Effects of varying gamma-irradiation doses and polyethylene package on the quality and chemical components of Jonathan apples were investigated. The results obtained are as follows: 1. The doses of 50 to 100 krad were effective in the control of fruit rot and physiological disorders. 2. Gamma-irradiation to Jonathan apples rather accelerated shrivelling at the early stage of storage period. 3. Combined treatments of radiation and polyethylene package enabled to control the shrivelling of apples. 4. The rate of freight loss was lower in the irradiated and/or packing lots than control 5. Gamma-irradiation and polyethylene package did not appear to influence on the sugar content of apples.

This paper described an improved technical method required for proper evaluation of personnel exposures by means of the photographic dosimeter developed by KAERI in lower gamma or X-ray energy regions, with which response of the dosimeter varies significantly. With calibration of the dosimeter in the energy range from 30 to 300 keV, the beam spectrum was carefully selected and specified it adequately. The absorber combinations and absorber thickness used to obtain the specified X-ray spectra from a constant potential X-ray machine were determined theoretically and also experimentally. A correlation between the density and exposure for the four separate energies, such as $49\;keV_{eff},\;154\;keV_{eff}\;250\;keV_{eff}\;and\;662\;keV$, is experimentally determined. As a result, it can be directly evaluated the exposure from the measured response of dosimeter.

A great variety of nuclear gamma rays emitted from fission and activation products of spent nuclear fuel contains much information that can be elicited without affecting the integrity of the fuel elements. But the extraction of such information from the complex spectrum is difficult and requires computer codes. In the present work, a versatile code 'CAERI' was developed which locates peaks and calculates their areas for X-rays as well as gamma rays using elegant features of some widely used programs for gamma-ray peak fitting. 'CAERI' coded in FORTRAN used infinite series approximation more accurate than other workers various, simple, piecewise series approximations for evaluations of the Voigt function which represents the X-ray peak with non-negligible natural line width. 'CAERI' can handle even a complex multiplet consisting of peaks from X-rays and gamma rays in arbitrary mixture, which one often encounters in the isotopic analysis of heavy elements such as U and Pu. The results of the fitting performed on the test spectra of $^{177m}\;Lu\;{\gamma}-ray\;and\;^{235}U\;K_{\alpha}$X-ray show good agreement with those by previous workers.

1. A-value in the soils studied in this experiment were found to be about 40-50kg/10a (as $P_2O_5$) 2. Percentage of utilized phosphorus in Soybeans was 10%. 3. The utilization and A-value of phosphorus were very different among the varieties of soybean plants, and the range was about 30%. 4. A/M-value (A means maximum value of total amount of available phosphorus and M means minimum value of absorbed phosphorus by plants from soils) indicated the critical range of available phosphorus to the crops.

Discoloration by heating and gamma-radiation of aqueous solutions of two coal-tar food dyes used in meat products was observed. Tartrazin with sodium tri-polyphosphate or cinnamon oil was slightly discolorized by heating at $75^{\circ}C$, but Amaranth was comparatively resistant. Effect of gamma rays of coal-tar food dyes was generally increased with irradiation doses, and especially by the addition of sodium tri-polyphosphate and cinnamon oil. This tendency was higher in Tartrazin than Amaranth. The addition of sodium nitrate and ascorbic acid, and storage at low temperature, however, seems to be effective in decreasing the discoloration of irradiated solutions.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the structure of neurophysiological healing in Cho Ji-Hoon's poem "Line" and to use it in literature therapy program. Research shows that action potentials in the human body represent the mind. In other words, the electric charges appear to be the signs of the mind, and the action potentials of all the charges of the human body are integrated together to systematize the mind. Cho Ji-Hoon's poem "Line" resembles the process of collecting, analyzing, synthesizing and reproducing information, which is the function of the human neurophysiological synapse. This is a useful form of poetry in terms of its application to literary therapy programs. If we develop such a form of literary therapy program as Cho Ji-Hoon's poem, it will be more effective in healing process.
