  • Worldwide environmental regulations have been enhanced for emission reduction of greenhouse gases and air pollutants; accordingly, some measures were prepared. Furthermore, the need for effective and reasonable energy-saving methods is growing in accordance with that for environmental pollution minimization. In the case of marine engineering, techniques for the development of eco-friendly vessels have been actively studied, including reduction of exhaust gas emissions, development of alternative fuel, and development of a new propulsion system. In this study, we presented the basic concepts and analyzed the speed, current, voltage, and output power characteristics of each operating mode, i.e., operating mode of battery, generator, and full power.

  • 최근 전 세계적으로 수송수단과 산업시설에서의 배출로 인한 대기오염의 심각성을 강조하고 있다. 특히 항만과 공항에서도 대기오염의 중요성을 인지하고 있고 지역별 대기오염물질 배출 및 대기오염도 현황을 분석하여 각 시설에서의 종합관리방안을 도출하고 있다. 2020년부터 시행되는 국제해사기구(IMO)의 선박에서 배출되는 온실가스 즉, 황성분을 포함한 연소배기가스 중 CO2, SOX,NOX, PM2.5의 배출규제에의 대응과 배출규제해역(ECA)제도 도입에 따른 업계와 정부, 학회의 대비도 빠르게 진행되고 있다. 부산항에서도 항내계류선박과 하역장비에서의 오염물질 배출을 억제하기 위한 대체전력공급(AMP, Cold Ironing)에 대해 대응하고 있다. 본 연구는 도시주민의 건강을 위협하는 미세먼지(PM2.5)의 심각성과 배출가스의 저감을 위한 방안을 소개하고 오히려 이를 해운항만에서의 4차산업 발전의 계기로 대응하도록 하는 방향을 제시하고자 하였다. 산업화 과정에서 필연적인 대기오염을 저감시키는 방안이 새로운 해양산업으로 전환하기를 기대한다.

  • NOx 저감방법으로 여러 가지 방법들이 존재하며 연구되고 있다. 그중 Urea-SCR은 적용가능한 온도범위가 넓고 우수한 저감효율을 보여 자동차엔진의 NOx 저감장치로 많은 연구가 진행되어 왔다. Urea-SCR은 고체 Urea의 열 해리반응으로 생성되는 암모니아가스와 NOx 와의 화학반응으로 제거하는 것이 목적이다. NOx저감효율에 직접적인 영향을 주는 변수에는 분사노즐의 분무특성, 배기관내 분사위치, 요소수의 유량제어 등 여러 가지가 존재한다. 따라서 본문에서는 여러 가지 분사노즐, 유량제어방법, 배기가스 물성치 및 관내 유동특성 등에 대해 소개하고 Urea-SCR시스템 적용가능성을 언급하고자 한다.

Experimental Study on Reduction of Emissions for Marine Diesel Engines with a Double Post Injection (선박용 디젤엔진에서 이단지연분사에 따른 배기 배출물 저감에 관한 실험 연구)

  • Marine Environment Protection Committee of the International Maritime Organization has decided to reinforce the NOx emission standards for ships passing an ECA(Emission Control Area) with Tier III standards from January 1, 2016. In this study, real-time measurements of the exhaust gas, cylinder pressure and fuel consumption were conducted at each load of a T/S Hanbada main engine of Korea Maritime and Ocean University, which is controlled by single injection and double post injection for reducing NOx emissions. The results showed that the quantity of CO2 and NOx increased in proportion to the engine load, whereas the CO concentration was inversely proportional to the engine load. In addition, double post injection decreased 10 % of P-max and reduced 25~30 % of the NOx emissions compared to single injection, whereas there was a trade-off relation, such as increase 3~5 % of SFOC (Specific Fuel Oil Consumption).

