We bred a new green-kerneled glutinous rice variety that can be cultivated in the whole area of Korea, because only one native green-kerneled glutinous rice cultivar, "Saengdongchalbyeo", has been cultivated in the southern coastal area due to its late heading. The seeds of "Saengdongchalbyeo" were irradiated with 200 Gy of gamma ray in 1995. A promising mutant variety, "Nogwonchalbyeo" ("Wonnong 17") was selected through line selection and regional yield trials. In particular, the new variety revealed at the earlier mid of August compared to that of "Saengdongchalbyeo", the early of September, and it was considerably tolerant to a field lodging due to its shortened culm length. Also, "Nogwonchalbyeo" had a higher ripened grain ratio and 1,000 grain weight compared to the original variety. The brown grain yield of the new variety was about 5.40 MT/ha, which was 11.3% higher than that of the original variety, in the regional yield trials at 3 different fields during 2000~2001. The brown and milled grains of the new rice variety contained 20 to 65% higher amount of total amino acids, respectively than that of the original and two checks. For chlorophyll -a, -b and total chlorophyll, the new variety showed nearly two-fold higher than the checks, and for the carotenoid, it had 5.3 - 7.6 times higher amount. These results showed that the new variety can be cultivated as a special green-kerneled glutinous rice with high functional compounds.

봄은 따뜻하고, 만물이 생동하고, 모든 인생일들의 시작이 되며, 새로운 희망과 포부를 설계하는 힘찬 동적인 계절이라고 볼 수 있다. 그러나 봄날씨가 따뜻하고 온화한 것만은 아닌것 같아 각종 질병이 발생되기 쉽고 정신적인 면에서도 문제가 많아 특별히 건강관리에 유의하지 않으면 안된다.

Cordyceps and its allies fungi has been described as a secret medicine that gives eternal youth and a long life. Some species of Cordyceps are sources of biochemicals, such ascordycepin, with interesting biological and pharmacological properties. Hence, it has been studied to uncover its pharmacological effect. We attempted to study the formation of fruiting bodies and to develop means of mass production Korean isolate of Paecilomyces tenuipes has been inoculated into silkworms, where it reproduced using culture container, mini-kit successfully. Culture container, mini-kit is composed of a cylinder-shaped body and lid. The container is made of translucent polyethylene terephthalate. The size of the container is $82{\times}75mm$, reduced by 10 times as compared with the conventional culture kit. The mini kit has many advantages - high culture amount, ability of maintaining optimal humidity, parasite-free cultivation and high-end appearance. With the kit, the optimal cultivation condition is under $22^{\circ}C$, culture period of 53 days. And synnemata of P. tenuipes could be kept fresh for 14 days at the temperature of under $10^{\circ}C$. Therefore, the Min-kit can be used in both ways as a culture container and a packing kit for end-user customers.

파릇파릇 만물이 생동하는 계절이다. 추운 겨울이 지나고 따뜻한 봄이 찾아오면 낮 길이가 길어지고 인체도 신진대사가 활발히 일어나 야외활동이 늘어나고 활동량 또한 증가한다. 그러나 봄철 면역력이 약한 노인의 호흡기 건강을 위협하는 불청객이 있다. 매년 어김없이 우리나라에 불어오는 황사와 날리는 꽃가루가 바로 그것이다.
