  • Most electronic chassis control systems until today have been designed with optimization on its own performance. However, According to the increase of the interest regarding a vehicle safety and development of information technique, the integration technique of current chassis systems is being emphasized. Each enterprise proposed it with name of GCC(Global Chassis Control) or UCC(Unified Chassis Control). This study realizes control algorithm of suspension and brake by using the vehicle model of low degree of freedom as the primary stage of realization of integrated chassis control system. The proposed algorithm build the simulation environment connected to the CarSim having full vehicle model of 27 degree of freedom for raising the thrust of results

  • Creep groan noise occurs at low frequencies immediately after releasing brake pressure or when a car stops. This noise can be used to predict problems in not only the brake system but also the vehicle system. Because of its complexity, it is difficult to determine its characteristics. Therefore, most improvements are conducted by changing the brake pad, and it still remains difficult to conduct a test using a vehicle. In this study, the characteristics of creep groan noise and the effects from a vehicle system are investigated by using vehicles and an NVH chassis-dynamometer through various tests. A new evaluation method for creep groan noise by using a vehicle is proposed, and the possibility of reduction schemes from the viewpoint of the vehicle system is confirmed from the results mentioned above.

  • In this study, a procedure is presented for the dynamic analysis of a multibody tracked vehicle system. the planner tracked vehicle model used in this investigation is assumed to consist of two kinematically decoupled subsystems, i.e., the chassis subsys- tem and track sub-system. The chassis subsystem includes the chassis frame, sprocket, idler and rollers, while the track subsystem is represented as a closed kinematic chain consisting of rigid links interconnected by revolute joints. The recursive kinematic and dynamic formulation module of the vehicle will be developed.

  • In this study, modeling and analysis procedure for the dynamic analysis of a high mobility tracked vehicle system were studied. The vehicle model used in this investigation is assumed to be consist of two kinematically decoupled subsystems. The chassis subsystem consists of chassis frame, sprocket, support rollers, road wheels, idler wheel, road wheel arms and idle wheel arm, while the track subsystem is represented as a closed kinematic chain consisting of track links and end connectors interconnected by revolute joints with bushing. Nonlinear contact force module describing the interaction between track link, and sprocket, idler wheel, road wheel, support roller, ground was used. The effects of road wheel arms and idler wheel arm due to tension adjuster are also considered.

  • In this paper, a novel type of an integrated controller is designed for vehicles equipped with active classis systems to improve vehicle stability, handling, and ride comfort. The hybrid fuzzy logic controller consists of a fuzzy logic controller, a skyhook controller, an attitude controller, and a roll moment distribution controller, and these controllers are used with a proper combination which is determined by the integrated control logic based on driving conditions of a vehicle. It is shown by simulations using MATRIXx/SYSTEMBBUILD software that ride comfort, handling, and active safety are improved for a 16 degree-of-freedom vehicle dynamic model.

  • This paper describes an integrated chassis control for a maneuverability, a lateral stability and a rollover prevention of a vehicle by the using of the ESC and AFS. The integrated chassis control system consists of a supervisor, control algorithms and a coordinator. From the measured and estimation signals, the supervisor determines the vehicle driving situation about the lateral stability and rollover prevention. The control algorithms determine a desired yaw moment for lateral stability and a desired longitudinal force for the rollover prevention. In order to apply the control inputs, the coordinator determines a brake and active front steering inputs optimally based on the current status of the subject vehicle. To improve the reliability and to reduce the operating load of the proposed control algorithms, a multi-core ECU platform is used in this system. For the evaluation of this system, a closed loop simulations with driver-vehicle-controller system were conducted to investigate the performance of the proposed control strategy.

  • We conducted a dynamic analysis of an underwater test collector, which operates on extremely soft soil of deep-seafloor. The underwater test collector consists of nodule pick-up device, vehicle tracks, nodule crusher, loading frame and electric-electronic system. The weight of underwater test collector is about 8600 kg. The average normal pressure, that the underwater test collector supports, is about 6.0 kPa. The dynamic analysis model of underwater test collector is developed using commercial software RecurDyn-LM and Visual Fortran 90. A terramechanics model of extremely soft soil is implemented to the software based on user-written subroutine and applied to the dynamic analysis of the underwater test collector model. The dynamic responses of test collector are studied with respect to track velocities, terrain conditions, and coefficients of added mass and drag.
