  • This study aims to develop the plastic suspension assembly which is installed on inside of vehicle seat and supports passenger's back to provide the comfortable feeling. This design is the suspension structure to support the back equally and assemble seat back frame and plastic suspension effectively. The parts of suspension are designed by considering the property of body pressure distribution. As analysis values are approached to measured values by comparing the deformations in the cases of existed spring suspension and developed plastic suspension, the optimum design can be established.

  • Automotive suspension mat is installed at seat back frame. As the back part of passenger is aupported by suspension mat, it is prevented from the pressure concentration. The tired feeling at driving is minimized and the comfortable feeling is increased. In this study, vibration and fatigue are analyzed with plastic suspension mat modelled by 3 Dimension. By the analysis result, the natural frequency becomes 30 Hz with life of $10^6$ cycle and safety factor of 1.6055. Development time and evaluation cost can be cut down by utilizing this analytical technique.

  • This study investigates the plastic suspension assembly which is installed on inside of vehicle seat and support passenger's back to supply the comfortable ride performance. It aims to develop the structural design in order to support driver's back uniformly and assemble seat back frame with plastic suspension effectively. The part of suspension is designed by considering the body pressure distribution of driver and it has the same size as the practical model on simulation analysis. It is confirmed that the analysis result of plastic suspension approaches the practical measured values and the better body pressure distribution can be obtained as compared with the existing wire type.

  • The paper examines the ride performance enhancement that can be obtained by applying hydraulic semiactive vibration absorbers(SAVa) to alter the compliance characteristics of the seat/wheel suspension system. The work relies on a consistent model of the (nonlinear) hydrodynamics of the SAVA. A recently developed Lyapunov control scheme is used to provide regulation.. The performance is first examined assuming a quarter car with a seat/seat mounted mass. The paper then employs a quarter car/seat with a two mass ISO model of the seated human . The simulated results indicated that a reduction of 45% of the peak vertical acceleration is achievable with new system.

  • This study analyzed air suspension seat frame structure and vibration for 50 - 180 kg mass driver to obtain optimum seat design parameter values for the equivalent spring constant and damping coefficient. Various air suspension seat frames were designed following WTS-003 and KS B 6839 standards, and then evaluated using finite elements analysis. Resonance and vibration tests were performed according to the 78/764/EEC standard.

  • Injection molding process is one of the popular manufacturing methods to produce plastic parts with high efficiency and low cost. Ball seat for automobile suspension is made by an injection molding process as a part to support pivot function of ball joint consisted of ball stud and housing. It is necessary for a ball seat to have a dimensional stability in the three dimensional inner area to be contacted with ball stud. In this paper, the dimensional stability of inner surface is indirectly analyzed by checking the difference of inner diameter around the circumferential direction and the thickness variation at the top part of ball seat. Measurement was performed by using the coordinate measuring machine and the fixture to hold ball seat. Optimization of injection molding processes such as injection time, cooling time and temperatures of cylinder barrel was derived to reduce the difference of inner diameter and the thickness variation at the top part of ball seat based on the Taguchi method.

  • This paper presents the dynamic parameter design optimization of a suspension seat system using the genetic algorithm. At first, an equivalent 1-D.O.F. mass-spring-damper model of a suspension seat system was constructed for the purpose of its vibration analysis. Vertical vibration response and transmissibility of the equivalent model due to base excitations, which are defined in the ISO's seat vibration test codes, were computed. Furthermore, seat vibration test, that is ISO's damping test, was carried out in order to investigate the validity of the equivalent suspension seat model. Both analytical and experimental results showed good agreement each other. For the design optimization, the acceleration transmissibility of the suspension seat model was adopted as an object function. A simple genetic algorithm was used to search the optimum values of the design variables, suspension stiffness and damping coefficient. Finally, vibration ride performance test results showed that the optimum suspension parameters gives the lowest vibration transmissibility. Accordingly the genetic algorithm and the equivalent suspension seat modelling can be successfully adopted in the vibration ride quality optimization of a suspension seat system.
