  • The literature may be divided into two broad categories : primary and secondary literature. Primary literature comprises documents which contain the full text of the author's work. On the other hand secondary literature, such as indexes, abstracts, bibliographies reviews and surveys, provides signposts to the primary literature. This paper intended to examine and analyze the relationship between primary and secondary literature through the previous research and the theory, and the actual study which compared it with the lists of journals in three secondary literatures: Library and Information Science Abstracts(LISA). 1998; Library Literature (LL), 1998; Information Science Abstracts (ISA), 1998. Some of the problem involved in the study of journal overlap and coverage patterns of secondary services are discussed. Conclusions are drawn about the impact on library and information science selection policies and organization of library collections.

  • This study investigates the development path and intellectual structure of data literacy research, aiming to identify emerging topics in the field. A comprehensive search for data literacy-related articles on the Web of Science reveals that the field is primarily concentrated in Education & Educational Research and Information Science & Library Science, accounting for nearly 60% of the total. Citation network analysis, employing the PageRank algorithm, identifies key papers with high citation impact across various topics. To accurately trace the development path of data literacy research, an enhanced PageRank main path algorithm is developed, which overcomes the limitations of existing methods confined to the Education & Educational Research field. Keyword bibliographic coupling analysis is employed to unravel the intellectual structure of data literacy research. Utilizing the PNNC algorithm, the detailed structure and clusters of the derived keyword bibliographic coupling network are revealed, including two large clusters, one with two smaller clusters and the other with five smaller clusters. The growth index and mean publishing year of each keyword and cluster are measured to pinpoint emerging topics. The analysis highlights the emergence of critical data literacy for social justice in higher education amidst the ongoing pandemic and the rise of AI chatbots. The enhanced PageRank main path algorithm, developed in this study, demonstrates its effectiveness in identifying parallel research streams developing across different fields.

  • A book review expands readers' choice of resources by providing them with the contents and bibliographic data of various books. It also functions as a reader support service designed to enrich their reading experiences. In particular, in the field of children's reading, literary devices are used to convey knowledge and information to children. Therefore, a review for a children's book should help children follow a book with further readings so that they can expand their literary imagination through comparative reading. In light of the above, this study looks into the case of a children's story entitled Little Red Riding Hood to identify the points that should be addressed in the "Literature Comparison" section of a book review in order to suggest further readings to readers. First, the review should provide an objective description of the content of Little Red Riding Hood. Second, it should explain the literary value of the reviewed book and the discourse that surrounds it so as to analyze its unique features that separate it from other literary works. Third, the review should provide bibliographic information on other works that use narrative structures adapted from those of Little Red Riding Hood. Fourth, it should broaden readers' choice and access by introducing, if any, works adapted from Little Red Riding Hood into other media.

  • In this study, we analyzed the research trend of social network analysis. We investigated how this topic can be linked to the information science. We analyzed 163 articles that were retrieved from searching "social network analysis" in the keyword search field from 2000 to 2009. The study revealed the fast growth of the research of social network analysis in recent years. Also, the study showed that social network analysis has been applied to many cognate disciplines including management science, education science, and administration science. Finally, the study showed that social network analysis is a field equally important to information science as to other disciplines. Particularly, the study demonstrated that social network analysis can be applied to bibliometrics, including webmetrics.

  • Since the 1990s, informetrics has grown in popularity among information scientists. Today it is a general discipline that comprises all kinds of metrics, including bibliometrics and scientometrics. To illustrate the dynamic progress of this field, this study aims to identify the structure and infrastructure of the informetrics literature using statistical and profiling methods. Informetrics literature was obtained from the Web of Knowledge for the years 2001-2010. The selected articles contain least one of these keywords: informetrics', bibliometrics', scientometrics', webometrics', and citation analysis.' Noteworthy publication patterns of major countries were identified by a statistical method. Intellectual structure analysis shows major research areas, authors, and journals.

  • Objectives : On the internet, the bibliographic information service systems of the theses for the degree of Korean medicine(KMT) have been builded by the National assembly library, the National library of Korea and the eleven central libraries of eleven colleges of Korean medicine in Korea(KMU). Because there was a lot of information of Korean medicinal research & development(R&D) in those KMT, the MKT are most valuable in the Korean medicinal R&D. This study was carried out to understand and analyze the information service systems of the theses of Korean medicine provided by those libraries. Methods : We collected the bibliographic information of KMT on the internet in the National assembly library, the National Library of Korea, KMU, and some references of KMT, and then made a comparison between the bibliographic information of KMT and those KMU about the simpleness of searching and the accuracy of the contents. Results : Many of the Korean medicinal information service systems of KMU are poor on the simpleness of searching and the accuracy of the contents. On the accuracy of the contents, the bibliographic information service systems of KMT mistakes about 20% because of misusing of a Chinese character, a rule of the initial sound of a syllable of the Korean alphabet, and an erroro of the term day on KMT.
