The compression molding is widely used in the automotive industry to produce products that are large, thin, lightweight and stiff. The molded product is formed by squeezing a fiber-reinforced plastic composites. During a molding process of fiber reinforced thermoplastic composites, control of filling patterns in mold, orientation and distribution of fibers are needed to predict the effects of molding parameters on the flow characteristics. It is the objective of this paper to develop an isothermal compression molding simulation that can handle both thin and thick charges and motion of the flow front, and can predict pressure distributions and accurate velocity gradients. The composites are treated as an incompressible Newtonian fluid. The effects of slip parameter $\alpha$ and extensional/shear viscosity ratio $\zeta$ on the mold filling parameters are also discussed.

A study is analyzed on the design factor of center-body diffuser and performed on conceptual design of center-body diffuser with computational fluid dynamic. The flow field of center-body diffuser is calculated using axisymmetric two-dimensional Navier-Stokes equation with $k-{\epsilon}$ turbulencemodel. The center-body diffuser is compared with second throat exhaust diffuser in terms of starting pressure, the degree of vacuum pressure and the design factors. The counter flow jet on cone-tip of the center-body is applied for thermal protection system in the center-body diffuser.

In this paper, heat/mass transfer characteristics on a film cooled stationary rotor blade are investigated using the naphthalene sublimation method. A row-speed annular wind tunnel with a single annular turbine stage is used. Three rows of film cooling holes are machined on the leading edge of the test blade. Detailed heat/mass transfer distributions are measured with changing the blowing rate from 1.0 to 2.0. As the blowing ratio increases, overall heat/mass transfer increases and the lower peak formed on the pressure side were disappeared.
To analyse the end bearing capacity of a single pile in cohesionless soils, the mode of deformation due to a pile penetration has been intestigated through model pile penetration tests using acetone hardening and resin impregnation technique. A new mode of deformation has been assumed from the experimental results and a new solution compeying with the theory of spherical cal.its expansion has been proposed. The end bearing capacity according to the proposed solution is expressed as the product of the limit spherical cavity expansion pressure multiplied by a col.relation factor. The results has been compared with other solutions based on the theory of cavity expansion. From the comparison, the proposed solution is expected to provide a way to solve the problem of pile bearing capacity prediction based on the theory of cavity expansion which often has been criticized as giving higher value of pile bearing capacity than the actual value.
After open -ended model pipe pile, which was composed of inner tube and outer tube was driven by different installation methods, degradation in open -ended pipe pile capacity was studied during simulated horizontal seismic shaking, which was modeled by records of actual earthquake. Drgradation in ultimate capacity of open -ended pipe pile during simulated earthquake was about 20% in impact pile and was approached up to about 40% in vibratal pile. Most of degradation in ultimate pile capacity was occured in the outer shaft surface and degradations in outer skin friction, toe resistance of steel, and plugging force were about 80%, 10%, 10%, respectively. out of ultimate pile capacity. It appeared that this trend did not depend upon the different installation methods of pile.

