  • This study aimed to examine the effects of self-rated health on life satisfaction among Korean babyboomers and to address the mediating effect of depression on the self-rated health-life satisfaction relationship. Further, this study attempted to identify any relationship between self-rated health, depression, and life satisfaction among babyboomers according to work status. Researchers conducted a secondary data analysis using the 6th wave of the Korean Longitudinal Study on Aging. The final sample was 2,479 babyboomers born between 1955 and 1963. Testing the mediating effect of depression was done by the significance of direct, indirect, and total effects. Researchers also compared an unconstrained model with constrained model for multiple group analysis. Results indicate that self-rated health was a significant factor in determining the life satisfaction of babyboomers. In addition, depression had a significant mediating effect on the self-rated health and life satisfaction of babyboomers. Multiple group analysis demonstrated, in the non-working babyboomer model, the effects of self-rated health and depression on life satisfaction, and the effect of depression on life satisfaction was stronger than that of the working babyboomer model. The results of this study have established the importance of health and working status in addressing depression and life satisfaction among babyboomers.

  • The purpose of this study is to find out the effect of using cellular phone dependence of middle school student based on Agnew's GST. A total of 2,151 questionnaires were used to Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey(KCYPS)2010. Analytical methods of Structural Equation Model(SEM) was verified by AMOS 21.0 Ver. The results were the following. Firstly, The fit of definitive model was $X^2=1398.997$, df=144, GFI=.937, NNFI(TLI)=.902, CFI=.918, RMSEA=.061. Model was proper to verify the use of cellular phone dependence of adolescents. Secondly, The strain factors of middle school student presented statistically significant positive effect to make negative life satisfaction. Finally, The negative life satisfaction of middle school student presented statistically significant positive effect to the use of cellular phone dependence of middle school student. We need to provide as basic data for developing cellular phone dependence intervention programs.

  • Adolescence is a period of transition from child to adult and is a very important period in which to think about the direction to go in the future and establish one's ego. However, the level of life satisfaction experienced by Korean youths in the adolescent period has been shown to be the lowest among OECD countries. It is very critical to understand which factors are important in determining the level of life satisfaction and how they affect it. In this study, to analyze the factors which affect the life satisfaction of youths and their learning attitude - essential school activity prior to life satisfaction in the youth period, we firstly focused on the relationships with their parents, peers and teachers as potential factors affecting their learning attitude and life satisfaction. This study found that Parenting Style, Peer Attachment and Relationship with Teachers significantly influenced Life Satisfaction either directly or indirectly. We analyzed the structural relationships among these factors using the structure equation model, discussed the analysis results and concluded with further research directions.

  • The purpose of the present study was to examine the structural causal relationships among problem drinking of elderly, depression, self-esteem and life satisfaction through structural Equation Modeling and also to investigate how these effects were influenced by the differences in the structural relationships between poor and non-poor elderly. The results showed the positive relationship between problem drinking and depression not also poor elderly group but non-poor elderlys'. According to Multi-group analysis, Latent means analysis where non-poor elderly are used as the reference group, poor elderly group showed higher latent mean values on the problemdrinking and depression, and lower latent mean values on the self-esteem and life satisfaction. Depression mediated the relationships between problem drinking of elderly and life satisfaction the only in a poor elderly group. The implications and limitations of this study were discussed, and the suggestions for further studies were recommended.

  • This study attempts to find how the government policies regarding population aging may affect the life patterns of the baby boomers and what factors play a significant role in providing life wellness. This study uses the data provided by Korea Welfare Panel Study published between the years 2006 and 2011. First, according to the analysis of the data from Korea Welfare Panel Study in the year 2006, the factors affecting the life wellness are family relations, health and social relations. However, between the years 2007 and 2009, the major factor is not the present income providing security or life satisfaction. Second, the next significant factor in improving the wellness of life is family relations after health or occupation. Therefore, the government should provide them with re-employment programs prior to their retirement through which baby boomers can find employment similar or different to their present occupations. For improving the wellness of life, the most significant factor is family relations.
