Microstructure and Morphology of Carbide Precipitates in $Ni_3Al$ and TiAl ($Ni_3Al$과 TiAl 중에 석출한 탄화물의 미세구조와 형태)

  • Microstructure and morphology of precipitates in $Ni_3Al$- and TiAl-based intermetallics containing carbon have been investigated in terms of transmission electron microscopy(TEM). In an $L1_2$-ordered $Ni_3Al$ alloy with 4 mol.% of chromium and 0.2~3.0 mol.% of carbon, fine octahedral precipitates of $M_{23}C_6$ type carbide were formed in the matrix by aging at temperatures around 973 K after solution annealing at 1423 K. TEM examination revealed that the $M_{23}C_6$ phase and the matrix lattices have a cube-cube orientation relationship and keep partial atomic matching at the {111} interface. After prolonged aging or by aging at higher temperatures, the $M_{23}C_6$ precipitates then adopt a rod-like morphology elongated parallel to the <100> directions. In the $L1_0$-ordered TiAl containing 0.1~2.0 mol.% carbon, TEM observations revealed that needle-like precipitates, which lie only in one direction parallel to the [001] axis of the $L1_0$ matrix, appear in the matrix and preferentially at dislocations. Selected area electron diffraction(SAED) patterns analyses have shown that the needle-shaped precipitate is $Ti_3AlC$ of perovskite type. The orientation relationship between the $Ti_3AlC$ and the $L1_0$ matrix is found to be $(001)_{Ti3AlC}//(001)_{L10\;matrix}$ and $[010]_{Ti3AlC}//[010]_{L10\;matrix}$. By aging at higher temperatures or for longer period at 1073 K, plate-like precipitates of $Ti_2AlC$ with a hexagonal structure are formed on the {111} planes of the $L1_0$ matrix. The orientation relationship between the $Ti_2AlC$ and the $L1_0$ matrix is $(0001)_{Ti2AlC}//(111)_{L10\;matrix}$ and $_{Ti2AlC}//_{L10\;matrix}$.

Drowning-out Crystallization of Calcium Lactate for Crystal Size Control (결정입자 제어를 위한 젖산칼슘 용석결정화 기술)

  • In the present study, the drowning-out crystallization of L(+)-calcium lactate was investigated in order to develop the crystallization separation process. The crystallization of the calcium lactate was induced by injecting the alcoholic anti-solvent into the aqueous solution of calcium lactate and the control of the calcium lactate crystal size during the crystallization was primarily investigated under the consideration of the anti-solvent species, anti-solvent composition and agitation speed as the key operating factors. Alcohols of methanol, ethanol, n-propanol and i-propanol were used as the anti-solvent for the drowning-out crystallization. Prior to the crystallization experiment, the solubility of calcium lactate in the water-alcohol mixture was measured along with the variation of the alcohol species and composition, which was necessary to estimate the supersaturation level of the crystallization. By the drowning-out crystallization, the calcium lactate crystals of the fabric shape were obtained. Using the ethanol as the antisolvent, the fabric crystals close to the needle shape were produced. However, the hairy crystals were obtained by using the propanol as the anti-solvent. Due to such morphological features, the crystals was highly apt to form the aggregates. The aggregation of the crystals was intensified as increasing the alcohol fraction in the water-alcohol mixture. Meanwhile, the agitation caused the breakage of crystals, resulting in the decrease of the crystal size. Therefore, the crystal size in the crystallization was predominantly determined by the competition between the crystal aggregation and breakage.

  • 마찰교반접합 (Friction Stir Welding)은 1991년 영국 TWI에서 개발된 접합 법으로서 회전하는 툴이 재료내부에 삽입되면 툴과 재료사이에서 발생하는 마찰열에 의하여 온도가 상승하게 되어 재료는 연화되고, 이러한 재료 내부에서 회전하는 툴이 이동하게 되면 재료 내부는 기계적 교반에 의해 소성변형이 일어남과 동시에 접합이 이루어진다. 마찰교반접합은 동적 재결정에 의한 접합부의 미세한 결정립 형성으로 인하여 기계적 특성이 향상되며 보호 가스가 필요 없어 친환경적임과 동시에 용융 용접 법에 비해 접합 시 에너지 소모가 적으며 또한 접합 후 접합부에서의 변형이 상대적으로 적다는 장점이 있다. 이러한 장점을 가진 마찰교반접합은 알루미늄 합금, 마그네슘 합금 그리고 동 합금과 같은 저 융점 비철재료에 많은 연구와 적용 사례들이 있어왔다. 하지만 최근에는 일반 탄소강, 연강, 오스테나이트계 스테인리스강, 니켈 합금, 티타늄 합금과 같은 고융점 재료에도 연구 및 적용이 진행되고 있는 추세이다. 페라이트계 스테인리스강은 가격이 비싼 Ni을 함유하지 않아 오스테나이트계 스테인리스강에 비하여 강재의 가격은 낮으면서도 고온특성 및 내식성이 우수하여 건축용, 자동차 배기계용으로 널리 사용되고 있다. 하지만 이런 장점을 가진 페라이트계 스테인리스강을 기존의 용융 용접 법으로 접합 시 용접부 및 열영향부에서의 결정립의 조대화로 인한 인성 및 연성이 저하되며, 특히 예민화된 열영향부 입계 내에 Cr 탄화물이 석출되어 입계주변에 Cr 결핍 층을 형성되어 입계부식이 발생되는 문제점이 발생된다. 본 연구에서는 마찰교반접합을 이용하여 두께 3mm의 409 스테인리스강에 대해 맞대기 접합을 실시하였다. 접합 변수를 툴의 재료 (WC-12wt%Co, $Si_3N_4$)로 하여 접합을 실시하였고 접합 후 외관상태 점검, 광학 현미경과 주사 전자 현미경을 통하여 미세조직을 관찰하였으며 황산-황산동 부식 시험을 실시하여 접합부의 부식 특성을 평가하였다.

