Spread of pathogenic micro-organisms through contaminated hands is a well recognized way of transmitting disease such as food poisoning. We investigated the prevalence of aerobic plate counts, coliform bacteria, and food-poisoning bacteria on hands in various age groups. The average number of aerobic plate counts was 3.3 log CFU/hand in kindergarteners, 3.4 log CFU/hand in elementary students, 3.2 log CFU/hand in middle school students, 3.4 log CFU/hand in high school students, and 3.3 log CFU/hand in adults. Two kindergarteners, 6 elementary students, and 2 adults were positive for the coliform bacteria. Among the food poisoning bacteria we tested, S. aureus was isolated from 47 individuals. Eight isolates of B cereus were all from kindergarteners. C. perfringens was isolated from 7 individuals. Among 47 isolates of S. aureus, 25 isolates produced toxins. Seven of eight isolates of B. cereus produced toxins. None of seven C. peifringens isolates produced toxins. All 47 isolates of S. aureus were sensitive to ciprofloxacin, trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole, clindamyccin, imipenem, rifampin and vancomycin. Four isolates (8.5%) were resistant to cefepime, chloramphenicol, cefotetan, and gentamycin. Five isolates (10.6%) were resistant to oxacillin and 6 isolates were resistant to tetracycline. This study shows that it is needs to be established policy of school lunch and personal sanitation management.

The purpose of this study was to explore methods for efficient management of the quality and safety of simple processed agricultural products in Busan. We tested 258 samples of simple processed agricultural products for distribution of aerobic bacteria and coliforms, and identified food-borne pathogens. The average aerobic bacterial and coliforms counts were 7.1 and 4.1 log CFU/g in simple processed vegetables, 6.8 and 3.5 log CFU/g in dried vegetables, and 6.2 and 2.9 log CFU/g in simple processed fruits. Additionally Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella spp., Campylobacter jejuni/coli and Listeria monocytogenes were not detected in any samples. However, Bacillus cereus, Clostridium perfringens and E. coli were detected in 41 samples (16.3%), 2 samples (0.8%), and 4 samples (1.6%), respectively. This analysis revealed that none of C. perfringens and E. coli isolates harbored pathogenic toxic genes. However, all of B. cereus isolates carried at least 1 toxin gene.
In this study, the effects of dietary krill meal levels on cellular immunity in LPS-injected broiler chicks was evaluated. One day-old male broiler chicks(Ross) were fed on the experimental basal meal(0.0% krill meal), or diets containing 0.5%, 1.0% and 2.0% krill for 3 weeks, and the acute phase response was activated by intraperitoneally injection of Salmonella typhimurium lipopolysaccharide(LPS) 3 times at 9, 11, and 13 days of age. 1. Acute phase response induced a significant reduction in(p<0.05) daily weight gain and feed intake, and increases in liver and spleen weight. However, it was not affected by dietary krill meal levels. 2. The krill meal diets reduced TNF-α activity as compared to the basal diet after 24 hours (acute phase response) and 1 week(recovery from the acute phase response) following LPS injection (p<0.05). The acute phase response induced a significant increase(p<0.05) in TNF-α activity relative to the control in chicks fed on a basal diet, but this was also unaffected by dietary krill meal levels. 3. Acute phase response-mediated ovotransferrin levels(relative to what was measured in the control bird) were increased in birds fed on the basal, 1.0% and 2.0% krill diets, and were reduced in birds fed on the 0.5 % krill diet. 4. In LPS-injected chicks, 1.0% and 2.0% krill meal diets induced a significant reduction in(p<0.05) the Con A-induced proliferation of PBMC and splenocytes relative to what was observed in the chicks fed on a 0.5% krill diet, whereas the splenocytes proliferated in a linear fashion with the krill levels in the diets of the control birds. The results showed that the dietary levels of krill meal reduced TNF-α activity in the blood and also influenced blood ovotransferrin levels and the proliferation of PBMC and splenocytes, and krill meal is considered to be associated with both innate and cellular immunity in broiler chicks.
