Mass Rearing Conditions for the Production of Gryllus bimaculatus De Geer (Orthoptera: Gryllidae) (쌍별귀뚜라미(메뚜기목: 귀뚜라미과)의 실내 대량사육 조건)

  • This study was evaluated to increase the production efficiency of Gryllus bimaculatus De Geer, which are recently increasing attention as industrial insects in Korea. In this study, the hatching rate and larval period were investigated along with temperature and humidity, as well as the survival rate and ovipositional temperatures along with rearing density. The optimum relative humidity for hatching was highest at 90%, which shows the hatching rate of 90%. The highest hatching rate was 98.3% at $20^{\circ}C$. The hatching period was shortest at $35^{\circ}C$ incubation, which shows 7.1 days in average. The survival rate at 3,000-20,000 individuals in the breeding container was 34-18% after rearing for 35 days. In the effect test of feeding vegetables, the survival rate was 1.8 times and the biomass weight 2.5 times higher than that of normal individuals respectively. The number of laying eggs by temperature was highest at $25^{\circ}C$, which shows 1,710 eggs after reading for 30 days.

The Effects of Beak Trimming and Crossbreeding-Combinations on the Productive Performance and Stress Response Levels of Korean Native Chickens (한국 토종닭에 있어 부리 다듬기 및 교배조합이 생산능력과 스트레스 반응 정도에 미치는 영향)

  • This study aimed to investigate the effects of beak trimming and crossbreeding-combinations on the productive performance and stress response levels of Korean native chickens. The study divided 248 individuals from six crossbreeding-combinations into two groups: one underwent beak trimming, and the other did not. The survival rate, body weight, egg production rate, egg quality, feather damage score, HSP-70 gene expression level, H/L ratio, and intracellular DNA damage rate were measured and analyzed. The results showed that the beak-trimmed group had significantly higher survival rates and hen-housed egg production compared to the non-beak-trimmed group (P<0.05). Feather damage and DNA damage rates were significantly lower in the beak-trimmed group (P<0.05). On the other hand, there were no significant differences between the two groups in adult body weight, hen-day egg production, egg quality, HSP-70 gene expression level, and H/L ratio. Among the crossbreeding-combinations, there were significant differences in survival rate, body weight, feather damage score, egg quality, and DNA damage rate (P<0.05), while egg production rate, HSP-70 gene expression level, and H/L ratio showed no significant differences. There was an interaction between beak trimming and crossbreeding-combinations in some traits. In conclusion, beak trimming in Korean native chickens has a positive impact on productive performance, and in terms of stress response, beak trimming may not act as a stress factor or may even reduce stress after the growing period. Furthermore, there were differences in productive performance and stress response levels among crossbreeding-combinations, but the effects of beak trimming were similar across these combinations.

Production Performances and Heterosis Effects of Korean Native Chicken Breed Combinations by Diallel Crossing Test (토종 종계 이면교배조합 시험에 따른 생산능력 및 잡종강세효과)

  • This study was conducted to establish new synthetic lines of Korean Native Chicken. We performed $5{\times}5$ diallel crossings with GPS lines of Korean Native Chicken for the selection of parent stock. The production traits including viability, body weight, age at first egg laying, egg weight, hen-day egg production, and hen-housed egg production were measured and analyzed for 25 crosses with 1,157 hens. The heterosis effects of these traits were also estimated. The results showed that the average survival rate during laying periods was 67.7% in the pure lines and 77.1% in the crosses. The 25 cross combinations were shown to be distinctly divided into three groups according to body weight; nine crosses in the high-weight group, 12 crosses in the medium-weight group and four crosses in the light-weight group. The average body weight at 12 weeks of age was $1,873.8{\pm}43.0g$ in the high group, $1,595.4{\pm}56.6g$ in the medium group and $1,152.7{\pm}24.7g$ in the light group, and $1,560.2{\pm}339.3g$ in the pure lines and $1,640.9{\pm}213.7g$ in the crosses. In terms of egg production performance, the age at first egg laying was $139.7{\pm}4.9$ days in the pure lines and $135.8{\pm}5.1$ days in the crosses. The average egg weight was $52.3{\pm}1.6g$ in the pure line and $53.0{\pm}1.6g$ in the crosses. The average hen-housed egg production from 20 to 40 weeks was $58.3{\pm}12.9$ eggs in the pure line and $69.2{\pm}10.4$ eggs in the crosses. The average heterosis effect was 16.9% for survival rate, 5.4% for body weight at 12 weeks, -2.7% for age at first egg laying, 1.3% for egg weight, and 14.3% for hen-day egg production. Generally, the heterosis effect for viability and egg production traits was higher than that for growth trait. On the basis of these results, it is expected that the selection of the HF combination, which had excellent growth performance, is the most desirable as the paternal strain, and the selection of GW and FW combinations, which had excellent laying performance, are preferable as the maternal strain.

