Power plants have many components and equipment. It is difficult for operators to know the time of failure or the equipment that fails. Plants incur heavy economic losses due to unexpected failure. The equipment in power plants is constantly monitored by various sensors and instruments. However, prevention of failure is very difficult. Therefore, engineers are developing many types of failure-alarm systems that can detect the abnormal functioning of equipment. Such failure-alarm systems inform only about the abnormal functioning of equipment and do not indicate the cause of failure or the parts that have failed. In this study, we have developed a failure-prediction system that can provide details on the cause of trouble and the maintenance method.
Due to the Fourth Industrial Revolution, innovation in various technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), big data (Big Data), and cloud (Cloud) is accelerating, and data is considered an important asset. With the innovation of these technologies, various efforts are being made to lead technological innovation in the field of defense science and technology. In Korea, the government also announced the "Defense Innovation 4.0 Plan," which consists of five key points and 16 tasks to foster advanced science and technology forces in March 2023. The plan also includes the establishment of a Condition-Based Maintenance system (CBM+) to improve the operability and availability of weapons systems and reduce defense costs. Condition Based Maintenance (CBM) aims to secure the reliability and availability of the weapon system and analyze changes in equipment's state information to identify them as signs of failure and defects, and CBM+ is a concept that adds Remaining Useful Life prediction technology to the existing CBM concept [1]. In order to establish a CBM+ system for the weapon system, sensors are installed and sensor data are required to obtain condition information of the weapon system. In this paper, we propose a sensor data metadata schema to efficiently and effectively manage sensor data collected from sensors installed in various weapons systems.

선박의 주요 기기 5종에 대한 CBM(Condition Based Monitoring) 정보와 PMS(Planed Maintenance System) 정보를 통합 GUI(Dashboard) 형태로 선육간 구성하여, 선박-육상간 최적의 상태 모니터링과 신제적인 예방 정비 활동이 가능하도록 서비스를 제공한다.

The existing maintenance program is focused on time-based maintenance to inspect and repair components according to maintenance period, rather than condition-based maintenance or predictive maintenance. The preventive maintenance template of the steam turbine has been developed for optimizing maintenance procedure and improving reliability and availability of the steam turbine of nuclear power plants based on EPRI PM template methodology and EPRI technical reports about preventive maintenance.

Maintainability indicates the extent to which maintenance can be done easily and quickly. The consideration of maintainability is crucial to reduce the operation and support costs of weapon systems, but if the maintainability is evaluated after the prototype production is done and necessitates design changes, it may increase the cost and delay the schedule. The evaluation should verify whether maintenance work can be performed, and support the designers in developing a design to improve maintainability. In previous studies, the maintainability index was calculated using the graph theory at the early design phase, but evaluation accuracy appeared to be limited. Analyzing the methods of evaluating the maintainability using fuzzy logic and 3D modeling indicate that the design of a system with good maintainability should be done in an integrated manner during the whole system life cycle. This paper proposes a method to evaluate maintainability using SysML-based modeling and simulation technique and fuzzy logic. The physical design structure with maintainability attributes was modeled using SysML 'bdd' diagram, and the maintainability was represented by an AHP matrix for maintainability attributes. We then calculated the maintainability using AHP-based weighting calculation and fuzzy logic through the use of SysML 'par' diagram that incorporated MATLAB. The proposed maintainability model can be managed efficiently and consistently, and the state of system design and maintainability can be analyzed quantitatively, thereby improving design by early identifying the items with low maintainability.

The marine transport industry generally applies new technologies later than other transport industries, such as airways and railways. Vessels require efficient operation, and their performance and lifespan depend on the level of maintenance and management. Many studies have shown that corrective maintenance (CM) and time-based maintenance (TBM) have restrictions with respect to enabling efficient maintenance of workload and cost to improve operational efficiency. Predictive maintenance (PdM) is an advanced technology that allows monitoring the condition and performance of a target machine to predict its time of failure and helps maintain the key machinery in optimal working conditions at all times. This study presents the development of a marine predictive maintenance (MPdM; maritime predictive maintenance) method based on applying PdM to the marine environment. The MPdM scheme is designed by considering the special environment of the marine transport industry and the extreme marine conditions. Further, results of the study elaborates upon the concept of MPdM and its necessity to advancing marine transportation in the future.

Maintainability indicates how easily a system can be restored to the normal state when a system failure occurs. Systems developed to have high maintainability can be competitive due to reduced maintenance time, workforce and resources. Quantification of the maintainability is possible in many ways, but only after prototype production or with historical data. As such, the graph theory and 3D model data have been used, but there are limitations in management efficiency and early use. To solve this problem, we studied the maintainability index of weapon systems using SysML-based modeling and simulation technique. A SysML structure diagram was generated to simultaneously model the system design and maintainability of system components by reflecting the maintainability attributes acquired from the system engineering tool. Then, a SysML parametric diagram was created to quantify the maintainability through simulation linked with MATLAB. As a result, an integrated model to account for system design and maintainability simultaneously has been presented. The model can be used from early design stages to identify components with low maintainability index. The design of such components can be changed to improve maintainability and thus to reduce the risks of cost overruns and time delays due to belated design changes.

The solution was developed for the maintenance decision support of combined cycle power plant gas turbine. The developed solution was applied to MHI501G gas turbine and is, in present, on the process of field test at GUNSAN combined cycle power plant, South Korea. The developed solution provides the calculated result of optimal overhaul maintenance period through following modules: Real Time Performance Monitoring, Model-Based Diagnostics, Performance Trend Analysis, Optimal Overhaul Maintenance Interval, Compressor Washing Period Management, and Blade Path Temperature Analysis. Model-Based Diagnostics module analyzed the differences between the data of gas turbine performance model and the online measurement. Compressor washing management module suggests the optimal point of balancing between the compressor performance and the maintenance cost.
