지하고 있다. 그러나 STACIR/AW 송전선은 ACSR 송전선에 비하여 연속허용온도가 높고 경간의 거리가 멀기 때문에 열화에 의한 피로특성의 변화 가능성이 높다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 증용량저이도전선의 강심소재인 INVAR/AW강선을 소정의 온도에서 경년 열화하고, 열화시간에 따른 강도와 피로특성의 변화를 조사하여, STACIR/AW전선의 안정적 운전을 위한 재료물성적 관리인자를 도출하고자 하였다.

Hydrogen Storage Technology by Using Porous Carbon Materials (다공성 탄소계 재료를 이용한 수소저장 기술)

  • The technologies for improving the capacity of hydrogen storage were investigated and the recent data of hydrogen storage by using various porous carbon materials were summarized. As the media of hydrogen storage, activated carbon, carbon nanotube, expanded graphite and activated carbon fiber were mainly investigated. The hydrogen storage in the carbon materials increased with controlled pore size about 0.6~0.7 nm. In case of catalyst, transition metal and their metal oxide were mainly applied on the surface of carbon materials by doping. Activated carbon is relatively cheap because of its production on a large scale. Carbon nanotube has a space inside and outside of tube for hydrogen storage. In case of graphite, the distance between layers can be extended by intercalation of alkali metals providing the space for hydrogen adsorption. Activated carbon fiber has the high specific surface area and micro pore volume which are useful for hydrogen storage. Above consideration of research, porous carbon materials still can be one of the promising materials for reaching the DOE target of hydrogen storage.

  • The glasses, which the $\beta$-spodumene as the principal crystalline phase could be precipitated, were melted by adding >, $P_2O_5, TiO_2, ZrO_2 in the Li_2O-Al_2O_3-SiO_2$ system. In order to achieve the glass-ceramic body of near-theoritical density by sintering method, the optimum condition of heat treatment, the effect of glass powder size and the properties were investigated by DTA, XRD, bulk density, thermal expansion and SEM. Addition of $P_20_5$ imProved the tendency of sintering and the sample with 9wt% $P_20_5$ content was the most dense OOdy by sintering method. The optimum condition of heat treatmemt was sintered for densitification at $740^{\circ}C$ and crystallized at $950^{\circ}C$. In the optimum condition, the relative density was above 90% and the thermal expansion was negative about $-1{\times}10^{-7}/^{\circ}C$.

  • HVPE(hydride vapor phase epitaxy)법을 이용하여 C(0001)면의 사파이어 기판위에 GaN 박막을 성장하였다. 110$0^{\circ}C$의 온도에서 박막의 성장률은 120$\mu\textrm{m}$/hr이었고, 사파이어 기판과 GaN사이의 격자상수와 열팽창계수차로 인하여 많은 크랙이 존재하였다. 두께가 20$\mu\textrm{m}$인 GaN의 (0002)면에 대한 X-선 회절피크의 반치폭은 576초 이었다. 10K의 온도에서 측정된 광루미네센스 스펙트럼에서는 강한 강도의 속박여기자에 의한 피크(I2)와 약한 강도의 도너-억셉터 쌍 사이의 재결합에 의한 피크가 나타났으며, 깊은 준위로부터의 발광은 검출되지 않았다. GaN 박막의 전기전도형은 n형 이었고, 전자이동도와 캐리어농도는 각각 72$\textrm{cm}^2$/V-sec와 6x1018cm-3이었다.

Long Term Monitoring of Prestressing Tension Force in Post-Tension UHPC Bridge using Fiber Optical FBG Sensor (FBG 광섬유센서가 내장된 7연 강연선을 이용한 포스트텐션 UHPC 교량의 긴장력 장기모니터링)

  • This paper presents results of one-year monitoring on prestressing force of a 7-wire steel post-tensioning strand which is installed in a UHPC(ultra high performance concrete) bridge with 11.0 m long, 5.0 m wide, and 0.6 m high by using a FBG-encapsulated 7-wire steel strand. The initial prestressing forces and the prestress changes during a vehicle load test were measured using the FBG-encapsulated strand. The results show that the FBG-encapsulated 7-wire strand is very effective for monitoring the prestress forces even the change in the tension force is very small. Additionally, it was indicated that selection of the thermal expansion coefficient which is used for the temperature correction shall be carefully carried out.