  • To induce an early spawning, the adult red sea bream, Pagrus major, were exposed to predesignated condition of photoperiod and water temperature during February 21 to June 30, 1988. Spawning began from April 20, a month earlier than that in the natural condition, when the photoperiod and water temperature were controlled at 14L: l0D and $17.0^{\circ}C$, respectively, and the spawning continued until June 15, 1988. There were no particular differences between fish under the controlled condition and those in natural condition in terms of the fertilization rate, surface floating rate, the number of oil glouble and the hatching rate.

  • 전남대학교 수의과대학에서는 조류 blue-green algae를 먹이로 하여 간질의 중간숙주인 애기물달팽이를 실험실에서 유지시켜 왔으나 조류의 배양에 어려움이 많아서 보다 간편하면서 달팽이의 번식에도 좋은 방법을 고안하고자 노력하였다. $28.5{\times}17{\times}18cm$ 크기의 유리수조에 모래를 1.5cm 높이로 깔고 10개의 꼬막껍질을 그 위에 올려놓은 다음 4리터의 증류수를 부어넣었다. 야외에서 채집한 달팽이의 난괴를 부화시켜 얻은 0.63cm 크기의 어린 달팽이 45마리를 세 그룹으로 나누어 세 개의 수조에서 $20^{\circ}C$의 온도를 유지하면서 사육하였고 먹이로 상추잎을 넣어주었다. 매주 수조바닥의 물 $2{\ell}$를 흡인하여 갈아주면서 상추잎을 바꿔넣었고, 계속해서 공기를 통과시켜 산소를 공급하였다. 이와 동일한 방법으로 실험실에서 조류로 사육하던 17대의 달팽이를 사육하여 그 성적을 비교하였던 바 야외에서 채집한 달팽이의 성장률이 실험실에 적응된 것들에 비하여 약간 떨어졌으나 생존율이나 산란율에서는 큰 차이가 인정되지 않았다. 그래서 1년이 넘도록 이 방법으로 달팽이를 사육하면서 간질의 피낭유충을 생산하고 있다. 꼬막껍질은 서서히 분해하면서 달팽이의 각을 형성하는 물질을 제공하여 생존율을 높게 한 것으로 생각된다. 그리고 수조를 햇볕이 드는 창문 가까이에 놓아두었기 때문에 조류가 자생하여 적은 양이나마 달팽이의 먹이가 되었을 것으로 보인다.

Effect of Housing Systems of Cage and Floor on the Production Performance and Stress Response in Layer (계사 사육 형태가 산란계의 생산성과 스트레스 반응에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the effects of housing systems on the productivity and physiological response as stress indicators in White Leghorn chickens. The chickens subjected to the conventional cages had a significantly lower viability, hen-housed egg production, egg weight and body weight compared with those to the floor pens. However, the hens housed in the conventional cages had a shorter day of the first egg and a greater egg quality compared with those housed in the floor pens. In addition, this study was also investigated to identify biological markers for assessing the physiological response of chickens under stress conditions. As biological markers, the amount of telomeric DNA was analyzed by quantitative fluorescent in situ hybridization on the nuclei of cells. The DNA damage rate of lymphocytes was also quantified by the comet assay. The amount of telomeric DNA of the lymphocytes, kidney and spleen was significantly higher in the chickens under floor pens than those under conventional cages. The DNA damage also increased in chickens raised under conventional cages, as compared to the chickens under floor pens. As results, we conclude that the chickens housed in conventional cages have a greater stressful status than those housed in floor pens.

