An efficient channel assignment meghod for real-time service in the IEEE 802.11 wireless LAN system (IEEE 802.11 무선 LAN 환경에서 실시간 서비스를 제공하기 위한 채널 구간 할당 방안)

  • This paper proposes an efficient channel assignment method for real-time service in the IEEE 802.11 Wireless LAN system, and analyzes the supportability to real-time service and the channel utilzation of that through computer simulations. The improved MAC(Medium Access Control) protocol employing the proposed channel assignment method achieved good throughput over contention period as well as contention-free period by making real-time terminals transmit the information about their desiring value before starts of data transmissions. For performance evaluation of the proposed method, a simulation analyzing the variation of allocated bandwidths to terminals using real-time service and their buffer sizes wasexecuted. Real-time data traffics was modeled s 7-stae transition VBR sources, and asynchronous data traffics modeled as Poisson processes. In the simulation, the proposed method showed smaller variation of the bandwidth of each terminal and samller buffer size than the existing method, and also recorded good throughput over contention period.

A Study on the High Temperature Creep Crack Growth Properties for Steam Turbine Rotor Steel under Static and Cyclic Loading Condition (화력 발전용 고압 로터강의 정하중 및 변동하중하의 고온 크립 균열전파 특성에 관한 연구)

  • The crack length measurements by electrical potential(EP) method for 1% Cr-Mo-V and 12%Cr steel of 0.5T-CT specimen were performed at $500^{\circ}C, 600^{\circ}C 700^{\circ}C$, and an applicability of stress intensity factor($K_I$), net section stress($\sigma_{net}$), $C^*$-ingegral and $C_t$ parameter was studied to measure creep crack growth rate(da/dt) with side groove and without side groove under static and cyclic loading condition. The experimental result could be summarized as follows: 1) Crack measurement by EP method was available and coincided with the Johnson,s analytical equation. 2) da/dt by $K_I$ and $\sigma_{net}$ was not adequate because of the wide scatter band according to load and temperature, but $C^*$-integral, except for transition region, was adequate. 3) $C_t$ parameter showed the best fitted line through total creep region without relating with both temperature and load condition. 4) Under the cyclic loading condition, $C_t$ parameter was proper to extimate da/dt. And it was shown that da/dt for 1% Cr-Mo V steel under the static condition(R=1) was 1.16 times faster than the case under cyclic loading(R=0), and for 12% Cr steel, 1.43 times.

  • Operating rules, the basic principle of reservoir operation, are mostly developed from maximum or minimum, mean inflow series so that those rules cannot be used in practical operating situations to estimate the expected benefits or provide the operating policies for uncertainty conditions. Many operating rules based on the deterministic method that considers all operation variables including inflows as known variables can not reflect to uncertainties of inflow variations. Explicit operating rules can be developed for improving the weakness. In this method, stochastic trend of inflow series, one of the reservoir operation variables, can be directly method, the stochastic technique was applied to develop reservoir operating rule. In this study, stochastic dynamic programming using the concepts was applied to develop optimal operating rule for the Chungju reservoir system. The developed operating rules are regarded as a practical usage because the operating policy is following up the basic concept of Lag-1 Markov except for flood season. This method can provide reservoir operating rule using the previous stage's inflow and the current stage's beginning storage when the current stage's inflow cannot be predicted properly.

  • In this paper, we propose HMM-based upper-body gesture. First, to recognize gesture of space, division about pose that is composing gesture once should be put priority. In order to divide poses which using interface, we used two IR cameras established on front side and side. So we can divide and acquire in front side pose and side pose about one pose in each IR camera. We divided the acquired IR pose image using SVM's non-linear RBF kernel function. If we use RBF kernel, we can divide misclassification between non-linear classification poses. Like this, sequences of divided poses is recognized by gesture using HMM's state transition matrix. The recognized gesture can apply to existent application to do mapping to OS Value.

Analytical Study on the Slewing Dynamics of Hybrid Coordinate Systems (복합좌표계 시스템의 선회동역학에 관한 해석적 연구)

  • In this paper, an analytic solution method is proposed to overcome the numerical problems when the slewing dynamics of hybrid coordinate systems is investigated via time finite element analysis. It is shown that the dynamics of the hybrid coordinate systems is governed by the coupled dual differential equations for both slewing and structural modes. Structural modes are transformed into the time-based modal coordinates and analytic spatial propagation equations are derived for each space-dependent time mode. Slew angle history is obtained analytically by appropriate applications of the boundary conditions and structural propagation is re-calculated using the slew angle. Numerical examples are demonstrated to validate the proposed analytic method in comparison to the existing state transition matrix method.

  • This paper describes the development result of S-band Transmitter of STSAT-3 by satellite research center(SaTReC), KAIST. STSAT-3 has two kinds of communication channels, S- band for Telemetry & Command and X-band for mission payload. S-band Transmiiter(STX) consist of modulator, frequency synthesizer, power amp and DC/DC converter. The modulation scheme of STX is FSK(Frequency Shift Keying). The interface between spacecraft OBC and STX is RS-422. The STX is based on modular design. The RF output power of STX is 1.5W(31.7dBm) and BER of STX is under 1E-5. The Test of STX is completed successfully such as functional Test and environmental(vibration, thermal vacuum) Test.

  • A high-resolution numerical study is carried out to investigate the transient process of the combustion and the shock-train developments in an ethylene-fueled direct-connect dual-mode scramjet combustor. Following the fuel injection, air-throttling is applied at the expansion part of the combustor to provide mass addition to block the flow to subsonic speed. The ignition occurs several ms later when the fuel and air are mixed sufficiently. The pressure build up by the combustion leads to the shock train formation in the isolator section that advances to the exit of the intake nozzle. Then, the air-throttling is deactivated and the exhaust process begins and the situation before the air-throttling is restored. Present simulation shows the detailed processes in the dual-mode scramjet combustor for better understanding of the operation regimes and characteristics.

  • The shock wave and boundary layer interaction patterns in an over-expanded rocket nozzle are associated with the production of undesirable side-forces during the start-up and shut-down processes of the engine. In the present work, a computational study is carried out to investigate the effect of the transient nozzle pressure ratio (NPR) on the flow fields inside the nozzle. The unsteady, compressible, axisymmetric, Navier-Stocks equations with SST k-${\omega}$ turbulence model are solved using a fully implicit finite volume scheme. NPR is varied from 2.0 to 10.0, in order to simulate the start-up and shut-down processes of the rocket engine. It is observed that the interaction patterns and the hysteresis phenomenon strongly depend on the time variation of NPR, leading to significantly different characteristics in the lateral forces.

  • In this paper, we design and verify the MAC chip of the two-stage AWG-based WDM-PON which considers 128 ONUs and 32 wavelengths. Each wavelength with the capacity of 1Gbps is allocated to ONU for downstream transmission but each wavelength for upstream transmission can be shared by four ONUs. Therefore, MAC protocol is required to avoid the collision and use the network resource efficiently among ONUs which are sharing the same wavelength. To design a request/permit-based MAC protocol, we define a unit-chip module called sub-MAC. The WDM-PON with 128 ONUs can be implemented by using 32 sub-MAC modules. The sub-MAC consists of one control unit, one receipt unit and four transmission units. The state transition diagram of the module is described by the internal/external control signals among the functional units. The function of the sub-MAC module is verified through logic simulation using ModelSIM.
