Design and Fabrication of a Surge Impedance Meter (서지임피던스 측정기의 설계 및 제작)

  • Ground systems flow fault currents into the ground, and suppress Ground Potential Rise (GPR) by the current. In this paper, we designed and fabricated a surge impedance meter to analyze the ground impedance in wide frequency ranges. The meter consists of a surge generator, a high speed sample/hold (S/H) circuit and an associated electronics. The surge generator produces surge voltage up to 5kV in ranges of $50\sim500ns$. Field tests were carried out to evaluate the surge impedance meter at a driven-rod ground system. The results showed that surge impedance of ground systems should be measured by various fast surge waveforms, since the impedance increases as the rise time of applied voltage increases.

  • 가스터빈 엔진을 운용하는 데 있어서 가/감속율을 크게 하면 엔진성능 천이 시간은 짧으나 압축기에서의 서지나 터빈 입구온도의 급격한 상승이 발생할 수 있으며 가/감속율을 작게 하면 엔진은 안정적이나 천이시간이 길어지게 되어 결과적으로 엔진의 동적 응답성이 나빠지게 된다. 또한 압축기에서 발생할 수 있는 서지를 방지하기 위하여 압축기 서지 마진이 l0%∼20%인 서지 한계선(조정선)을 설정하여 엔진이 서지 한계선을 넘지 않도록 제어한다.

  • 중형항공기용 터보펜 엔진의 성능모사와 LQR 제어기 설계에 대한 연구를 수행하였다. 동적 성능모사를 설계점으로 선정한 지상최대이륙조건과 탈설계점으로 선정한 최대상승조건과 순항조건에 대하여 Step 증가, Ramp 증가, Ramp 감소, Step증가 후 Ramp 감소의 4가지 연료공급에 조건에 대하여 수행되었다. 성능모사 결과 모든 비행조건에서 연료를 Step 증가시킬 경우 고압터보빈의 입구온도가 제한온도인 3105$^{\circ}$R을 초과함을 확인하였고, 최대 상승조건에서 연료를 Step 증가시킬 경우가 4.5초 이내에 Ramp 증가시킬 경우 고압압축기에 서지가 발생함을 확인하였다. 따라서 고압터어빈의 오버슈트와 고압압축기의 서지를 동시에 제어할 수 있는 다변수 제어기의 설계가 필요함을 확인하였다.

  • The cause of waterhammer phenomenon due to valve closing which is installed on pipeline is clarified in this study. Also if waterhammer phenomenon occurs on simple pipeline, expensive facilities like pressure relief valve is adapted to protect pipeline from waterhammer so far. But this study shows that waterhammer phenomenon can be suppressed by just simple modification of valve control sequence, and this technique is verified by simulation and site experiment.

  • This thesis has analyzed the effect of the surge happening in flight on the engine performance, especially on the PW4000 turbofan engine. It is to be judged that the flight surge can occur more often at the time of takeoff than it does en route due to the fact that the engine parameters are prone to fluctuate. EPR is judged to be the most highly sensitive parameter responding when surge occurs. Both Engine rpm and Wf decrease almost simultaneously just like an EPR. During the take-off rolling, N1 vibration is more sensitive than the N2 vibration. Consequently, the surge can be detected by EGT increase, while the other parameters (EPR, rpm, Wf, etc) decrease.

  • High speed info-communications equipment are required with development of highly information-oriented society, the intelligent industrial facilities and social systems such as administrative, financial and traffic systems, are gradually becoming to automation, which are composed of the integrated circuits and micro-semiconductors, remote control and operation. Thus modern micro-electronic circuits can frequently be damaged by lightning surge. The protection of electronic circuits from lightning overvoltages is concentrated very interesting. In this paper, for the purpose of providing the effective protection method of electronic devices such micro-computers from lightning surges in a residential building, the protection effect of surge protective devices according to types of system groundings were experimentally analyzed. Also the effective installation method of surge protective devices was examined and proposed. The installation of SPDs in retrofits was a high remnant voltage across the protected device owing to the inductance in the long wires to the SPDs. Finally the method of installing the SPD by twisted pain wires is remarkably effective for fast rising transient overvoltages.

  • In this paper the pressures and flowrate distributions in the loading/unloading piping system of LNG carrier have been investigated in the case of unsteady flow state as well as steady one. Under emergency situation the main cargo pumps are forced to fail, and the ESD(Emergency Shut Down) valves and Stop valves are closed within set-time. The surge pressures according to the variations of valve closing time have been computed to recognize the surge phenomenon due to sudden decrease of flowrate. By means of these analysis results, the most important factors on the in-pipe surge phenomenon of cargo loading/unloading piping system of LNG Carrier are the type of ESD and Stop valves, valve closing time, and the pipe arrangements.

  • Ths paper describes the transient response characteristics of the grounding systems for electric power facilities against impluse currents. In this work, when the impulse current was injected through the grounding conductor for arrester, the investigations treasuring and analyzing potential rises induced at the cormron cormection trint and other grounding conductors were conducted. The lightning impulse current was awliErl so as to simulate the on-set of arrester due to lightning surges.   • In this paper the problems associated with the switching surge of PWM inverter devices were analysed. As the application of ASD for efficient speed control of AC rmtors is increased, so is the rrntor and ASD-related failure increased. In the industrial rmtor awlications, the introduction of PWM drives can sometmes cause insulation breakdown between the phase windings due to high transient voltage peak. The motor cable length combined with the high switching frequency becomes more sensitive issue for proper drive operation. Effects of the cable length and high switching frequency influence both on rmtor and inverter. When the insulation level of rmtor winding is low, the failure probability caused by high peak voltage and fast voltage rise times(dv/dt) is high. Voltage refloctions are simulated far rmtor capacities, ASD and rise times and are presented graphically. The filtering techniques are discussed to reduce the rmtor terminal overvoltage and dv/dt in inverter fed AC rrntor drive systems. We confirmed that the lower motar capacity and rmtar insulation level, the shorter switching time and cable length and the higrer the probability of insulation breakdown .kdown .