Comparison of the Colony Development of the Bumblebees, Bombus terrestris Produced from Domestic and Foreign Bumblebees Companies (국내 및 국외 뒤영벌 생산업체별 서양뒤영벌(Bombus terrestris)의 봉세발달 비교)

  • We compared colony development and survival rate after artificial hibernation between the bumblebees, Bombus terrestris, produced from domestic and foreign companies. The number of worker and queen produced from foundation colony of three domestic and one foreign companies was 232.4-270.8 and 62.0-181.8, respectively, but there was no statistical difference. In colony development of B. terrestris queens which were terminated diapause by $CO_2$ narcosis at different companies, oviposition rate, colony foundation and progeny-queen production of bumblebees produced from domestic companies were superior to those from foreign company. But foreign company in the number of worker and queen was superior to domestic companies. On the other hand, survival rate and colony development of B. terrestris queens, which were terminated diapause by artificial hibernation at three domestic and two foreign companies, were no significant differences. These results indicate that oviposition, colony foundation, progeny-queen production, and survival rate after artificial hibernation showed no differences between the bumblebees produced from domestic and foreign companies.

1세포기 닭 수정란의 체외배양과 대리난각 배양에 있어서 수정란의 조건과 대리난각의 조건이 부화율에 미치는 영향

  • 조류의 배자는 포유류의 배자처럼 모체로부터 영양분을 공급받는 것이 아니라 알속에 저장되어 있는 영양물질로 발육한다. 배자의 발육은 대부분 체외에서 진행된다. 난자는 배란된 후 수정되어 난관팽대부에서 1세포기 수정란이 된다. 그 후 난관협부로 이동하여 최초로 분열이 일어나 배자의 발육이 진행되고, 산란시에는 세포수가 약6만여 개에 달한다. 따라서 수정란에 유전조작기법을 사용하기 위해서는 모체의 난관속에서 일어나는 배발생과 난각속에서 일어나는 개체발생을 위한 체외배양법과 대리난각 배양법이 확립되어 있어야 한다. 그와 같은 기술은 닭 수정란의 배 발생 관찰 및 분석과 유용한 물질을 생산하기 위한 형질전환 가금 연구에 중요한 기술로 사용되고 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 1세포기 닭 수정란의 체외배양과 대리난각 배양에 있어서 수정란의 조건과 대리난각의 조건이 배자의 생존율과 부화율에 미치는 영향을 조사하여 체외배양과 대리난각 배양에 의한 병아리 생산 효율을 제고하기 위한 기초자료를 얻고자 실시하였다. 주요 조사 항목은 수정란의 채란위치, 배자의 발생단계, 수정란의 무게, 대리난각용 계란의 보존 기간, 대리난각의 두께, 대리난각 두께의 감소율, 대리난각의 크기 등을 조사하여 배자의 생존율과 부화율에 미치는 영향에 대하여 조사하였다. 본 실험의 결과는 초기 발생이 빠른 배자가 생존율과 부화율이 높았으며, 본 실험에 사용한 대리난각용 계란의 보관기간이 짧을수록 배자의 생존율과 부화율이 높은 것으로 조사되었다(p<0.05). 그러나 대리난각용 계란의 크기와 대리난각의 두께 차이는 배자의 생존율과 부화율에 큰 영향이 없는 것으로 조사되었다.하였을 때 분할율은 68.0%였으며, 이중 12.0%가 상실배 또는 배반포로 발달하였다. 뿐만 아니라 10% FBS가 첨가된 TCM-199 배양액에 난관상피세포와 공배양을 실시하였을 경우는 72.0%가 분할하였으며, 이중 16.7%가 상실배 또는 배반포로 발달하였다. 이상의 결과로 볼 때 활성화 처리는 ionomycin과 6-DMAP 용액처리가 적합하며, 단위발생란의 체외배양은 보다 적합한 배양조건의 확립이 필요한 것으로 생각된다.icalcium lactate 공동배양은 체외배양에 별다른 영향을 미치지 못하는 것으로 나타났다.생산하는 것을 확인할 수 있었다.4시간에 등급별 회수율이 각각 GI(27.4%), GII(14.7%), GIII(43.2%), GIV(14.7%)로 나타났으며, 46~50시간에는 GI(12.0%), GII(12.0%), GIII(28.0%), GIV(48.0%)로 나타났다. 이상의 결과로 볼 때 미성숙 난자의 회수는 hCG 투여 후 29~34시간이 적합한 것으로 생각된다. 가금의 생산에 있어서 매우 효율적이고 주목할 만한 방법으로 사료된다. 것으로 나타났다.적외선.열풍 복합건조방법이 높게 나타나 이것은 곡물 표면에 원적외선 방사에의한 복사열이 전달되어 열장해를 받았기 때문으로 판단되며, 금후 더 연구하여 적정 열풍온도 및 방사체 크기를 구명해야 할 것이다.으로 보여진다 따라서 옻나무 유래 F는 포유동물의 생식기능에 중요하게 작용하는 것으로 사료된다.된다.정량 분석한 결과이다. 시편의 조성은 33.6 at% U, 66.4 at% O의 결과를 얻었다. 산화물 핵연료의 표면 관찰 및 정량 분석 시험시 시편 표면을 전도

