The purpose of this study aims to provide possible suggestions for the improvement KDC 5th ed. as a system. After analyzing and evaluating various devices of KDC 5th ed. such as schedules, common auxiliary tables, internal tables(omitted), notes, relative index, precedence order(omitted), alternatives, manual(omitted) and relocated table(omitted), suggestions for the improvement were proposed. If above suggestions are adopted, effective literature classification scheme which is suited to domestic circumstances will be certainly prepared.

In iris diagnostics, iris changes in its area on the iris map when abnormal changes in human tissues and organs occur in response to changes in color and iris structure. This makes it possible to determine the long-term condition in which an abnormal change has occurred, and to determine the presence or absence of a congenital illness. In this paper, we design a neural network algorithm that is displayed on the iris and classifies lesions by using a convolution neural network that has the advantage of advancing learning using images of various dip-running neural networks.

The conversion of printed maps into computerized databases is an enormous task. Thus the automation of the conversion process is essential. Efficient computer representation of printed maps and line drawings depends on codes assigned to characters, symbols, and vector representation of the graphics. In many cases, maps are constructed in a number of layers, where each layer is printed in a distinct color, and it represents a subset of the map information. In order to properly represent the character layer from color map images, an interactive clustering and character extraction technique is proposed. Character is usually separated from graphics by extracting and classifying connected components in the image. But this procedure fails, when characters touch or overlap lines-something that occurs often in land register maps. By vectorizing line segments, the touched characters and numbers are extracted. The algorithm proposed in this paper is intended to contribute towards the solution of the color image clustering and touched character problem.

In this paper, we propose a face detection method based on color constancy and geometrical analysis. With the problem about the various colors of skin under scene illuminant, a color constancy method is applied to input images and geometrical analysis is used to detect face regions. At first, the candidates of face or hair are extracted from the image that a color constancy method is applied to, and are classified by some geometrical criterions. And then, face candidates which have some intersectional regions whose total is over a certain size, with hair candidates are selected as faces. Caltech Face DB was used to compare the performance of our method. Also, performance about scene illuminant was evaluated by images which have some illumination effects. The experiment results show that the proposed face detection method was applicable to various facial images because of high true-positive and low false-negative ration.

R-tree is index structure which is frequently used for handling spatial data. However, if the number of dimensions increases, or if only partial dimensions are used for searching the certain data according to user preference, the time for indexing is greatly increased and the efficiency of the generated R-tree is greatly reduced. Hence, it is not suitable for the multidimensional data, where dimensions are continuously increasing. In this paper, we propose a multidimensional hash index, a new multidimensional index structure based on a hash index. The multidimensional hash index classifies data into buckets of euclidean space through a hash function, and then, when an actual search is requested, generates a hash search tree for effective searching. The generated hash search tree is able to handle user preferences in selected dimensional space. Experimental results show that the proposed method has better indexing performance than R-tree, while maintaining the similar search performance.
Artificially or naturally contained texts in the natural images have significant and detailed information about the scenes. If we develop a method that can extract and recognize those texts in real-time, the method can be applied to many important applications. In this paper, we suggest a new method that extracts the text areas in the natural images using the low-level image features of color continuity. gray-level variation and color valiance and that verifies the extracted candidate regions by using the high-level text feature such as stroke. And the two level features are combined hierarchically. The color continuity is used since most of the characters in the same text lesion have the same color, and the gray-level variation is used since the text strokes are distinctive in their gray-values to the background. Also, the color variance is used since the text strokes are distinctive in their gray-values to the background, and this value is more sensitive than the gray-level variations. The text level stroke features are extracted using a multi-resolution wavelet transforms on the local image areas and the feature vectors are input to a SVM(Support Vector Machine) classifier for the verification. We have tested the proposed method using various kinds of the natural images and have confirmed that the extraction rates are very high even in complex background images.
This study was designed to investigate the using status and awareness of pit and fissure sealant, and how it affects on secondary caries when performed on above of initial caries. After classifying 446 occlusal surface into four groups, performed pit and fissure sealant, induced artificial caries, used DIAGNOdent (Kavo) to measure degree of secondary caries. Also, distributed a questionnaire on dental clinic in metropolitan area to find out using status and awareness of pit and fissure sealant, the following results were obtained. 1) On inspection and percussion, Group 4 corresponding to the enamel caries showed the highest secondary caries after sealant and was statistically significant difference in the order of initial group, stained group, sound group (p<0.05). 2) Inspection showed the highest percentage on tooth fissure caries diagnostic methods before sealant. 3) 56.6% didn't know about DIAGNOdent, 91.6% didn't have it. 4) In clinically, the most cause of secondary caries after sealant was a broken sealant, making caries on the downward. Based on the results of above study, degree of caries under sealant could affect on secondary caries, needs publicity about the use and necessity of objective fluorescence device.

We aimed to generate basic breeding data for melon (Cucumis melo L.). A total of 219 melon accessions conserved at the National Agrobiodiversity Center (NAC) in Rural Development Administration (RDA) were used in this study, of which 72 (33%) were collected from India. The majority of accessions showed orange (42%) and white (36%) flesh color. In addition to phenotypic evaluations, the accessions were genotyped using a molecular marker for the carotenoid biosynthesis gene CmOr. DNA fragments of the expected size were amplified in 205 out of 219 accessions. Digestion of the PCR products with HinfI restriction endonuclease showed 100% concordance between phenotype and genotype in green-fleshed accessions, but 98%, 97%, and 80% concordance in orange-, white-, and creamy-fleshed accessions, respectively. Sequence analysis revealed single nucleotide changes in the three positions of SNP1, SNP2 and SNP1int in the CmOr gene among accessions. These newly found alleles suggest that there are multiple mechanisms in determining fruit flesh color in melon. Also, the phenotype data of diverse accessions obtained in this study will be a valuable source for melon breeding.
To clarify the morphological variations of Galium, its morphological characteristics were examined using maximum parsimony analysis. The key characteristics as well as the range of variation in each characteristic were investigated at the species level and were employed to elucidate the relationships between the taxa. This study confirmed that species belonging to genus Galium formed a monophyletic group and comprised two main clades. Sect. Cymogaliae and sect. Leptogalium are polyphyly groups, and other sections are monophyletic group. This study also suggests that the fruit hairs, the types of petal apexes, and the colors of the petals are the most valuable taxonomic characteristics for differentiating different sections. The numbers of the leaves and leaf shape provide useful taxonomic characteristics for the identification of different species.
The taxa of Dryopteris subg. Erythrovariae are variable in morphology, resulting in taxonomic confusion in delimiting taxon boundaries. We examined the morphological characteristics of the Korean members of subg. Erythrovariae to clarify their taxonomic identities and relationships. The shapes of the blades, pinnae, and pinnule apices, the shapes and colors of the scales, and the positions of sori were useful for delimiting the Korean taxa of the subgenus. Based on the results of this study and evidence from previous studies, 13 taxa comprising 12 species and one variety of Dryopteris subg. Erythrovariae were recognized in Korea. Descriptions of all Korean taxa of the subg. Erythrovariae and a key to the species are provided. The descriptions presented here are based on field observations and the examination of some 1,000 specimens from the major herbaria of the world.