  • 특정한 엔진부하 조건에서 배기가스 및 흡입공기 대해서는 물 또는 에탄올이 R134a에 비하여 시스템 효율이 상대적으로 더 높게 나타났고, 냉각수에 대해서는 R134a가 다른 냉매에 비하여 회수되는 일률이 상대적으로 더 컸다.

  • 환경오염 문제로 인하여 질소산화물의 규제가 크게 강화되었으며 규제에 대응을 위한 연구가 활발히 진행되면 배기가스 후처리 기술 중의 SCR시스템이 연구되고 있다. 이러한 시스템의 개발에 있어 엔진 거동에 대한 NOx 제거효율을 높이고 장비가격을 낮추기 위하여 정확한 농도 측정이 필요하며, 이러한 측정에 들어가는 감시물질을 이용한 가스센서 방식의 반도체 감지 재료를 이용한 방식, SAW(surface acoustic wave)소자를 이용한 구동 방식, Micro / Nano 공진자를 이용한 방식과 광학방식을 이용한 가스센서의 적외선 흡광 방식, 광음향 방식의 기술소개 및 시장동향에 대하여 간략히 기술한다.

  • In this study, it shows the efficiency of each refrigerant through simulation method for ORC (Organic Rankine Cycle) power generation that converts waste heat discarded by ship exhaust into electricity for the purpose of reducing CO2 emission and increasing ship waste heat recovery. by Simulation was performed with waste heat from the exhaust gas which is relatively high temperature and cooling sea water which is relatively low temperature from ships. As a result of the sea water cooling ORC power generating system, efficiency of the working fluid with R717 is highest as a 2.86 % and the next working fluid is R152a, R134a, R143a and R125a.

  • Legislative and regulatory actions regarding the exhaust gas from ships are being strengthened by both international organizations and national governments, to protect human health and the environment. Exhaust gas traps are excluded from exhaust gas regulation applications, but, recently, the United States, Britain, and other developed countries have examined a variety of ways to improve the system, including the introduction of electric propulsion systems to prevent air pollution generated by naval ships. This study investigates a large number of smoke problems of naval diesel engines to verify the effect of improving the nozzle characteristics. An exhaust gas emission measurement method to determine the quality of pollutant exhaust gas generated during low-load operation is proposed through the research methodology of the smoke problem. It was confirmed that the emissions value is improved by decreasing the nozzle hole diameter and increasing the injection pressure. At the same time, the flow rate decrease equation and setting up a test memo based on the nozzle diameter confirmed that the fuel consumption, to which the nozzle diameter in the flow path is related, is reduced.

  • The exergy characteristics for R245fa and water working fluids have been analyzed for an electric generation system utilizing the Rankine cycle to recover heat from the wasted exhaust gas from a diesel engine used for the propulsion of a large ship. The theoretical calculation results showed that the efficiencies of exergy and system exergy improved as the turbine inlet pressure increased for R245fa at a fixed mass flow rate. Furthermore, the exergy destruction rates of the condenser and evaporator were relatively larger than those in other components. The exergy efficiency of the system increased with increasing mass flow rate. For a water working fluid, although the exergy destruction rate of the evaporator was similar to that for R245fa, the exergy loss rate varied significantly in response to variations in the pressure and mass flow rates at the turbine inlet.

  • The thermodynamic efficiency characteristics of R245fa and water as working fluids have been analyzed for the electricity generation system applying the Rankine cycle to recover the waste heat of the exhaust gas from a diesel engine for the propulsion of a large ship. The theoretical calculation results showed that the cycle, system, and total efficiencies were improved as the turbine inlet pressure was increased for R245fa at a fixed mass flow rate. In addition, the net work rate generated by the Rankine cycle was elevated with increasing turbine inlet pressure. In the case of water, however, the maximum system efficiencies were demonstrated at relatively small ratios of mass flow rate and turbine inlet pressure, respectively, compared to those of R245fa. The optimized values of the net power of the cycle, system efficiency, and total efficiency for water had relatively large values compared to those of R245fa.