Effects of Heat-Treatments on Transformation Behavior of Matrix Structures in High Alloyed White Cast Iron (고합급백주철에 있어서 열처리가 기지조직의 변태에 미치는 영향)

  • Three different white cast irons alloyed with Cr, V, Mo and W were prepared in order to study their transformation behavior of matrix structures in heat-treated conditions. The specimens were produced using a 15kg-capacity high frequency induction furnace. Melts were super-heated to $1600^{\circ}C$, and poured at $1550^{\circ}C$ into Y-block pepset molds. Three combinations of the alloying elements were selected so as to obtain the different types of carbides and matrix structures : 3%C-10%Cr-5%Mo-5%W(alloy No. 1), 3%C-10%V-5%Mo-5%W(alloy No. 2) and 3%C-17%Cr-3%V(alloy No. 3). The heat-treatments were conducted as follows: frist of all, as-cast specimens were homogenized at $950^{\circ}C$ for 5h under the vacuum atmosphere. Then, they were austenitized at $1050^{\circ}C$ for 2h and followed by air-hardening in air. The air-hardened specimens were tempered at $300^{\circ}C$ for 3h. The observation of morphology of the matrix structures was carried out in the states of as-cast(AS), air-hardened(AHF) and tempered(AHFT). The matrix structures of each alloy were almost fully pearlitic in the as-cast state but it was transformed to martensite, tempered martensite and retained austenite by the heat-treatments such as air-hardening and tempering.

  • 최근 국내에서도 관 동맥 질환 환자의 수가 급증하고 있으며, 관 동맥 질환의 치료 방법인 관 동맥 성형 술은 관 동맥 stent의 도입에 의하여 보편화되어 국내에서 년간 5000개 이상의 stent가 시술되고 있다. 그러나 stent는 고가(1,200천원/개)로 전량 수입에 의존하고 있으며, 시술 후 사망까지 이를 수 있는 혈전에 의한 급성 페쇠와 재 협착이 문제점이다. 이를 위한 한가지 방법이 생체 적합성이 뛰어난 복합 stent의 개발인데 SiC나 Carbon을 coating한 stent는 시술 후 혈전 형성을 억제하는 것으로 알려져 있다. 특히 가장 순수한 Pyrolytic carbon은 hemocompatibility가 탁월하고 기밀 성이기 때문에 본 연구에서 그의 CVB-Kinetics를 연구코저 하는 것이다. methane으로부터 pyrolytic carbon의 CVD는 온도에 따라서 다양한 구조를 가지며 따라서 그의 mechanism도 다양하다는 것은 잘 알려져 있다. 더구나 광간(균질)반응과 표면(불균질)반응의 정량적 관계에 따라서도 다르다는 것도 확인되었다. 그러나 stainless steel 316L로 만든 stent는 12 - 15 %의 Ni과 2%의 Mo을 함유해서 금속성을 잃지 않는 저온(600℃)에서도 pyrolytic carbon의 속매적 CVD가 가능함을 그리고 SiC의 코팅에 적합한 buffer layer 역할을 함을 확인하였다. 그리하여 본 연구는 반응기 설계에 필요한 저온 촉매적 pyrolytic carbon의 CVD-kinetics의 연구결로 그의 mechanism과 함께 rate law 식을 유도, 확인하였으며 600℃, 90kPa에서 P/sub ch4//P/sub H2/=5:1과 체류시간 1.8 sec가 최적임을 발견하였다. 이때 석출속도 11.2 g-mol/g-cat.h 혹은 두께속도로 73 nm/sec를 나타내었다.메타놀-물 (1 : 1) 유출액에서 $(0.80\;{\mu}g)$ 검출되었다. 하면 morey eel내장에서 얻은 독물질도 DEAE-셀루로즈에서 ST-1 과 ST-2로 나누어지며, 이 ST-1의 TLC, HPLC 및 알루미나 컬럼상의 거동이 파랑비늘돔에서 얻은 ST-1의 그것과 같으므로 scaritoxin으로 보고한 ST-1은 ciguatoxin의 형태인 less polar cigutoxin (LPCTX) 으로 생각된다.에서 각각 대조구의 57, 413 및 315% 증진되었다. 거품의 열안정성은 15분 whipping시, pH 4.0(대조구, 30.2%) 및 5.0(대조구, 23.7%)에서 각각 $0{\sim}38.0$$0{\sim}57.0%$이었고 pH 7.0(대조구, 39.6%) 및 8.0(대조구, 43.6%)에서 각각 $0{\sim}59.4$$36.6{\sim}58.4%$이었으며 sodium alginate 첨가시가 가장 양호하였다. 전체적으로 보아 거품안정성이 높은 것은 열안정성도 높은 경향이며, 표면장력이 낮으면 거품형성능이 높아지고, 비점도가 높으면 거품안정성 및 열안정성이 높아지는 경향이 있었다.protocol.eractions between application agents that are developed using different languages.   • The synthesis and crystallization of amorphous calcium carbonate($CaCO_3$.$nH_2 O$) obtained from gas-liquid reaction between aqueous solution of calcium hydroxide and carbon dioxide at 15~$50^{\circ}C$ are investigated by electrical conductometry, XRD and TEM. The results are as follows: The initial reaction products prior to the formation of precipitated calcium carbonate is amorphous calcium carbonate. The electrical conductivity values in the slurry are decreased during the formation of amorphous calcium carbonate which covers particle surface of calcium hydroxide and retard the dissolution of calcium hydroxide into the solution. that amorphous calcium carbonate is unstable in the aqueous solution and crystallizes finally to calcite by the through-solution reaction. While amorphous calcium carbonate crystallizes into chain-like calcite, the conductivity values are recovered rapidly and the apparent viscosity of slurry containing higher concentration of calcium hydroxide increase. At below pH 9.5, chain-like calcite separates into individual particles to form precipitated calcium carbonate. The formation and synthetic temperature range of amorphous calcium carbonate is most suitable a primary decreasing step(a-step) at $15^{\circ}C$ in the electrical conductometry.

