Design of Stacked Circular Microstrip Antenna for Mobile Communication Base Station (이동통신 기지국을 위한 적층된 원형 마이크로스트립 안테나 설계)

  • In this paper, a stacked circular-disk microstrip 1${\times}$4 array antenna was designed and manufactured and tested to apply in next generation mobile communication, on IMT-2000 system(up-link: 1.885 GHz∼2.025 GHz, down-link: 2.11 GHz∼2.2 GHz) base station which has dual frequency, broadband and high-gain characteristics. The experimental results are as follows : resonant frequency of 1.885 GHz and 2.178 GHz VSWR (1.064 , 1.432), return loss (-30.19 dB , -24.99 dB), band width (VSWR<2) are 402 MHz, -3dB beam width at radiation pattern are ${\alpha}$E-16.8$^{\circ}$, ${\alpha}$H-69$^{\circ}$(1.885 GHz) and ${\alpha}$E-l5.2$^{\circ}$, ${\alpha}$H-51.5$^{\circ}$(2.178 GHz), gain(13.7 dBi∼15.21 dBi).

Performance Analysis and Design of 2-D RAKE Receiver Simulator for WCDMA Uplink (WCDMA 상향링크에서의 2-D RAKE 수신기 시뮬레이터 제작 및 성능 분석)

  • In this paper, 2-D RAKE receiver simulator is made which beamforming technique is applied to in WCI)MA uplink basestation, and the performance is compared with that of 1-D RAKE receiver with varying the number of array elements, RAKE fingers and users. To model angular component of received signal and interfering signals due to multiple access, it is assumed that multiple users are located in the arbitrary direction of the same distance far from the basestation within a sector of the cell, and the channel simulator is made by using Geometry Based Single Bounce Elliptical Model(GBSBEM) suggested by Rappaport. BER performance is compared and analyzed with the various choise of the number of array elements, the number of RAKE fingers, the number of users and Eb/No. These results indicate that increasing the number of array elements eliminates efficiently multiple access interfering signals and improves dramatically BER performance.

  • In Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) systems, timing synchronization in uplink is accomplished by an initial uplink synchronization called an initial ranging process. The Base Station's receiver synchronizes the symbol timing to specific user's symbol and the other user's symbols have some Symbol Timing Offset (STO). Linear phase shift is occurred by each user's STO in an OFDMA symbol. The Multiple Access Interference (MAI) caused by the summation of each user's linear phase shift degrades the performance of ranging code detection. In this paper, we propose an initial ranging symbol structure with common ranging code for phase shift estimation and compensation. We car estimate the average of phase shift that is generated by each user's STO and compensate this phase shift by using common ranging code. This scheme will suppress the MAI and provide better detection performance than conventional process.

  • 중계 기술은 음영지역 해소 및 전송 용량 증대를 위해 기지국과 단말기 사이에 중계기(relay)의 도움을 받아 정보를 전송하는 통신 기술이다. 이 논문에서는 좁고 긴 도로상에 구성되는 선형 클러스터(linear cluster) 자동차 통신 환경을 고려하여 사용자와 중계기 그리고 기지국이 선형 네트워크로 구성됨을 가정한다. 이를 통해 본 논문에서는 선형 네트워크 시스템에서 다중 사용자와 다중 중계기가 존재할 때 최적 중계기 선택 기법을 통한 새로운 중계 전송 기법을 제안한다. 제안된 중계 전송 기법에서는 사용자와 중계기의 신호 전송을 위해 시분할 방식으로 채널이 할당된다고 가정한다. 첫 번째 전송단계에서는 모든 사용자들이 자신의 신호를 중계기와 기지국으로 전송한다. 기지국에서는 사용자들로부터 전송된 신호의 세기를 기반으로 재전송이 필요한 사용자들을 분류하고 이 사용자들만 중계기를 통해 재전송되도록 한다. 두 번째 전송단계에서는 중계기에서 재전송이 필요한 사용자들 중 일부 사용자들의 정보를 결합하여 기지국으로 재전송한다. 기지국에서는 앞의 두 전송단계를 통해 수신된 신호를 바탕으로 모든 사용자들의 정보를 복호한다. 컴퓨터 모의실험을 통해 비트오율(BER) 성능을 보인다.

