A Study Comparing Public and Medical Librarians' Perceptions of Evaluation Guidelines for Health & Medical Information (건강정보원 평가기준에 대한 공공도서관 및 의학도서관 사서간 인식비교 연구)

  • Providing reliable and high quality information sources will be one of the basic skills of librarians in the future. Therefore, this study proposed evaluation criteria for health-related information sources based on a survey of public and medical librarians. As a result, a total of 21 items were selected as evaluation items, in three groups. The first, the health information content group, had 13 evaluation items, including accuracy, recency, medical expertise, regular updates, consideration of audience, objectivity, ease of understanding, plain (non-scientific or technical) language, completeness, relevance to the topic, verifiability, citation of information sources, and specification of precautions or warnings. The second group, the health-information sources group, had 5 evaluation items including clarity of health information for achieving its purpose, clarification of the responsibility of health information, compliance to the privacy policy, fairness of health information providers, and ethics of health information providers. The third group was the health-information website design group, and featured 4 evaluation criteria: ease of access, search capabilities, website ease of use, and query-response services.

Digital Library Evaluation Criteria: What do Users Want? (디지털 도서관 평가기준: 이용자들이 원하는 것은 무엇인가?)

  • Criteria for evaluating digital libraries have been suggested in prior studies, but limited research has been done to understand users' perceptions of evaluation criteria. This study investigates users' opinions of the importance of digital library evaluation criteria. Thirty user participants, including 10 faculty members and 20 students, were recruited from five universities across the United States. They were asked to rate the importance of evaluation criteria in eight dimensions (e.g. collections, information organization, context, etc.). The results demonstrate that users care about evaluation criteria related to the use and quality of collection and services rather than the operation of digital libraries. The findings of this study are relevant to the development of user-centered digital libraries and associated evaluation frameworks through the incorporation of unique users' needs and preferences.

The Classification of the Service Quality Elements in the Hospital Using the Kano Model (Kano 모형을 이용한 병원의 서비스 품질 요소의 분류 - 인천, 경기남부지역 대학병원을 중심 -)

  • This study aims at providing necessary informations to decide what services would be conducted preferentially in the hospital by limited resources. So this study revalued the customer's perception about the qualities of the hospital services by the Kano Model and examined the customer satisfaction coefficients suggested by Timko. The researcher conducted a survey from the patients of the 4 university hospitals in Incheon and southern Gyeonggi Province In 2008. The results of this study can be summarized as follows; It was found that the total 31 items are could be classified into 7 attractive quality elements, 22 one-dimensional quality elements and 2 indifferent quality elements, while the natural quality element wasn't found. The highest score element of the customer's satisfaction coefficients was identified as easy parking(0.69) and the lowest score item was the offer of the hospital newsletter and information about medical care(0.47). When the hospital service was not sufficient to the customer, the highest score element of the customer's dissatisfaction coefficients was proved the convenient ward and facilities(-0.75) and the lowest score item was the buses running to the entrance of the hospital(-0.32). Also it was found that the attractive quality elements appraised by the preceding study were revalued the one-dimensional quality elements. The reason was because the customer's expectation on the services was changed high, as time went by.

The Effect of Medical Service Quality and Hospital's Reputation on Customer Satisfaction, Repurchase Intention, and Negative Word of Mouth as to Disease Severity (질병의 중증도에 따른 의료서비스 품질과 병원의 명성이 고객만족과 재구매의도, 그리고 부정적 구전에 미치는 영향)

  • This model was empirically developed to test the effect of medical service quality and hospital's reputation on customer satisfaction, repurchase intention, and negative word of mouth as to disease severity. The model was tested in the context of the hospital industry. The findings are as follows. First, medical service provider's functional quality and technical service quality have significant effect on customer satisfaction. Second, hospital's reputation has positive(+) effect on customer satisfaction and significant negative effect on negative word of mouth. Third, customer satisfaction with medical service quality has significantly positive effect on customer's repurchase intention and has negative(-) effect on customer's negative word of mouth. Furthermore, customer's negative word of mouth has negative effect on their repurchase intention. Fourth, as to different disease severity, medical service quality and hospital's reputation have different effect on customer satisfaction, repurchase intention, and negative word of mouth. When patients get slightly ill, functional service quality and technical service quality have direct influence on customer satisfaction which has positive influence on repurchase intention and negative influence on negative word of mouth. Finally, negative word of mouth has negative effect on customer's repurchase intention. However, while hospital's reputation doesn't have effect on customer satisfaction, the reputation has significantly negative effect on negative word of mouth. When patients get seriously ill, only functional service quality has positive effect on customer satisfaction which influences on customer's repurchase intention and negatively influences on negative word of mouth. On the contrary, negative word of mouth doesn't influence on customer's repurchase intention as patients want to treat serious diseases in the large general hospitals even though negative word of mouth is known to them.

Analysis of the Service Quality Provided by Foodserice Workers in Restaurants (외식업체의 직원이 제공하는 서비스 품질에 영향을 미치는 요인 분석)

  • Consistently delivering good service quality is a complex and dynamic process. In this matter, service differs from tangible products and is highly dependent on the business and service provider. Therefore, efficiently managing the process of delivering service quality can contribute to profits for organization and satisfaction to customers. This study was performed to define service quality, and to investigate the personal and operational characteristics that impacts the service quality provided by foodservice provider. The responses from 278 foodservice providers and 427 customers in 82 fast-food and family restaurants were used in this analysis. Descriptive, Factor Analysis, T-test, ANOVA, and Correlation Analysis were used for statistical Analysis. The Results of this study were as follows : 1) The perception of foodservice provider was significantly higher than that of the customers in most of the 21 service quality attributes. 2) The 6 dimensions derived from Factor Analysis explained 56.8% for service quality. 3) Among the personal characteristics of the foodservice provider, the level of education and the position in the job led to a significant difference in some of the service qualities. 4) The type of restaurant played an important role in foodservice providers'perception of service quality. 5) Month since opening had a negative correlation with 'Atmosphere' and a positive correlation with 'Reputation', while the number of seats showed a positive correlation with 'Atmosphere' and a negative correlation with 'Food'and 'Convenience'. 6) In general, the characteristics of sales had a positive correlation with service quality. 7) The proportion of part-time employees showed a negative correlation with 'Atmosphere' and 'Food', and a positive correlation with 'Reputation'.

