A Study on the Monitoring Method of Ship Hull and Propeller Performance by Operating Ship (선체 및 프로펠러 성능 모니터링 방법 실선 적용을 통한 고찰)

  • This study analyzes the results of applying the ISO19030 (hull and propeller performance monitoring method) standard to an actual 178 k bulk vessel. Recently, there have been many attempts to apply various energy reduction solutions to vessels to continuously strengthen GHG reduction regulations and secure maritime competitiveness. However, it is not easy to quantitatively analyze the performance of a ship. To resolve these problems, shipping companies, marine paint companies, ship owners, and transportation associations have appointed specialists and standardized the ISO19030 (standard of hull and propeller performance monitoring method) guidelines in 2016 after three years of continuous review. The ISO19030 standard provides methods to monitor hull and propeller performance quantitatively through standardized procedures, thus allowing ship managers to arrive at informed decisions for hull and propeller maintenance, and to evaluate energy-saving solutions and ship-maintenance efficiency. The ISO19030 standard provides a method of analyzing the ship's own performance by collecting the ship's operation and agency data and correcting its environmental and operating factors. In this paper, we apply the ISO19030 standard to three actual ships and propose the ISO19030 application result and the improvement point of the current ISO19030 standard.

Development of Route following Algorithm for Application in Collision Avoidance Routes of Maritime Autonomous Surface Ship (자율운항선박의 회피 항로 적용을 위한 항로 추종 알고리즘 개발)

  • Recently, the demand for autonomous navigation technology has increased, and related research is also increasing. Autonomous ships generally follow the planned route, calculate the avoidance route according to the risk situation while sailing, and follow a calculated route. In general, an automatic steering device is used to follow the route, and among the operational automatic steering device methods, the route control mode is the most appropriate method to apply to autonomous ships. Therefore, in this study, we developed a route-tracking algorithm to apply an avoidance route using the navigation control mode of an automatic steering device. The algorithm was developed by dividing the straight and turning sections. A performance test was conducted to satisfy the performance suggested by IEC 62065, the relevant international standard, using simulator equipment that had acquired international certification to verify its performance. The results of the performance verification confirmed that the cross-track error, which represents the straight distance between the ship and the route, satisfied the performance standards suggested by IEC 62065 when the ship followed the route.

  • 이 연구는 기존 VTS 시스템의 효율성을 증대시키기 위해 VTS 시스템에 선박조종 시뮬레이터를 기능적으로 연계시켜 VTS 시스템을 3차원으로 확장시키고자 시도된 것이다. 기존의 VTS 시스템은 ARPA Radar를 이용한 2차원에 국한된 관제 시스템이나 이 시스템에 분산처리 네트워크방식을 적용하여 3차원 기능을 가진 VTS 시스템으로의 확장이 가능하도록 하였다. 이러한 확장된 VTS 시스템의 운용은 선박의 안전운항에 큰 역할을 할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

  • 선박 건조시에 사용되는 알루미늄 합금은 환경친화적인 재료로 각광을 받고 있으며, FRP 선박의 대체재료로 부각되고 있다. 선박 운항시 해수 환경하에서 선체의 부식을 방지하기 위해 도장 뿐만아니라 희생양극이나, 음극방식 등은 필수불가결한 사항이다. Al-Mg 합금인 5083-H116에 대한 천연 해수 용액에서 저변형율 인장시험을 통한 응력부식균율이나 수소취화의 영향이 없는 최적의 방식 전위를 결정하였다.

예부선 운항 시뮬레이션을 위한 후방 가시화 구현 방안

  • 예선은 일반적인 선박에 비해 협소한 선교를 가지고 있으며, 부선의 상태/상황 및 감시를 하기 위해 후방을 주시해야 한다. 이러한 예선의 특성을 시뮬레이션 시스템에 반영하기 위해서는 여러 고려사항이 있다. 협소한 선교를 가진다는 점은 현재 한국해양 연구원 해양시스템안전연구소가 보유하고 있는 CDS(Collimated Dome Simulator)의 조종실을 사용함으로써 반영할 수 있다. 하지만, 이 시스템은 전방에 대한 가시화만을 지원하며, 후방 가시화를 위해서는 360도 디스플레이 방식을 사용하는 것이 최적이다. 본 논문에서는 현재 보유 중인 CDS에 예부선 시뮬레이션 가시화의 특성을 반영할 수 있는 후방 가시화에 대한 개발 방안에 대해 다루고자 한다. 추가적인 장비를 조종실(선교)의 뒤쪽에 설치함으로써 CDS가 가지는 단점을 해결할 수 있을 것으로 예상된다.

  • Recently, unmanned systems have been studied and developed in various areas including aircrafts, automobiles and vessels. In addition, many researches about unmanned systems in Korea have been studying actively with the advancement of IT However, it is not satisfied with the result of the researches and developments. Bemuse of the reason we've here tried to make a very small USV which is a barge type. We applied the Great circle navigation calculation based on GPS to the autonomous navigation algorithm and used the LabVIEW 8.2 developed by NI corp. for programming The engine and rudder were controlled by pulse width modulation method. The engine system was composed of the DC motor and ESC(Electronic Speed Controller). It was also applied by the direct cooling system using DC motor pump. A very small USV was designed and made by ourself and it was verified the effectiveness of autonomous navigation algorithm through the tests at the sea.