A bacteriological study of sea water and oyster in Charan Bay was conducted to evaluate sanitary conditions of the bay and compliance of waters with the recommended bacteriological criteria for the designated area of shellfish cultivation, The Samples were collected at 23 sampling stations(Fig. 1 and Fig. 2) estaslished once a month from January 1997 to December 1997, During the study period, temperature ranged from 4.7 to $25.6^{\circ}C$, transparency ranged from 3.3 to 6.2m chemical oxygen demand ranged from 1.67 to 2.18 mg/$\ell$, dissolved oxygen demand ranged from 5.4 to 10.0 mg/$\ell$ dissolved nitrogen ranged from 1.65 to 7.88 $\mu$g-at/$\ell$, phosphate ranged from 0.15 to 1.16 $\mu$g-at/$\ell$, Chlorophylla-a ranged from 0.95 to 12.69mg/$\ell$. The coliform group and fecal coliform MPN's of sea water were ranged from <1.8$\~$l,600 and <1.8$\~$540, respectively. The coliform group and fecal coliform MPN's of oysters were ranged from <18$\~$16,000 and <18$\~$1,400, respectively. The viable cell counts in oyster ranged from $1.5\times10^2$ to $7.5\times10^3$. The bacteriological criteria of sea water in shellfish growing area should be less than 70 per 100 ml of sea water for median value of coliform MPN, and below $10\%$ of the samples which contain over than 230 for coliform MPN or over than 43 for fecal coliform MPN. The sea water from 432 samples were complied water coliform criteria recommended for designated shellfish growing area. The coliform group, fecal coliform, classification of coliform group with IMViC reactions and pathogenic vibrios were analyzed. During the study period, infectious bacteria such as Vibrio cholerae, Salmonella sp, and Shigella sp, were not detected from the samples, but detection ratios of Vibrio parahaemolyticus and Vibrio vulnifirus were $7\~17\%$ in summer months.
Thirty five Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium strains were isolated from diarrheic patients and pigs in Gyeongbuk area from 2003 to 2004. All 35 strains (17 strains from diarrheic patients and 18 from pigs) were resistant to more than one drug and most of strains isolated from pigs were resistant to ampicillin, ohloram-phenicol, streptomycin, sulfamethoxazole-trimethoprime, tetracyclin and nalidixic acid. Each isolate was also screened or the presence of class I, II and III integron gene cassettes. Among 35 strains,3 out of 17 strains isolated from diarrheic patients, carried dhfrX-orfF-aadA2 integron gene cassette and among 18 strains isolated from diseased pigs, 11 strains carried dhfrX-orfF-aadA2 integron gene cassette and 1 strain carried aadA2 integron only. But any class II and class II integron gene cassette were not detected in 35 strains. Thirty five strains were divided by five pulsotypes. Thirty one strains out of thirty five were pulsotype A. Among the remaining 4 strains, one each strain belonged to pulsotype B, C, D and pulsotype E. This data of pulsotypes showed that the widespread of pulsotype A, Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium in human and pigs in Gyeongbuk area may have been caused by the dissemination of a few epidemic strains in this area. Thirteen strains contain dhfrX-orfF-aadA2 integron gene cassette showed pulsotype A and one strain contains dhfrX-orfF-aadA2 integron gene cassette showed pulsotype B. One strain contains aadA2 integron showed pulsotype E. But fifteen strains do not contain any integron showed pulsotype A.

Purpose : A retrospective study was undertaken to evaluate the usefulness of low risk criteria for identifying febrile infants younger than three months unlikely to have serious bacterial infection. Methods : We conducted a retrospective study of 527 infants younger than three month with a axillary temperature ${\geq}37.4^{\circ}C$. If they met the following all four criteria, appear well, WBC $5,000-20,000/mm^3$, urine stick WBC(-) and nitrite(-), CSF WBC < $10/mm^3$, they were considered at low risk for serious bacterial infection(SBI). SBI was defined as a positive culture of urine, blood, or cerebrospinal fluid. The sensitivity, specificity, negative predictive value and positive predictive value of the low risk criteria were calculated. Results : Of 527 febrile infants, 110(21.0%) had serious bacterial infections. The 2.7% who met the low risk criteria had SBI and negative predictive value was 97.3%. SBI was diagnosed in 103 infants(38.6%) who didn't meet the low risk criteria including urinary tract infection(78.6%), most commonly, bacteremia(16.5%), bacterial meningitis(8.7%), Salmonella gastroenteritis(1%), osteomyelitis( 1%), septic arthritis of hip joint(1%). There were no differences in the sensitivity and negative predictive value according to the monthly-age-group. Conclusion : This low risk criteria to identify infants unlikely to have SBI early is available, however low risk infants must be carefully observed.