  • Recent works on multiuser transmission techniques have shown that the linear growth of capacity in single user MIMO system can be translated to the multiuser MIMO scenario as well. In this paper, we propose a method pursuing performance gain of vector perturbation in multiuser downlink systems. Instead of employing maximum number of mobile users for communication, we use small part of them as virtual users for improving reliability of users participating communication. By controlling parameters of virtual users including information and perturbation vector, we obtain considerable improvement in the effective SNR, resulting in large gain in bit error rate performance. Simulation results on the realistic multiuser downlink systems show that the proposed method brings substantial performance gain over the standard vector perturbation with marginal overhead in computations.

An Evaluation of the Foodservice Quality and Management of Preschool Foodservice Establishments by IPA - Focusing on Parents of Preschoolers in Metropolitan Area of Korea, China and Japan - (IPA분석을 통한 미취학 아동 급식의 급식서비스 품질특성 및 급식운영 평가 - 한국·중국·일본의 미취학 아동을 자녀로 둔 부모를 대상으로 -)

  • This study was targeted on the Korean, Chinese, and Japanese parents of preschoolers to investigate the importance and satisfaction of foodservice quality and the importance and performance of foodservice management of the preschool foodservice establishments. The present study conducted a survey on 390 randomly chosen parents of preschoolers (130 Korean, 130 Chinese, and 130 Japanese). Respondents' importance-satisfaction of foodservice quality characteristics and their importance-performance of foodservice management were measured. In order to test for differences between the groups, paired t-test, one way ANOVA, and IPA (Importance-Performance Analysis) were performed. The results were as follows. The importance of foodservice quality was significantly higher than the satisfaction on all items, according to the parents of Korea, China, and Japan. The importance of foodservice quality was higher in Korean parents than in Chinese and Japanese parents. According to ISA results with foodservice quality characteristics, the characteristics with relatively low satisfaction but high importance (II quadrant) was 'Diversity of menu' in both Korean and Chinese parents, and 'Sanitation of tables and chairs' in both Korean and Japanese parents. The importance of foodservice management was significantly higher than performance on all items in Korean, Chinese and Japanese parents. The performance of foodservice management was higher in Chinese than in Japanese and Korean parents. According to IPA results with foodservice management, the management with relatively low performance but high importance (II quadrant) was 'Preparation' in Korean parents, and 'Facility and equipment' in Japanese parents. Therefore, the items with relatively low satisfaction (performance) and high importance should be well-managed.

  • Products and/or services should be objectively verified in terms of the technological and use-conditional considerations before entering a market. Every organization or company tries to find the better procedure and method for checking the core needs of customers based on their experience in the market and looks for continuous ways to evaluate the power of products and services(PoP). They also prefer the overall evaluation of indices that could reflect various customer needs, rather than a separate evaluation index for each characteristic of the product or service. S. Ko (2008) proposes a Multi-characteristics Sigma Level(MSL) that can simultaneously evaluate many characteristics of a product or service. In this research, using MSL and a new Blue Ocean Index(BOI), an application of NPS, mobile phone field test is considered from a practical and statistical point of view.

A Study on the Effects of the Service Quality of the Radiology Department on The Medical Customer Satisfaction (영상의학과 서비스 품질이 의료소비자 만족에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine how much the service quality of the radiology department at the hospital is influential to customers' satisfaction and intents of reusing the department and informing it to others. For the purpose, this researcher surveyed 201 patients whon used the radiology department at the hospital. Findings of the study can be summarized as follows. First, the surveyed patients' perceptions of the service quality of the radiology department in accordance with their demographic characteristics were investigated to find that among the subjects, women were perceiving the radiological technician as more kind than men were. Among the subjects, women were higher in customer satisfaction about the service quality of the radiology department and intents of reusing the department and informing it to others than men were. Second, out of factors of the radiology department's service quality, those who were significantly affecting customer satisfaction included waiting time for treatment at the department, kindness of the radiological technician, environment of the radiography room and facilities of the department. Third, customer satisfaction was significantly affecting the intent of reuse. Fourth, customer satisfaction was significantly influencing the intent of informing to others. In other words, the more customers are satisfied with the service quality of the radiology department, the more they are likely to inform the department to others and reuse it. In conclusion, the sustainable growth and effective management of the medical institution requires improving the service quality of its department of radiology and thereon maximizing customer satisfaction.

  • Jeju soybean industry is not competitive in areas of food-safety, quality, price, and bargaining power. Also, the processing products of soybean are simply-processed product. They are short of diversified product. The size of processing company is very small. The purpose of this study is to review and suggest programs for the construction and management of a network among farmhouseholds, agricultural cooperatives, manufacturing companies, related research institutes, and the local government, which are integrated vertically, horizontally and systematically. Jeju soybean cluster consists of production system, research & development system, industrial-support system, practical technology-support system, and center of operation. This system will help farmers get stable sales market & income. Also, It will help farmers produce the production of environment-friendly agricultural raw products.
