  • In this paper, a method for analyzing the dielectric constant of a planar substrate is proposed. To this end, a band-stop filter was created by adding a H-shaped resonant aperture to the ground plane of a microstrip transmission line. A planar substrate of 2 mm thickness was placed behind the ground plane of the microstrip transmission line and the change of the resonant frequency with the change of the dielectric constant of the substrate was investigated. It can be seen that the change ratio of the frequency to the reference resonant frequency is larger than that of the conventional complementary split ring resonator structure.

  • In this paper, we proposed an implementation of panoramic image stitching that operates in real time at the embedded environment by applying ROI based PROSAC algorithm using the directionality of the image. The conventional panoramic image stitching applies SURF or SIFT algorithm which contains unnecessary computation and a lots of data to detect feature points. In this paper, we use the direction of the input image and we proposed the method of reducing the unnecessary computation by using ROI. We use a gyro sensor and an acceleration sensor. Output data from gyro and acceleration sensors can be calibrated by complementary filter. The calibration does not affect the operating time of the proposed image stitching algorithm in embedded environment. Therefore, it is possible to operate in real-time.

A Two-step Kalman/Complementary Filter for Estimation of Vertical Position Using an IMU-Barometer System (IMU-바로미터 기반의 수직변위 추정용 이단계 칼만/상보 필터)

  • Estimation of vertical position is critical in applications of sports science and fall detection and also controls of unmanned aerial vehicles and motor boats. Due to low accuracy of GPS(global positioning system) in the vertical direction, the integration of IMU(inertial measurement unit) with the GPS is not suitable for the vertical position estimation. This paper investigates an IMU-barometer integration for estimation of vertical position (as well as vertical velocity). In particular, a new two-step Kalman/complementary filter is proposed for accurate and efficient estimation using 6-axis IMU and barometer signals. The two-step filter is composed of (i) a Kalman filter that estimates vertical acceleration via tilt orientation of the sensor using the IMU signals and (ii) a complementary filter that estimates vertical position using the barometer signal and the vertical acceleration from the first step. The estimation performance was evaluated against a reference optical motion capture system. In the experimental results, the averaged estimation error of the proposed method was 19.7 cm while that of the raw barometer signal was 43.4 cm.

  • This paper presents about multi-rate sensors' synchronization and filter fusion via a sigmoid function of the Kalman filter. To synchronize multi-rate sensors, the estimation states of the Kalman filter is modified. A specific matrix that makes the filter choose sensor values only updated is multiplied to measurement matrix. For the filter that has weak points on some criteria, filter fusion is suggested by using sigmoid function. Modified kalman filter is tested with practical case. A sigmoid function was designed for the test and the performance of the modified function is estimated with respect to conventional Kalman filter. Unscented Kalman filter is used to the base filter of the suggested filter because of its stability.

  • 본 논문에서는 항공기 비행 자세를 직관적으로 이해하고 동작의 원리를 시각화 할 수 있는 비행 자세 시뮬레이터를 구현하였다. 항적 정보의 변화에 따라 6축 모션 플랫폼을 동작시키고, 자이로 센서로 부터 전달 받은 비행 자세를 시뮬레이터에 전달하여 시스템을 구성한다. 항공기의 자세를 분석하기 위하여 자이로 센서와 가속도 센서를 같이 사용하는데 자이로 센서는 적분과정의 누적오차가 발생하고 가속도 센서는 짧은 순간의 진동에 따른 노이즈가 심하여 상보 필터를 이용한 보정작업을 하였다. 산출된 센서 정보를 이용하여 6축 모터에 전달할 각도를 계산하여 모션 플랫폼을 동작시키게 되며 시각화 결과는 OpenGL을 이용하여 구현하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 향후, 항공관련 학생들의 교육 기자재로 활용될 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.

Design of $H_{\infty}$Controller for the inverted pendulum system (도립진자 시스템의 $H_{\infty}$ 제어기 설계)

  • This Paper describes a systematic method for designing the $H_{\infty}$ controller for the inverted pendulum which is a nonlinear and single-input double-outputs system. In particular, the open-loop system is conbined with a pre-filter to shape the open-loop transfer function for the sensitivity function ind the complementary sensitivity function to be kept the desirable frequency characteristics. Consequently, the loop shaping technique of the open-loop transfer function reduces the impacts of the model uncertainties, measurement noises and exogenous disterbances on the dynamic characteristics of the inverted pendulum. The results of simulation and experiment show the efficiency of the proposed control method comparing with conventional PID control method.