Recent studies have suggested that inulin might be utilized as a prebiotics for the promotion of antimicrobial growth, but a major obstacle to the use of inulin has been its low bifidogenic effects, which were initially observed in the ceca of broiler chickens. Inulin has some problems with related to denaturation in air and lowering passage rate from upper digestive tract to caecum. To solve this problems, a newly developed compound derived by microencapsulation, inuloprebiotics, was hypothesized to enrich cecal bifidobacterial populations and reduce the colonization levels of Salmonella in the ceca of broiler chickens. The in vitro growth of intestinal beneficial bacteria including Bifidobacterium longum, Bifidobacterium bifidum, Lactobacillus acidophilus, and Lactobacillus casei grew effectively on the medium containing inulin, whereas the growth of Streptococcus aureus and Clostridium perfringens was not differences among the treatment groups. Broiler chickens consumed chow diets containing 0.5%, 0.7% or 1.0% inuloprebiotics, or a control diet without inuloprebiotics supplementation. The chickens on the inuloprebioticssupplemented diets evidenced significantly higher cecal levels of Bifidobacterium and Lactobacillus species as compared with the chickens on the control diet. The population of cecal E. coli and Salmonella was specifically reduced as the result of treatment with inuloprebiotics. However, we noted no significant differences in Bifidobacterium species, E. coli and Salmonella counts among the inuloprebiotics treatment groups. The inuloprebiotics-supplemented diets induced an increase in the serum IgG concentration. The thymus index was significantly increased in the broiler chickens that consumed diets containing 0.7% or 1.0% inuloprebiotics, with the exception of the chickens consuming the diet supplemented with 0.5% inuloprebiotics. These results indicate that the inuloprebiotic preparations exerted an immune system-promoting effect or selectively enriched the cecal Bifidobacterium species populations in the broiler chickens, and also suggest that inuloprebiotics may prove useful as a stable natural antimicrobial agent.

The nutritional composition and optimal eating stage of the super mealworm, Zophobas atratus (Coleoptera : Tenebrionidae), were investigated to explore its use as a food ingredient. It was determined that 10th instar larvae were most suitable for eating in terms of nutritional value as well as economic aspects. To improve the quality of powder production, the nutritional value of 10th instar larvae before and after degreasing was analyzed. After drying the larvae powder, crude protein was the most abundant nutrient both before (52.3%) and after (60.6%) degreasing while crude fat measured 36.3% and 21.7% before and after degreasing, respectively. In terms of essential amino acids, leucine levels were highest and 1.3 times greater after degreasing (4.5%) than before (3.5%). Oleic acid, the highest unsaturated fatty acid in larvae, was 31.7% after degreasing which was 1.1 times higher than before (33.2%). Among various major minerals, potassium was most abundant and 1.4 times higher after degreasing (1267.0 mg/100 g) than before (879.3 mg/100 g). Harmful substances were 1.3 to 2.0 times lower in the degreased larvae, although mercury or pathogenic bacteria were not detected in either group. We therefore conclude that degreased Z. atratus larvae are more suitable for eating than before degreasing.

