Recently, as multimedia information becomes popular, there are many studies to retrieve images based on images in the web. However, it is hard to find the matching images which users want to find because of various patterns in images. In this paper, we suggest an efficient images retrieval system based on images for finding products in internet shopping malls. We extract features for image retrieval by using SIFT (Scale Invariant Feature Transform) algorithm, repeat keypoint matching in various dimension by using PCA-SIFT, and find the image which users search for by combining them. To verify efficiency of the proposed method, we compare the performance of our approach with that of SIFT and PCA-SIFT by using images with various patterns. We verify that the proposed method shows the best distinction in the case that product labels are not included in images.

An image retrieval system based on image content is a key issue for building and managing large multimedia database, such as art galleries and museums, trademarks and copyrights, and picture archiving and communication system. Therefore, the interest on the subject of content-based image retrieval has been greatly increased for the last few years. This paper proposes a feature-based image retrieval technique which uses a compound feature vector representing both of color and shape of an image. Color information for the feature vector is obtained using the algebraic moment of each pixel of an image based on the property of regional color distribution. Shape information for the feature vector is obtained using the Improved Moment Invariant(IMI) which reduces the quantity of computation and increases retrieval efficiency. In the preprocessing phase for extracting shape feature, we transform a color image into a gray image. Since we make use of the modified DCT algorithm, it is implemented easily and can extract contour in real time. As an experiment, we have compared our method with previous methods using a database consisting of 150 automobile images, and the results of the experiment have shown that our method has the better performance on retrieval effectiveness.

According to the recent advances of digital encoding technologies and computing power, large amounts of multimedia informations such as image, graphic, audio and video are fully used in multimedia systems through Internet. By this, diverse retrieval mechanisms are required for users to search dedicated informations stored in multimedia systems, and especially it is preferred to use contents-based retrieval method rather than text-type keyword retrieval method. In this paper, we propose a new contents-based indexing and searching algorithm which aims to get both high efficiency and high retrieval performance. To achieve these objectives, firstly the proposed algorithm classifies images by a pre-processing process of edge extraction, range division, and multiple filtering, and secondly it searches the target images using spatial and textural characteristics of colors, which are extracted from the previous process, in a image. In addition, we describe the simulation results of search requests and retrieval outputs for several images of company's trade-mark using the proposed contents-based retrieval algorithm based on wavelet.

An image retrieval system is a piece of software that searches identical or similar images based on various image-specific features. This paper proposes a trademark image retrieval system that uses image colors and forms. In the proposed system, input images are segmented into several other regions, and color distribution histograms for different regions are extracted for use as color information. The proposed system uses form information through the preprocessing process such as boundary surface extraction, centroid extraction, angular sampling and, and through calculating the sums of the distances between the centroid and the boundary surfaces, standard deviations, and the ratios between long and short axes. Like this, the color and form information extracted is used to perform retrieval through measuring similarity.

This paper is proposed to image retrieval system using color and shape feature. Color feature used to four maximum value feature among the maximum value extracted from local color distribution histogram. The preprocessing of shape feature consist of edge extraction and weight central point extraction and angular sampling. The sum of distance from weight central point to contour and variation and max/min used to shape feature. The similarity is estimated compare feature of query image with the feature of images in database and the candidate of image is retrieved in order of similarity. We evaluate the effectiveness of shape feature and color feature in experiment used to two hundred of the closed image. The Recall and the Precision is each 0.72 and 0.53 in the result of average experiment. So the proposed method is presented useful method.