산란계 봄철 사양관리

  • 대한양계협회 닭경제능력검정소에서 실시한 산란계경제능력검정결과를 보면 최근의 산란계 능력은 72주까지 산란지수가 267개로 나타나고 있다. 10년전이 77년 산란계 72주까지의 산란지수 227개에 비하면 18$\%$가 향상되었음을 보여준다. 성계생존율 또한 88.2$\%$에서 92.0$\%$로 약 4$\%$가 향상되었다. 대체적으로 10여년간에 걸쳐 산란계의 능력이 눈에 띌 만큼 향상되었다고 보는데 최근에 산란계 관리가 미흡하여 계군의 산란피크가 80$\%$를 넘기기 어려운 농장이 나타나고 있어 90년도를 향한 봄병아리의 입추시에는 보다 철저한 사양관리를 위한 준비해야 한다.

Spawning Performance, Embryonic Development and Early Viability under Different Salinity Conditions in a Euryhaline Medaka Species, Oryzias dancena (서로 다른 염분도 조건하에서 광염성 송사리 Oryzias dancena의 산란, 발생 및 초기 생존)

  • Effects of different salinity levels on spawning performance, embryonic development and early viability of a euryhaline medaka species, Oryzias dancena, were examined. O. dancena were able to spawn eggs in a wide range of salinity from 0 to 70$^{\circ}/_{\circ\circ}$, however, the spawning frequency was lowered in complete freshwater (0$^{\circ}/_{\circ\circ}$) and in highly salted water (70$^{\circ}/_{\circ\circ}$). Fertilization success was negatively affected when the environmental salinity was higher than the salt concentration found in normal seawater. Embryonic viability and hatching success were also inversely related with the salinity levels. Typical abnormality was observed in developing embryos incubated at high salinities (30, 45 and 60$^{\circ}/_{\circ\circ}$). In addition, the time to hatch was significantly delayed with increasing salinities: peak hatching occurred at 12~14 days post fertilization (dpf) in freshwater and at least at 17 to 18 dpf in 60$^{\circ}/_{\circ\circ}$. Mean survival rates of the hatched larvae up to 7 days post hatching (dph) were at least 97% in salinity levels ranging from 0 to 30$^{\circ}/_{\circ\circ}$. However, larvae reared in 45 and 60$^{\circ}/_{\circ\circ}$ experienced significant mortality, especially in the early phase, resulting in only 75% and 64% survival rates up to 7 dph, respectively.