Design and fabrication of test equipment of RF Telecommand and Telemetry for satellite control (위성 제어용 RF Telecommand 및 Telemetry 시험 장비 설계 및 제작)

  • Telecommand & telemetry control equipment is needed for the testing of the transponders during the development of satellite. This equipment must have a loopback function to perform the self testing without satellite. The fabrication of the designed system is easier and cheaper than the conventional testing system using direct modulation method. The measured results of fabricated equipment are satisfied with required specifications. A overall path loss of uplink and downlink is 47.8 dB and 42.6 dB, respectively. Also, IMD3 of uplink has measured 60.68 dBc at an output of -50 dBm.

  • In this paper, we cary out system level simulations to investigate the effect of cell shape(i.e., different base station displacements in the two directions defined by the street grid) on minimizing transmitter power, interference power, and blocking probability for CDMA system in urban microcellular environments. In urban microcell, path loss to the base station depends on the orientation of the street where the mobile is located. Interference from mobile stations to the base station in the reference cell is considered up to second tier. The wrap around method is used to include the second tier interference with realistic computational complexity without reducing the accuracy of interference calculations. The investigation shows that the transmitter power, interference power, and blocking probability in a cell can be reduced by proper selection of the efficient cell shape.

  • OFDM Systems for multi-user use adaptive modulation and ending (AMC) which is a method that selects suitable modulation order and code rate depending on channel state of each user. Using AMC, OFDM system can provide high quality and reliable communication. Base station using AMC scheme requires downlink channel information of each terminal to operate optimality. However, under practical system environment, it is unsuitable to transmit all channel information because uplink bandwidth of the system is limited. In this paper, we propose a flexible block-wise loading (FBL) algorithm combined with a novel CQI feedback scheme with reduced number of required bits to optimize the performance of AMC system. Proposed algorithm allocates sub-carrier groups dynamically to improve the sector throughput and outage probability performance.

Resource Allocation Scheme for Multiple Device-to-Device Communications in a Multicell Network (다중 셀 네트워크에서 다중 D2D 통신 자원할당 기법)

  • In D2D communications underlaying a multicell network, it is of primary importance to ensure coexistence of cellular links and D2D links with minimal interference. Therefore, resource allocation scheme for D2D links should be designed to limit the interference between cellular links and D2D links. In this paper, we propose an effective resource allocation scheme for multiple D2D links which share the uplink spectrum resource with cellular users in a multicell network. Under the assumption that the locations of users are known to the base station, the proposed scheme allocates cellular resources to D2D links, such that the interference between a cellular link and multiple D2D links is minimized. In particular, we compute two constants from the path loss model and then use the constants to protect both cellular and D2D links. Simulation results are provided to verify the performance of the proposed scheme.

Transmission Protocol for Cellular-Aided Device-to-Device Communication (기지국 협력 Device-to-Device 통신 전송 프로토콜 연구)

  • We study an efficient transmission protocol for the cellular-aided device-to-device communication model. In particular, two source-destination pairs communicate with the help of unlink and downlink cellular links. For the proposed scheme, two transmitters send their messages and the base station and two receivers receive at the first phase. Then, at the second phase, the base station sends the XOR of the messages to two receivers and they try to decode their own messages from the received signals after the first and second phases. We analyze the outage-based throughput achievable by the proposed scheme and demonstrate by simulations that the proposed scheme provides an improved outage performance compared to the conventional device-to-device communication schemes.

  • Beam-forming method based on the estimated channel information at the base station degrade the performance mismatching directional vector in case of systems which Frequency Division Duplex (FDD) center frequency of uplink and downlink are different. Also blind estimation technique which is to obtain directional vector of reverse link through received signal has disadvantage of hardware complexity increase. To solve these problems, in present paper, a smart antenna algorithm which is to improve the beam-forming complexity increase due to user number by appling the spatial fourier transform to be able to beam- forming toward a wanted direction through adjusting a obtained uplink weight function by estimating Angle-of-Arrival (AoA) to the competable form at the downlink is proposed. The proposed algorithm is integrated to the CDMA downlink transmitter and simulations are performed to confirm the performance as frame error rate at the receiver. As a result, the beam forming effect is confirmed and the performance gain with the proposed algorithm is comparable to ordinary smart antenna system.