  • e-navigation은 해양 환경의 보호를 증진하고 바다에서의 안전과 보안을 위한 항해 및 관련서비스를 선박의 이안에서 접안에 이르기까지 향상시키기 위해 전자적인 수단으로 선박과 해상의 해양 정보에 대해 조화로운 방법으로 수집, 통합, 교환, 표현 및 분석하는 것을 말한다. 기존 안전 확보를 위한 규제의 방식을 탈피하기 위해 사고의 원인의 많은 부분을 차지하는 인간-사용자의 실수를 사전에 방지하고 또한 사용자의 편의를 증진할 수 있는 방식을 채택하고자 사용자의 요구사항을 정리하고 그에 따른 종합적인 아키텍처를 수립하여 정책, 기술 및 이를 통한 서비스를 제공하겠다는 것이 e-navigation의 근본 목적이다. 선박의 안전 운항을 위해 현재까지 제공된 선상의 시스템이나 해상에서의 서비스를 받고 있는 많은 사용자들은 보다 효율적이고 체계적인 안전 운항과 이를 지원하는 의사결정 지원을 위해 보다 향상된 기술과 성능을 갖는 새로운 도구를 갖기를 지속적으로 원하고 있으며 관련국제기구인 국제해사기구(IMO), 국제항로표지협회(IALA), IEE, ITU 등 다양한 분야의 국제기구에서 지속적으로 논의되고 있다. 이러한 국제기구의 e-Navigation에 관한 논의에 대하여 적절한 대응, 일관성을 가진 대응을 위한 방안 마련을 제시하였다.

Correlation of Marine Exploration-Survey Vessel Operation Factors and Grid-Type Operation Method through ES Model Analysis (환경스트레스 모델을 통한 해양탐사·조사선의 격자형 운항방식과 운항요인 상관관계에 관한 연구)

  • Because of the continuous increase in the demand for and importance of marine space, marine exploration and survey activities are being actively conducted in Korea actively. Because the marine survey vessels used for these activities have special operational patterns depending on the purpose and probe vessels, research on maritime traffic risk is required. In this study, an attempt was made to determine the correlation of each factor with the effect of marine exploration and survey vessel operation on maritime traffic. The status of ocean exploration and survey vessels in operation in Korea was identified, as well as the special operational conditions of some of the ocean physical probes. Generally, the number of exploration and survey vessels involved per hour, total vessel length(including exploration equipment), operation, interval distance of exploration as per plan, and marine traffic conditions(traffic volume and speed) can be classified as operating factors. To compare the results of the environmental stress, a maritime traffic flow simulation based on the "ES" Model was performed with each of the identified operating factors as independent variables. The results of the analysis confirmed that the environmental stress significantly changed in the order of traffic volume, ship length and speed. In addition, it was confirmed that the environmental stress is reduced when the operation course is set at an angle with the nearby maritime traffic flow. Accordingly, it can help reduce the operator's burden if the survey vessel operator understands nearby maritime traffic conditions and reflects them in the operation method when setting the operation plan.

  • .Ports are usually designed as a dead en port. With an increasing tendency of ship size, the problems such as maneuvering difficulty, turning basin, tugboat fee, etc. are getting to be pointed out. For solving such problem, the conversion of the idea fro dead end port to one-way through port is encourage. To examine the advantage of one-way through port, a quantitative and systematic analyzing procedure is needed. For this, this paper evaluated the preference on the three way of departture using the fuzzy measure and integral model.

A study on performance comparison of jacket cooling fresh water system for marine diesel engine (선박용 디젤기관의 재킷 냉각청수시스템 성능 비교에 관한 연구)

  • Due to the financial crisis in 2008, the world economy collapsed leading to an increase in oil prices and a decrease in freight by shipping. To overcome this crisis, major shipping companies ordered larger ships, changed their trading route and improved operating of ships to overcome deficits. In particular, low-speed navigation was much favored by many companies so that it can reduce fuel consumption. However, the long-term operation of high-speed optimized engines in low-speeds has affected the jacket cooling fresh water (J.C.F.W.) system as they fail to maintain the normal operational temperature. The temperature of J.C.F.W. system dropped leading to low temperature corrosion. As a result, when the engine is operating at minimal load the functioning of existing J.C.F.W cooler is decreased and the use of fresh water generator is substantially limited. Therefore, an improvement in the functioning of J.C.F.W. system is necessary. In this paper, in order to review the improvements required for the operation of J.C.F.W. of low-speed operating marine diesel, an experiment was conducted by comparing and analyzing the results of the main engine J.C.F.W. system of a Panamax class bulk carrier 82k and a Cape class bulk carrier 180k by installing and uninstalling the J.C.F.W. Cooler. Thus, this paper proposed an improved design of the J.C.F.W. system that is suitable for the present low-speed operation.