Purpose: Research on the clinical role of Staphylococcus aureus as a pathogen in acute gastroenteritis (AGE) in children has been scarce. This study aimed to clarify the prevalence and clinical correlation of S. aureus detection in children with AGE. Methods: Fecal samples were collected from children with symptoms of AGE who visited a secondary hospital between January 2012 and December 2015. The samples were sent to the Seoul Metropolitan Government Research Institute of Public Health and Environment to test for pathogenic organisms. Clinical patterns were analyzed through medical record review. Results: Among the 663 participants, the bacteria detection rate was 26.2% (n=174), the virus detection rate was 29.7% (n=197), and the non-detection rate was 43.1% (n=286). S. aureus was tested positive from 102 cases and was confirmed as a single pathogen in 53 cases. It was the third most common pathogen. The prevalence by age was highest (45.3%) in 0-2 year-olds. Most cases occurred in summer. Symptoms included diarrhea (71.7%), vomiting (67.9%), fever (49.1%), and abdominal pain (37.7%). Only vomiting showed a significant difference between the S. aureus group and the non-detection group (67.9% vs. 43.0%; P=0.001). Among enterotoxins, the higher incidence of vomiting was associated with classical staphylococcal enterotoxins (SEA, SEB, SEC, SED, and SEE) and SEH (P=0.027). Conclusions: S. aureus was the bacteria commonly isolated from children with AGE. Our study identified cases of staphylococcal AGE in children based on fecal samples and confirmed the characteristic symptoms, affected age groups, seasonal distribution, and correlation with enterotoxins.
This experiment was carried out to examine the fennentation properties of yogurts with or without Lyeii fructus, Lyeii folium and Lyeii cortex extract as additives at concentrations of 1.0%. The effects on promoting the fermentation by Lycii fructus, Lycii folium and Lycii cortex additives were higher and pH was below 4.06 when Streptococcus salivarius ssp. thermophilus and Lactobacillus delbrueckii ssp. bulgaricus, Lactobacillus cosei, and Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium longum and Streptococcus salivarius ssp. thermophilus were used. The acid production was higher when S. salivarius ssp. thermophilus and L. delbrueckii ssp. bulgaricw were used. The average lactic acid bacteria counts was 2.62 ${\times}$$10^9$ cfu/ml in the yogurt added with Lycii fructus extract and fermentation with S. salivarius ssp. thermophilus and L. delbrueckii ssp. bulgaricw. The lactose hydrolysis ratio was higher in the milk added with Lycii fructus extract(36.11%), Lycii folium extract(37.76%) and Lycii cortex extract(32.70%) when S. salivarius ssp. thermophilus and L. delbrueckii ssp. bulgaricus were used. The isobutylic acid concentration was(34.39 to 37.72 mM) with S. salivarius ssp. thermophilus and L. delbrueckii ssp. bulgaricus. The viscosity of yogurt was 1,615 to 2,030 cP in yogurts added with skim milk and L. acidophilus; B. longum and S. salivarius ssp. thermophilus were used. The sensory scores of colors, tastes and overall acceptability of yogurt with Lycii cortex extract were shown 3.34 to 3.77 when fermented by L. cosei, L. acidophilus, B. longum and S. salivarius ssp. thermophilus. The cholesterol reducing effects were 17.38${\sim}$32.08% in all the yogurts and especially, greater effect(25.75 to 32.08%) for yogurts fermented with L. acidophilus KCTC3150 and L. salivarius subsp. salivarius CNU27. The inhibitory effects on the pathogenic bacteria by lactic acid bacteria added with Lycii fructus, Lycii folium and Lyeii cortex lower on S. typhimurium M-15, but higher on E. coli KCTC1021 and L. monocytogenes.

제 18 조 (손해배상)
당 사이트는 무료로 제공되는 서비스와 관련하여 회원에게 어떠한 손해가 발생하더라도 당 사이트가 고의 또는 과실로 인한 손해발생을 제외하고는 이에 대하여 책임을 부담하지 아니합니다.
제 19 조 (관할 법원)
서비스 이용으로 발생한 분쟁에 대해 소송이 제기되는 경우 민사 소송법상의 관할 법원에 제기합니다.

1. (시행일) 이 약관은 2016년 9월 5일부터 적용되며, 종전 약관은 본 약관으로 대체되며, 개정된 약관의 적용일 이전 가입자도 개정된 약관의 적용을 받습니다.
