  • The present study interviewed Eight novice supervisors (i.e., counselling psychologists with fewer than 5 years of experience) to investigate the need for formal supervision training. A consensual qualitative research method was used to analyze data, and the result found four main domains, 12 sub-domains, and 33 categories. The results also indicated that novice supervisors believe their own supervisors and expert supervisors have a great understanding of individual counselling cases, and that the role of a supervisor is to help supervisees' ability to understand each case better. Novice supervisors generally take their own supervisors as their role models, although most of them did not receive formal training from their own supervisors. Novice supervisors seek advice on supervision from their colleagues or their own supervisors but still find supervising difficult. They also believe there is a great need for clearly set guidelines or a manual on providing effective supervision.

In this era of Korean culture, the result of this study implies that our country have to establish the actor's mental caring-related new law and private care centers supported enough funds to encourage the actors to receive more effective actor-friendly treatment service before and after the performance.

The common feature was that they keep the fact that one of their parents was imprisoned to their children as a secret. Thirdly, through the data analysis, counselors could understand various factors that affect reunion of ex-offenders' families: the factors that helped successful reunion were ex-offenders' sense of responsibility, open and healthy communication among family members, and mutual understanding of being a good family member, whereas, irresponsible dependance to other family members, denier and avoidance from the family members against ex-offenders, and lost sense of being a family member were the factors that discouraged the reunion. It turned out that the kinds of crime that ex-offenders committed also affected family reunion. The processes of reunion were easier for those who served their time with fraud, embezzlement, whereas, it was much more challenging for those who served their time with rape, violence, or murder. Fourthly, counselors learned that "relaxation" is the key factor in the process of reunion of ex-offenders' families. They also emphasized that there should be thorough monitoring process before the intervention in the reunion process. This study contributes in terms of finding healthy ways of intervention with ex-offenders' families and developing programs that help ex-offenders to recover their relationship with their family.