  • ACSR전력선의 송전용량 증가를 위해 개발된 중용량저이도 송전선인 STACIR/AW(Super Thermal-resistant Aluminum alloy Conductors, aluminum-clad Invar-Reinforced)전선은 초내열 Al도체 및 인바강선의 사용으로 비교적 고온에서의 안정적 운전이 가능하다. 그러나 고온 환경에서 장시간 노출된 STAClR/AW전선의 안정적 관리를 위해서는, 열화 된 STACIR/AW 전선의 인장강도, 각 구성소재의 탄성계수, 비틀림 계수 등과 같은 기계적 물성이 장기 운전 모의를 위해 선정된 열화온도, 열화시간 등에 대해 종합적으로 평가될 필요가 있다. 또한 크립 등과 같이 고온응력 부하상태에서의 변형거동과 탄성계수 및 선팽창계수의 온도의존성 등은 전선의 이도관리와 예측을 위해서도 명확히 규명되어야할 중요한 관리 인자이다. 그러나 현재까지는 이들에 대해 수행한 어떠한 연구결과들도 보고 되어 있지 않은 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 STACIR/AW $410mm^2$ 송전선을 장시간 운전의 모의를 위해 가속열화 시키고 가속열화에 따른 STACIR/AW 전선 및 그 구성소재의 강도, 비틀림 특성의 변화를 조사하여 장시간 운전에 따른 STACIR/AW전선의 안정성을 평가하여 보고하고자 하였다.

A Study of Relations of Chain Lengths and Properties for Bifunctional linear DGEBF/Linear Amino (EDA, HMDA) Cure Systems (선형 이관능성 DGEBF/선형아민(EDA, HMDA) 경화계의 경화제 사슬길이와 물성과의 관계에 대한 연구)

  • To determine the effect of chain length and chemical structure of linear amine curing agents on thermal and mechanical properties, a standard bifunctional linear DGEBF epoxy resin was cured with EDA and HMDA having amine group at the both ends of main chain in a stoichiometrically equivalent ratio in condition of preliminary and post cure. From this work, the effect of linear amine curing agents on the thermal and mechanical properties is significantly influenced by numbers of carbon atoms of main chain. In contrast, the results show that the DCEBF/EDA system having two carbons had higher values in the thermal stability, density, shrinkage (%), grass transition temperature, tensile modulus and strength, flexural modulus and strength than the DGEBF/HMDA system having six carbons, whereas the DGEBF/EDA cure system had relatively low values in maximum ekothermic temperature, maximum conversion of epoxide, thermal expansion coefficient than the DGEBF/HDMA cure system. These findings indicate that the packing capability (rigid property) in the EDA structure affects the thermal and mechanical properties predominantly. It shows that flexural fracture properties have a close relation to flexural modulus and strength.

About Short-stacking Effect of Illite-smectite Mixed Layers (일라이트-스멕타이트 혼합층광물의 단범위적층효과에 대한 고찰)

  • Illite-smectite mixed layers (I-S) occurring authigenically in diagenetic and hydrothermal environments reacts toward more illite-rich phases as temperature and potassium ion concentration increase. For that reason, I-S is often used as geothermometry and/or geochronometry at the field of hydrocarbons or ore minerals exploration. Generally, I-S shows X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) patterns of ultra-thin lamellar structures, which consist of restricted numbers of sillicate layers (normally, 5 ~ 15 layers) stacked in parallel to a-b planes. This ultra-thinness is known to decrease I-S expandability (%S) rather than theoretically expected one (short-stacking effect). We attempt here to quantify the short stacking effect of I-S using the difference of two types of expandability: one type is a maximum expandability ($%S_{Max}$) of infinite stacks of fundamental particles (physically inseparable smallest units), and the other type is an expandability of finite particle stacks normally measured using X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) ($%S_{XRD}$). Eleven I-S samples from the Geumseongsan volcanic complex, Uiseong, Gyeongbuk, have been analyzed for measuring $%S_{XRD}$ and average coherent scattering thickness (CST) after size separation under 1 ${\mu}m$. Average fundamental particle thickness ($N_f$) and $%S_{Max}$ have been determined from $%S_{XRD}$ and CST using inter-parameter relationships of I-S layer structures. The discrepancy between $%S_{Max}$ and $%S_{XRD}$ (${\Delta}%S$) suggests that the maximum short-stacking effect happens approximately at 20 $%S_{XRD}$, of which point represents I-S layer structures consisting of ca. average 3-layered fundamental particles ($N_f{\approx}3$). As a result of inferring the $%S_{XRD}$ range of each Reichweite using the $%S_{XRD}$ vs. $N_f$ diagram of Kang et al. (2002), we can confirms that the fundamental particle thickness is a determinant factor for I-S Reichweite, and also that the short-stacking effect shifts the $%S_{XRD}$ range of each Reichweite toward smaller $%S_{XRD}$ values than those that can be theoretically prospected using junction probability.