Effect of Aotomatic Scale Removal System for Piping in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning System (냉동·공조기 배관내 스케일 자동제거장치의 효과)

  • In this study, we developed a system that automatically removes the scale in the piping by using electrolysis principle in order to solve the cooling performance of the refrigeration and air conditioning system by acting as heat resistance in the heat transfer process by forming the scale in the heat exchanger for refrigeration air conditioning. We want to check the performance through experiments. Therefore, by circulating the treated water using the principle of electrolysis without stopping the system, Ca, Mg and $SiO_2$ are precipitated in the form of solids and discharged to the outside of the pipe system, thereby preventing scale formation in the pipe and removing the scale. Thereby maintaining the heat transfer performance of the pipe. As a result of the experiment, the heat transfer rate of the scaled pipe was 86.66% when the heat transfer rate of the new pipe was 100, and the heat transfer rate was recovered to 90.5% when the scaled pipe was operated for 1 month. The heat transfer rate recovered to 97.86% when driving for two months and to 98.72% for three months. It was confirmed that the scaling effect of the scale formed in the piping was understood in a relatively short experiment period, and the heat transfer performance was also influenced.

  • This study focused on the synthesis of the nickel hydroxide using ammonium sulfate in leaching solution from waste nickel-cadmium batteries. The effect of pH, temperature and the input amount of ammonium sulfate in leaching solution was investigated. The ammonium nickel sulfate with high purity was obtained in acidic leaching solution and the solution temperature of $60^{\circ}C$. The suitable molar ratio of the input amount of ammonium sulfate to nickel in solution is 2:1. The impurity about 1.4 at.% of Cd was included in the nickel hydroxide precipitates when ammonium nickel sulfate was used. At the process using sodium sulfide which precipitates the cadmium in solution, nickel and iron compounds were precipitated together.

Ice Melting Capacity Evaluation of Applicable Materials of De-icing Fluid for High Speed Railway Rolling Stock (고속철도차량용 제빙액으로의 적용가능물질에 대한 융빙성능 평가)

  • In winter season, the snow and ice accretion on the bottom of the high speed railway rolling stock and boogie part has fallen at a high speed from the ballast section (gravel section for the transmission of the rolling stock load received by sleepers and fixing sleepers), causing the gravel to be scattered, thereby damaging the railway rolling stock structures and facilities. In order to solve these problems, the gravel scattering prevention net, manual de-icing, and movable hot air machine were used, but their efficiency was low. For the more efficient de-icing than ever before, an optimum material for de-icing fluid for high speed railway rolling stock was developed by evaluating the ice melting capacity, kinematic viscosity, evaporation of the material used as a chemical de-icing fluid. Four kinds of organic acid salts (sodium formate, sodium acetate, potassium formate and potassium acetate) and two different alcohols (propylene glycol, glycerol) were used as evaluation materials. Potassium formate, potassium acetate, and propylene glycol had similar ice melting capacities in the indoor test, but the propylene glycol showed the best ice melting capacity in spraying the system simulation test. This is because the kinematic viscosity of propylene glycol was 2.989029 St, which is higher than those of other materials therefore, it could stay longer on the ice and de-icing. In addition, potassium formate and potassium acetate were difficult to be used since the crystals precipitated and adversely affected the appearance of the rolling stock. The propylene glycol is the most optimum as an de-icing fluid for the high speed railway rolling stock.