Diesel engines are most suitable for biodiesel fuel because diesel fuel has a higher cetane number compared to gasoline and diesel engines have no spark ignition system; hence, engine conversion is easy and cost effective. For these reasons, in this study, the spray behavior characteristics of vegetable palm oil were analyzed by using a common-rail injection system of a commercial diesel engine, and the results were compared with those obtained for the diesel fuel. The injection pressures and blend ratios of palm oil and diesel fuel (BD3, BD5, BD20, BD30, BD50, and BD100) were the main parameters. The experiments were conducted for different injection pressures-500 bar, 1000 bar, 1500 bar, and 1600 bar-by setting the injection duration at $500{\mu}s$. We determined there is no significant difference in the macro characteristics of the spray behavior (spray penetration and spray angle) in response to any change in the blend ratio of palm oil and diesel fuel at a fixed injection pressure. In particular, all experiments showed a spray angle of approximately $15^{\circ}$.
After the model open-ended pile attached with strain gages was driven into a pressure chamber, in which the saturated microfine sand was contained, the static compression loading test was performed for that pile. Based on the test results, ultimate pile capacity was determined. Then, either simulated earthquake shaking or sinusoidal shaking was applied to the pile with the sustained certain level OP ultimate pile load. Then, pile capacity degradations characteristics during shaking were studied. Pile capacity degradation during two different shakings were greatly different. During the simulated earthquake shaking, capacity degradation depended upon the magnitude of applied load. When the load applied to the pile top was less than 70% of ultimate pile capacidy, pile capacity degradation rate was less than 8%, and pile with the sustained ultimate pile load had the degradation rate of 90%. Also, most of pile capacity degradation was reduced in outer skin friction and degradation rate was about 80% of ultimate pile capacity reduction. During sinusoidal shaking, pile capacity degradation did not depend on the magnitude of applied load. It depended on the amplitude and the frequency , the larger the amplitude and the fewer the frequency was, the higher the degradation rate was. Reduction pattern of unit soil plugging (once depended on the mode of shaking. Unit soil plugging force by the simulated earthquake shaking was reduced in the bottom 3.0 D, of the toe irrespective of the applied load, while reduction of unit soil plugging force by sinusoidal shaking was occurred in the bottom 1.0-3.0D, of the toe. Also, the soil plugging force was reduced more than that during simulated earthquake shaking and degradation rate of the pile capacity depended on the magnitude of the applied load.

As a preliminary study on the spray behavior characteristics of emulsified fuel, the fuel properties (viscosity, surface tension, and density) and evaporation characteristics of a fuel droplet were investigated. The emulsified fuel was made by mixing diesel and $H_2O_2$. In addition, the macroscopic spray behavior characteristics such as the spray penetrations and spray angles of the emulsified and diesel fuels were compared. The stirring condition of the emulsified fuel was a 9:1 mixture of the diesel fuel and the surfactant span 80. The mixing ratios for the hydrogen peroxide were set at EF2, EF12, EF22, EF32, EF42, EF52, EF62, EF72, EF82, and EF92. The injection pressures were set at 400, 600, 800, and 1000 bar. We found that as the mixing ratio of the hydrogen peroxide was increased from EF2 to EF52, the viscosity of the emulsified fuel increased. However, afterward, the viscosity of the emulsified fuel gradually decreased and approached the viscosity value of the diesel fuel. Therefore, generally oil-in-water emulsions were used for the hydrogen peroxide mixing ratios up to 52 (EF52), and water-in-oil emulsions were used for the hydrogen peroxide mixing ratios above 52. Finally, the spray behavior characteristics (spray penetration and spray angle) of the emulsified fuel were found to be almost independent of the mixing ratio.
In this study, we developed the electric heating equipment and applied for soft ground improvement. The developed heat pipe is 4 m-length and consumes 1 kW/m, which is consisted of Ni-Cr wire. It was installed in 3.5~4.5 m below ground surface and heated for 96 hours (48 hours, 2 times). The temperature variation and vapor pressure caused by electric heating was measured by the thermometer and pressure gauge which were installed in the ground (5.0 m), and the tip resistances were measured by static electronic piezo-cone penetration test (CPT). As the results of experiments, 2-order polynomial curve was shown to adjust the variation of tip resistance and the temperature distribution with the horizontal distance from electric heater, whose R2 value is close to 1. In addition, in-situ pore-water pressure and water content was decreased.
Model tests in calibration chamber with open -ended steel pipe pile have been performed in sand deposit to clarify effect of soil plug on bearing capacity, load transfer mechanisms in soil plug, and behavior of soil plug under dynamic and static conditions. Model piles were devised so that bearing capacity of open -ended pile could be measured separately into outside skin friction, inside skin friction due to soil plug -pile interaction and end bearing force on the section of steel pipe pile. It may be concluded, form the test results, that the plugging level of open -ended pile is more correctily defined by specific recovery ratio, y, rather than by plug length ratio, PLR, and the major part of inside skin friction is generated within the range of three times as long as the inner diameter of the pile from the pile tip. The ratio of inside skin friction to total bearing capacity is much larger than that of outside skin friction to total bearing capacity. Therefore, the bearing capacity of pile could not be well predicted, unless the inside skin friction is properly taken into account.
