This research presents an analysis of algorithm for ship track-keeping along a given trajectory. The maneuver of a free running model ship guiding through a simple path are presented. In order to solve the above problem, a desired trajectory is usually determined by GPS points in a pre-fixed place then these points are set in a pre-programmed navigation so that the ship would be automatically tracked. Proportional-Derivative(PD) control which is useful for fast response controllers was used in this program as a course keeping system. A high accuracy GPS receiver was installed on the model ship that could provide positions frequently, the system will compare and give out the remaining distance and heading to the target way-point. The results of ship auto track-keeping experiment will be explained in order to illustrate the adjustment in controlling parameters. These results can be utilized as a preliminary step to carry out the experiment of ship collision avoidance system and automatic berthing in the future.

In the past, regional pilot service is provided by individual pilots directly on board each ship, but it will be difficult to provide this type of service in the near future when autonomous vessels are activated. This can be seen as the need for automation and intelligence of pilot service and provision of remote control system. In this paper, we propose a method, system, and service target that can carry out the electronic pilot service through the intelligence aids to navigation for smart port operation.

One of the major technology issues in the ship production processes is the curved hull forming process that is a bottle neck and performed by experienced workers. In order to automate the curved hull forming process, there are a lot of attempts to develop the automation system by many shipbuilding companies and academic labs. However they have some problems which put the developed system in the difficulties to be used and maintained in the yard. In this paper, the problems are formed and solved by using tailored Systems Engineering Process which consists of four steps, those are requirement definition, system design, implementation of subsystem and components, and system integration and verification. A prototype for the proposed system development methodology is implemented. From the consideration of the prototype implemented, it is verified that this methodology can be an alternative to solve the problems.
A hull form design technique to enhance the wave-making resistance performance for a medium size high speed Ro-Pax ship was studied introducing an optimization method and an automatic hull form modification method. SQP(sequential quadratic programming) was applied as the optimization algorithm and the geometry of hull surface was represented and modified using the NURBS(Non-Uniform Rational B-Spline). The wave-making resistance performance as an objective function in the optimization procedure was evaluated using the Rankine source panel method in which nonlinearity of the free surface boundary conditions and the trim and sinkage of the ship was fully taken into account. Using the Ro-Pax ship as a base hull, the hull-form optimization method was applied to obtain the hull shape that produced the lower wave-making resistance. To verify the validity of the hull-form optimization method, the numerical results was compared with the model test results.

This paper resents a novel cargo system adapted for a sea port subjected to severe time-varying tide. The proposed system can perform loading or unloading by using a sort of hydraulic elevator associated with real-tim position control. As a preliminary phase, a small-sized model of the cargo system is designed and constructed. The model consists of three principal components ; container palette transfer(CPT) car, platform with lifting columns and cargo ship. The platform activated by the electro-rheological(ER) valve-cylinder is actively controlled to track the position of the cargo ship subjected to be varied due to the time-varying tide and wave motion. Following the derivation of the dynamic model for the platform and cargo ship motions, an appropriate control scheme incorporating time sequence and PID(proportional-integral-derivative) controller is formulated and implemented. Both the simulated and the measured control results are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed cargo system.
AIS-ASM is one of the studies to provide a variety of maritime safety information as well as the information on a ship's position that is their own function, and AIS-ASM has been implemented with adjustment of the relevant regulations since 2004. However, it was reported that the increased use of ASM message on the existing AIS channel affects the part of the existing AIS own function such as the transmission of the ship's position and safe-related information. Also, seamless MSP service is difficult to provide at a low transmission rate of the existing AIS channel. This study aims to reduce the marine officer's workload through automating captain's mandatory reporting items using the one of the next maritime digital communication technology (ASM2.0). For this purpose, we designed and realized the ASM2.0 protocol through analyzing domestic regulations about passenger flight and AIS-ASM message.
According to the dramatical changes from individual trip to the family and couple trip in 1990 caused by both economic growth, rising the level of people's income, and change of social structure such as the increasing time due to the fact of automatic system, and social trends to use this time for their leisure time, this trend influences on the cruise. recently, required for accommodating room to family, the cruise decorated with luxurious things becomes the center of public attention. This study should be a foundation works for developing domestic cruise in near future through surveying a floor plan (plan of room and deck), picture of room, characteristic of space, finish material and interior spatial organization factor & characteristic and analyzing them.

The rapid growth of IT technology has enabled ship automation systems to gain better functionality and safety with reduced costs and crew numbers. Nowadays, the remote maintenance services for the systems are required because a ship may be located in a very remote area. To provide the remote maintenance services, some issues such as how to collect the ship automation systems data, how to monitor a ship's data from onshore offices, how to get support from experts while sailing, and how to reduce the maintenance costs, should be addressed. In this paper, we propose a remote ship maintenance system for remote monitoring and diagnostics of ship automation systems, which is based on both a ship area network to integrate separate system networks and a ship-shore communication infrastructure to support a remote access using satellite communications. Finally, we present the function test to verify the applicability of the proposed system.
This is a study for international competitiveness analysis if korea ship management service using the collected data from the fields in industry. making a comparison if ship management company between domestic ones in Korea and mutinational ones in international market is more suitable for it's purpose. but competitiveness level of korean ship management companies are too low to compare. Therefore in this study, ship management devision in Korea overseas shipping companies are selected as a target of camparision and the representative of Korea ship management industry. The analysis of competitiveness is divided by price competition and non-price competition. The former is consist of element likes as crew management cost, dry-docking cost, repair cos, stores & spares cost, lubricants cost and management free cost, The later os consist of element like as quality of sea & shore personnel, efficiency of company's organization, ability of management system. qualifications & certifications, know -hoe for the ship management, structure of control & support ship and office automation & IT system. According to this analysis the ship management division in korean shipping companied are superior to the foreign specialized ship management companies generally. So, it is necessary that korea ship management industry attempt level-up continously and expand into international ship management market positively.

IMO adopted comprehensive revisions to the International Convention and Code on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping (STCW) at diplomatic conference in Manila, Philippine in June 2010. In Korea, the legal amendment of Korean Marine Officers Act has been proposed to apply revised STCW convention to The Korean Law. The Korean Marine Officers Enforcement Ordinance Act currently working on follow-up and this legislation was passed in Legislation and Judiciary Committee. This thesis would like to look into the current status of how to apply the Electro-Technical Officers standard and license system from the Korean Marine Officers Act to be revised. Also, This study aims to effectively improve for Korean Marine Officers Enforcement Ordinance of Electro-Technical Officers system and to provide the policy proposal.
